I was in touch with psr sir throughout and he told me it could be cam chain, tensioner and the worst case the camshaft as the bike has done 42,000 km. Found a very reliable mech near my place and visited him on saturday. He told the chain seems to have gone but we have to remove and see what else. So we removed the full head until the bore and piston were left. Here are the list of part I had to change.

    Camshaft - Rs 815
    Camchain Tensionet(Provides support to the cam chain) - Rs 109 x 2
    Gasket Kit - Rs 525
    Valve Rocker Arm - Rs 275 x 2
    Cam Chain - Rs 461
    Air Filter - Rs 205
    O Ring set - Rs 70
    Carburetor Insulator - Rs 103
plus nuts, bolts, fresh engine oil, petrol for cleaning the engine parts, the oil cap spring, lathe machine threading, etc, etc..

Labour charges - Rs 600 plus another Rs 50 tip to the mech who actually did the work.

Happiness of sitting there, learning everything and what all is actually done in the engine - Priceless

Was there the whole day on Saturday and most of it was done. We had to do the finishing touches and the actual starting of the engine on Sunday morning. Was in K&N before this and moved back to the stock filter. The bike was all ready by noon on Sunday and boy it is indeed a v2.0 of her. Full smooth and now I understand why Honda is so popular for their refinement.
great great so here we have another satisfied zma owner.

    - You will learn a lot of stuff about what all is there inside and what is actually happening.
    - You will be the one who is buying the parts and paying for it and you can see the new ones actually going into the engine(again not possible in ASC as they change everything(hopefully! ) and they just give you the bill in the end).
but bro in Ban itself, there are svc's where you can actually go in and check the progress and all that. i guess your talking about IDEAL motors here.

Now I am 100% satisfied with my bike. Got a run-in period. But I know that it will be definitely worth it. At times it seems like the engine is not at all running, so quiet!

During this past one week, I have learnt a massive amount of things.

I am happy for you...You took the right decisions at the right time, spent hard earned money and quality time to make your ZMA what it is now...and your knowledge is much more now, which will be of immense help in future...
Wish you Best of Luck Always.

Shall we go for a ride to thank him personally dude

Went for a short ride to DD hills and some nearby park this sunday. Bike felt so different after switching over to stock filter...has become silent assasin .There was a patch of downwrd slope with zero traffic and I touched 140/- on speedo . The visor, mirrors..handle all vibrating after crossing 130 !!!

A good Decision, because the filtration of dust will be better with stock Paper filter, and with the resonator in place it will improve, the power delivery and much smoothness..

Speedo error on ZMA is about 10 Kmph...Since it is down hill you had done better than spec..Vibration could be because of limiter choking the firing,or the Chain and sprockets are having wear issue.

          • Good news MAXzma. I will give a visit to the mechanic you suggested very soon, maybe this week itself. There's no problem with the bike, but prevention is better than cure. Will just have him have him look at the bike and search for a problem.

@Amit, MAXzma, Vineeth and others from Bangalore: How about a Bangalore-xBhp-Karizma-R owners meet? As we're pressed for time we can just do a CCD/Coffee/tea meetup? A ride is always welcome, but now we can look at Vineeth's Joeled Zeema, MAX's ZMA v.2, my oh-its-stock! ZMA and Amit's ZMA, dont know much about it, thats a pretty good reason to look at it (but it is soon going to be Joeled IIRC?)

I have a pretty decent camera to shoot some good pictures as a bonus.

The above posts are derived from aggregation of opinions of several xBhp ZMA riders, based on personal experience/common sense. Please be advised that some things might differ from manufacturer's recommendations.

            • @PSR Sir,

How effective is the Zen MPFI filter in terms of overall power delivery of the bike?
I am searching for Uni stock replacement filter sheets but no idea where I can get them .
What is a limiter ?? How it chokes the firing ?
              I checked my zma speedo with a P200, a R15 and a Punto.
Results: Me 128,P200 130,R15 125, Punto 123...all going in same speed

Btw I need to replace my front mud guard, as the current one has been cut by the previous owner (yes, a part of it has been cut on the front side, probably because it was cracked). And found this website Safe-x Motorcycle Mudguards And Fairings. Has some of the parts of ZMA and other bikes, prices seem good, but the site is poorly designed; Still going through the website and will probably call the number on the site bit later.

I had changed to Zen MPFi Air Filter because of non-availability of stock filters 3 months back...I am happy with it as it filters well, and there are no dead spots or lugging during acceleration..and it now gives 31 city and 41 highway...(after carb Mod).and it is Rs.125/-
I am searching for Uni stock replacement filter sheets but no idea where I can get them .
What is a limiter ?? How it chokes the firing ?
There is a Rev limiter in ZMA to limit the Revs to approximately 8,300 RPM, to save engine. This is done by cutting off plug firing beyond this RPM limit. What happens at that moment is that the pulses to the Ignition coil from CDI is stopped ,so that no plug firing takes place.
                      I checked my zma speedo with a P200, a R15 and a Punto.
Results: Me 128,P200 130,R15 125, Punto 123...all going in same speed
The ZMA does 15 Kmph for every 1,000 RPM in stock settings...So with a limiter at 8.3K RPM max speed is 124.5 Kmph true.If you had done any change to the drive ratio by changing either sprocket or tire size , then resultant speed differences will be there.

Ah I visited them first after hearing the noises. The supervisor told me that the engine was seized and if I ride it out even for a few km then the engine will stop completely! Scared the hell out of me. I rode some 200km after that for a week before getting everything fixed with no problems except the noise.

Sure bro! We can ride down somewhere during a weekend. It would be good to see you guys in person.

Directions to Mohan Motor Works due to many requests..

If you are coming from the Outer Ring Road:
Come on the Kamanahalli Rd. First Signal would be KFC signal, keep coming straight further down towards Mukunda theater fly over. The next signal would be Empire Hotel signal. You will have to take a left here. This is the Nehru Road.

If you are coming from Mukunda Theater Flyover:
Keep coming straight on the Kamanahalli Road and the first signal would be the Empire Hotel signal. You will have to take a right to reach Nehru Road in the signal.

Now you are in Nehru road. Keep moving slowly and in around 100m you will find a shop called Tender Chicken on your left. There is a street opposite to it. Take it(so you will be taking a right on Nehru Road to get to this street). You will find MMW on your right in this street. PM me in case you have any queries.

P.S. The prices I mentioned for the parts that I changed on my bike were the M.R.P. I got them from the regular two wheeler spares shop. All HH genuine products and the shop keeper gave a discount. He reduced around Rs200 from the final bill.

generally relay comes with a connector/coupler and few cms of wires attached to it, all you have to do is get those wires extented for few more cms so that you can connect everything properly. so get your self a 14-16guaze 12v automotive wires(5-6) meters will do the job.
