I asked him about "Workshop Service Manual" of R15 & he said that there is no such thing issued to him ...Originally posted by mithun.08 View Post150 kms
How many tier you changed till now Sir
If you get it can you upload is some where so that many can download it
He said there is only a User Service List in User Manual. Nothing such as workshop service manual. Well, he has been very helpful in the past, so I trust him. Are you sure such a thing exists?

@ Aparjith: Yamaha guys checking Xbhp? Well, I don't think it can be proved in any way, that I'm actually in contact with him. I am!, but it ain't prove-able ...---

ok .. so the saga so far .. went to panache on saturday because the mechanic had said the tappets were lose .. took it in the evening but the noise worsened as soon as the engine heated up. Got a call from yamaha today and went to panache at 4 PM along with the yamaha area office engineer. Told him all the problems ppl are facing, took photos of rust on my bike and then at 6 odd started adjusting the tappets. They tried till about 8.30 and still couldn't get it right. So I left the vehicle there and i'll collect it tomo after the work is done. If the work can't be done by the mechanic, the area office trainer will come and correct it.
now some info. the required clearances as defined by yamaha are 0.1 intake and 0.2 exhaust. The workshop manual is not given to us lest we start opening up engines, so I couldn't source one yet. The tappet adjustment should be done at TDC on the compression stroke only (something the mechanic's didn't know). At present I have directed the guy to the spreadsheet and depending on the number of probs that surface a decision will be taken by the HO to deal with it. Till then they consider rusting cases as isolated and will get a touch up done on my vehicle. So make sure yamaha contacts you or otherwise contact the area office to actually get a solution to the problem.

But joel says the R15 works best when we configure the tappets with 0.10 inlet and 0.10 exhaust(yes, both the same). It seems it'll be less noisy and more smooth then(told me from his experience).Originally posted by archibaby View Postok .. so the saga so far .. went to panache on saturday because the mechanic had said the tappets were lose .. took it in the evening but the noise worsened as soon as the engine heated up. like I said, i am talking of the official values. joels values may be making the engine smoother and I am not arguing with those. Only if you give the bike for tappet adjustment to YASS they will set it at 0.1 and 0.2 only.

Archi, do you know if they used a feeler gauge or if it was just speculated clearance.Originally posted by archibaby View Postlike I said, i am talking of the official values. joels values may be making the engine smoother and I am not arguing with those. From what I have learned, Panache SS doesn't have anyone who knows how to service an R15.
They are in fact experimenting.. you already know.

yup they do have feeler gauges .. although the first time they set the clearance I didn't see the guage parameters, the next day in front of the area office engineer they useda bunch of feeler gauges with the required clearances on them. As per the area office guy there are 2 very highly trained mechanics at panache. these guys cleaned my bike (for the second time in 5 days - complimentary) and just received my vehicle. Am happy with the smoothness etc but don't think it would have happened if the AO engineer didn't come along. I signed a customer satisfaction form too.
As per the engineer, the sample provided by the spreadsheet is quite small and a recent customer satisfaction survey conducted by yamaha had yielded good results. They had received a few rust complaints, one of them being mine, but none from coastal areas which confused them.Nevertheless a marketing Initiative will be issued for my vehicle to see what can be done about the rust etc. Also the spreadsheet will be sent to the HO.
@RED, amit and vikas:- you guys will most likely be contacted. If not you can take the engineer's number from me via PM.
If possible ppl should advertise this spreadsheet and put it on other communities or forums to allow a larger number of 1 5 owners put up their issues.
also to kill any speculations :- there is no upcoming perf pack and no specs for the 2K9 model has been fixed.
anyway forgot to mention that there had to be some niggle so I received my bike without one screw on the fairing. next to the radiator.
. Minor stuff but there has to be something right. After all my bike came back from a YASS

The other saga today was finding a "pulsar push type LED". I went to 6 shops. 4 of them didn't know what I was talking about, one of them didn't have stock and the other had only blue and disco. So back without one. man, didn't know it'll be so difficult sourcing one. So my second silverstar is catching dust.
ppl who have bought one, it'll be nice if you give me the shop name so i can go directly. I don't know too many shops on JC road so the name will help.
