  • O-Ring dilemma

    hey guys

i want to remove the chain cover of my zma, but as far as i know the zma does not have a o-ring chain unlike the pulsars etc.

do i have to put an o-ring chain on my bike to be able to use it uncovered

plz recommend the model/make of chain that can be a direct fit for the zma

does the new zmr also has non o-ring chain??

    thnx

as per i know for removing chain cover we don't need to change the chain to the O-RING chain ..

btw O-RING chain is around 2400 with spokets ...nd ZMA R stock chain set it 900

      • Bike problem sorted out

For the last two months i was facing a rare problem .
Oil level was decreasing at a rapid rate (Once refilled the oil level will come down to the lowest point in three weeks) and the bike was giving shocking mileage of 24 (normal riding) and 18-20 on ripping ..

Finally all the problems sorted out..
Oil level was decreasing due to oil leak from the oil seals
Changed the oil seals and the oil leak is stopped ..

Regarding mileage , gave bike to a good mechanic.
he cleaned the carburetor , adjusted AFR and tuned the engine.

Checked the mileage the mileage many times in highway .
        Constantly getting getting 36 (80-90 speedometer )
        Tried ripping very hard , bike gives 28 (120 -125 speedometer )
The bike is very smooth and running fine ..
I am very much satisfied with the performance and from next week onwards back to touring

Removed my chain cover from day 1. It has run more than 18k now with zero problem on stock chain. Been wanting to change to x/o ring but cost and difficulty in procuring then made me stick to stock. Prefer open chain as it is easy to clean them and also keep track on its wear and tear.

Don't know about direct fit. I think Zmr chain is same as Zma.

          • Got fed up of trying to get parts. Took more than a month to get a measly clutch cable. In the mean time, I got a Cbz cable and been using it for more than a month now. Finally the parts have arrived. Not to get onto similar experience I've decided to do exactly as "ravi@17bhp" been screaming about .

All right Ravi. Heard you loud and clear.

Okay, this is not the flea market. These are my spare parts I decided to stock.
            1. 2 air filters
            2. 2 clutch cables
            3. 2 speedo cables
            4. set of front/rear sprocket and chain.

That should give me some peace of mind for some time.
What have I missed? Edit: Aaargh!!! the throttle cables. Next time.

            • I was shocked to realise that HH charges 900 bucks for the front wheel fender...

900 bucks for a piece of plastic that has almost no practical use????

Seriously, just because we own a Karizma, are we open to exploitation???

              • Suggest Tubeless Tires and HIDs

This upgrade is for touring purpose and daily commuting

I am looking for Tubeless tires on my Zma (I am not gonna remove my chain cover )

                Rear :
Pirelle 110/90 (somewhere i read 110/80 only available is it fine ?)
120 would give a significant drag and lower the Acceleration and TopSpeed is what i understand....
Does Michelin got one ? Apart from Sirac

                Front :
I have no idea but i want a tubless for sure (3 x 18 should be fine i believe) no idea on brand or makes .. no zappers or ceats for sure

                Hids :
Bi Xenon lamps are ok but i am not sure if its fine in city with high luminosity

looking for 4300L (as its within laws)

please suggest the best ones i owe a beer lolz

does it require frequent cleaning and oiling, esp. in the rainy season??

how do you clean your chain??

clean/oil them once or twice a month. Rain does require more cleaning, but I just clean them once or twice.

                      Method:
                      1. Normally, first I use a spray called Zorrik 88. Its a cleaning + Lubricating spray. They are pretty common. There are similar other products by different name (forgot the name) which you get easily in hardware stores. Next use a brush, then wipe it with piece of cloth. Lastly oil them with engine oil. Was using gear oil but found them too thick. It takes ages to get inside small spaces between links so prefer engine oil left over from refilling my bike.

BTW, got one of those sewing machine oil small plastic container. Threw the oil and refill them with engine oil. Its perfect size and got a long thin nozzle. Very convenient to oil the chain.

                      2. Once in 3-4 months, I remove entire chain and soak them in petrol in a container. Clean them thoroughly and soak the entire chain in engine oil. Then hang them out to drip out excess oil. Put it back. Proper method, but tedious.

Considering my chains + sprockets are still in very good condition at 18+ k. I think whatever I'm doing is good enough.

                      • hEy all i need HELP

                        my karizma started behaving strange..
previously i have a problem with the rectifier of my karizma , i ordered it and it will come by next week..

as in today evening it started behaving strangely .. it was bit traffic so i was in half clutch nd bit of RPM for the roll.. suddenly my bike stalled turning off the console light and everything( that point i felt that i have released the clutch suddenly or haven't gave the throttle correctly ).. i took my bike aside as i cant use self start ..i gave a kick and it started then i pressed the clutch and geared to 1st ..i just released the clutch normally it staled again making the console off.. in few sec the console light started and showing the trip meter rite it happened 2 times the lights and the console gets off and on ..
after that it worked normally ..

can any one say what might be the problem ..and can i go for an fiero's RR unit ?

                        • If its a problem with the rectifier the bike would not start easily.Definately not with the SS.It would require a lot of kicks for the bike to start.

I guess u check for a loose connection.

                            • Hello! All!!!

I came up with a very unusual conclusion today my 5 year old Zma' which got accidented lately and changed almost everything execpt bullet proof engine ...it always tilt on right side on any speed when i leave hands... after repair i got changed everything including T + front sproket oil + alingment etc etc and nothing corrected this... now today i just stopped my bike and placed on side stand as i was very pissed off with this problem and i kicked my bike's front tyre from right to the actual position where the bike tilt's usually and the bike stood straight in one Shot...i surprizingly came to kno the handle bar was relatively Bent' i gave some solid push to the handle bar with lefft hand and it also came up to the mark... now i can leave hands or do what ever inrespect to any speed...i just can say wow and learned a lesson that " biggest problems in life have most silly solutions'

                              • I was using 9amp pro rider on my karizma for past 1 and a half years. Now that when i could feel the battery was running low,i went to amaron sales n service from where i got the battery.i had 60 months warranty, so wanted it to be replaced. But i was told that my rectifier has problem and it was over charging and i cant get replacement.I went to herohonda to replace my rectifier but when tested it was perfect. And they told me it does not need a replacement.

Any one else faced problem like this??
The instrument they fixed on the rectifier showed 14.80 in idle and 14.45 when in say 5000 rpm... is that normal or its the same in karizma...
Plzz help if any one knows it for sure...

yaa wat confuses me is that, when in idle it goes up to 14.8 but when the rpm is around 5k its 14.4 only...why is that>>normally when u accelerate more, it has to produce more current rit!!!
