        • I guess its time to change my avtaar now.....

Starter motor...kaput! On thumbing the starter it sounds like a wheezing old man, gotta find time to go to PBK to get it resolved.

Before that I need to change my tyres, anyone have numbers of stockists for Vyde here in Bangalore?

          • @Praful: Damn! Now, this is the worst nightmare..How do you start your bike now? Push-start? How many kms/ years has your P-220 done?

I ask because I better take a stock of the approximate time period before which the starter becomes an "old man"..
            :)

It starts alright, its a "Old Man" not yet a "Dead Man"

But only after a lot of coaxing does it come to life, not yet reached the state where I need to push start the bike.

But I could be wrong about the starter too, need to confirm from Pbk.

PS: This is not the worst nightmare for a 220 owner, the worst nightmare is for your battery to run in the middle of a dark highway with major cities a 100kms in all directions....Been there, done that!

                • ^^U want a better one. Riding along with a 220 and seeing ur fellow rider stop on the hi-way roadside. When u ask him he says "Nothing yaar. Just the engine malfunction light came on. So resetting the system". This was with 180 kms to Bangalore on one way and 180 kms to Chennai on the other. Been there, done that too.

P.S: The 220 owner was Praful bhai and the fellow rider was me. Thank God, it was a due to a malfunctioning rollover sensor!

Sorry buddy, that was not the case I was referring too....there was another incident about 4 months after that wherein I actually had "proper" issue, only thing common was the highway and time of the incident.

He he.... quite true. But that was because, Praful knew that the engine malfunction light would come on if he went over 120kmph and the rollover sensor was not working. I bet he would not have been so chilled-out if the same had happened for an unknown reason!

I know this incident too, where u had to push the bike for the last couple of kms as the battery died out due to some rectifier unit or something. I also know about the case where ur clutch cable broke in the middle of nowhere!(fortunately u got a replacement cable)

Correct Correct, I was talking about the RR Unit issue.

Clutch cable issue was too funny man! I rode back with a auto rickshaw cable, whats more I rode on that cable for close to 1 month.

How does one get out of this nightmare? The bike can be push started.. but with zero battery, what happens to the fuel pump and the lot of sensors?

Oh and.. the priming noise you hear when you 'boot' up the bike, does it persist even after firing up the engine? I just noticed, so was wondering whether thats the way it works..
