    • Hi guys, need your help..Yesterday i took a test ride of a used zma, which has clocked 29000kms,for 40k bucks and i loved it..The owner had changed its piston and bore, some 1000 kms before..It was like i was riding a new zma..The only thing i am concerned it the front fairing rattles when the bike passes over a pot hole. The guy said the t-pipe needs to be straighten and everything should be fine..
      What say guys?

fishy.. A piston and cylinder change around 28k doesnt sound good. What was the reason behind it? Whatever it may be imho its better to stay away from such vehicles. Straightning that T is not an issue but its not gonna help. Later you may get lots of handling issues..Rattling can arise because of loose bolts, uneven alignment and in worst case any broken parts.

The piston and bore were changed because someone had intentionally put sand into the engine oil..The total bill was aroung 6k..Now handle bar, brakeshoe, lock set needs to be changed..What to do?I desperately need a bike!!

if you really need it then try to negotiate by listing the issues. Check all the fiber parts and take the bike to different mechanics, both svc and local. Make sure everything is fine because a troublesome zma can make big hole in your pocket.

U r right anmol..But at that point of time,i wanted to buy a new bike..But my parents have asked me to look for a used bike..This was my option and i took a test ride of this bike. What do you think is this a good deal as i will be using this bike for one and a half year.Only concern is that the bike front sounds when it passes through a pot hole...And there was some black oil-like deposits on the outer side of engine. Is it common on all zma?

                • Hi

Looking for new tyres for Karizma R

I am not comfortable with tyres of Karizma R. Tyres are not good at all.. almost not grip. I dont find any problem in front tyre but if by changing it if it give me just pleasure and safety 10% more I will throw current tyre.

I heared about Michelin tyre.. Which tyre is good my bike, My almost need is Grip, grip and grip, i dont want to be scare on 60+ like what I am now. If average goes little down i dont mind but I need grip and speed intact if possible.

I went to MRF customer service center and got horrible response, they say their tyre are fine, 1700km passed they said after 2000KM I will feel it. huh

see the email I just sent them, see how bad that guy was, I have even voice record of our conversation, [in gujarati though] I can sue him but I just dont want to deal that company at all

                  ===========================
                  Hello sir,

Dont know if this will be reached to right place,

You got very bad customer service at Rajkot.

When I reached your at office and asked about Harsh Joshi, who replied on my complain, which I did here online some time ago,

When I asked for Harsh Joshi, He was the same guy and told me that Harsh Joshi is not available and than he said I never said like this.

He asked me for paper [from bike company - hero honda - problem was tyre of Karizma R], when I told him about tyre check, I gave,

After tyre checked , he said no problem in tyre and it will be almost fine after 2000KM, and told me that If now I want to get my paper back as there is no problem in tyre, I said yes and He went back to his office, he got call from a customer and after shouting on him when call finished, I asked him again for paper he said, he dont have any such paper he has given me back, I told him to check myself I am here, I dont have any paper, and he was speaking than carelessly

Let me say, you got very bad customer service and not good quality tyres for Karizma too, [I can even show you several posts on bike forum regarding this and they are changing ichelin Tyres.

I was fan of yours and trust me thats why I came here to find a solution now its time to change the company, If you want to keep some royal customers like me than improve your service,

                  Regards

You can go for Michelin M45 rear or Michelin Pilot Sporty.
Replace the words "I have to" with "I choose to" and notice the difference in how you feel.

                    • Dhiraj, Do you suggest me to change Front tyre too?

Also what about tube? can I use same old tube? or need to purchase new tube.. which is compitible with this new tyre?

My bike is new just 1700km run.

front Tyre replacement is not needed, purchase a new tube if the old one is not compatible with new Tyre(if Tyre size is more than go for tube change)

Reducing the idle RPM after the bike has run for some KMs would make it simpler and easier to you to do it. My bike idles between 900 to 1100 when cold and at 1200 when warmed up and even after a ride of 50km!!

Also I have observed that if the idle RPMs are adjusted after doing some riding(read it as engine is at optimal working temperature) would make the mixture lean(or something like that!!) and bike tends to switch off when started in the morning(cold starting issue!!). So using the choke would help you start the engine without any trouble. I dont know about others, I continue to ride for 50m with the choke on and without using the accelerator cable for some distance and then release the choke. The bike settles to a lovely beat and the idle RPMs between 900 to 1100.

Hmmm... for the sound you definitely need a competent guy with a trained ears to locate the trouble. But engine sound and the clutch!!! I have never heard about such a connection. BTW, I have noticed the sound varies a bit with different oils!!
But if the clutch is in bad condition, you would face jerking!!

That icing is for other ZMA/ZMA-R owners too!!! So just feel the heat!!!
no i did it after a 30+ km drive which is more than enough i think . i too think clutch are in good health as i don't face any lag in acceleration . as i am new to zmaR i dont know whether its normal or not but i can feel the heat waves it heats up my leg .By the way hows Coimbatore aren't u missing HYD

I think there's a confusion. Altering the idle RPM will not change the AFR. Or in other words the mixture doesn't become leaner or richer! Fiddling with the Air screw does!

One of the more common reasons for rough engine feel and more heat is a lean AF mixture. The stock tuning would be around 3.5 turns from fully screwed in. Better thing would be to get the bike tuned from a good mechanic. And the ideal idle RPM for zma is 1000-1200 RPM! Hope this helps.
