@swingarm- The R15 Top-Speed Debate ends HERE. Touched 148kmph on my STOCK R15 this morning. This video is specially dedicated to all the Posers and Yappers like you, who ride a Honda Shine and complain about the "POOR" performance of this Yam. So stopping yapping for once and watch the video, digest it and if you still you don't believe what you see, you can continue living your life in DENIAL!

            • Thanks for your best wishes guys.

@archibaby: Standing 6 feet tall and weighing 75kgs, I am not exactly small even by European standards

@navnish: I am dying to test her under a speed-gun myself. Lets see if I can get my hands on one.

              @pulsar_flame: My bike's done 7400kms.

@ketan_r15: I shot the video using my friend's Nokia 91 mobile cam.

I clocked it over a 2.5 km long patch which gradually declines until you hit the flat section near the Khambatki toll booth.

I wouldnt know that toll booth, but hmmmm its a slope then.
That slope is good enough to give you a good mid-way bump in top-speed.
I clocked my 150kmph on a flat road, in a little over 2kms.
In any case stock R15s can do 140kmoh on the speedo given the road. But to get that little more, u need to have a tail wind and also more punch. If your stock bike has clocked 148, ur plain lucky. It will never happen everyday and everytime!

You could hit 150 on a flat rd and that too in a little over 2kms- well good for you mate!! but I am sorry to disappoint you with your "plain lucky" theory because this is the 4th time i have hit 148 on the same rd on 4 different days. This fact also discards your tail wind comment for that would be like the height of coincidence that I get such strong tail wind every single time i happen to ride on that road. However you are absolutely right on the slope front, because it is indeed one of the main factors which helps you maintain your momentum and hit 148. In fact, I am sure that a person weighing less than me (75kgs) and with the right technique can clock 150k if not better it on the same road.

But where did u fix the cell then..? Can u elaborate on it?

By the way, I dont know if u guys hav seen this Vid or not.. but i happened to come accross it today. I was surprised to see how can some one ruin his bike like this? Forget bike, how can he neglect his own safety by staying miles away from any sort of protection? Any sort of.... Height of foolishness.....

Well the road where my R15 hit 150kmph is the same place where a bone stock R15 will never nudge past 142kmph ridden anyhow.
The slope helps your momemtum and since you are doing it everytime probably on a sloppy surface, you're hitting this. Plain lucky is not a theory but a coincidence of optimum conditions + the right state of tune which cant come by everyday and everytime.
Also FYI, having known the juice in the R15 there is nothing magical in your stock engine unless it has been tricked. Mine was 8kmph more than a stock R15 coz of the state of tune and tweeks.
If your R15 has done 148 there, any stock R15 will do there.
Given the gearing of the R15, 150kmph is very much possible on every R15 given the right road. But if you have more masala in the engine, u can get there faster/earlier.

                              • R15 - Leh Ladakh Trip

                                Hey Guys...
allow me to introduce myself (Ronny or ranaditya if you may)as a proud R15 owner from Mumbai whos done 2000 kms of the ravishing thing.... taken it to the malshej ghat once and to amby valley once... loved the performance on the bends.... and the speeds on the straights....
Am a die hard fan of the leh ladakh circuit and have read almost all trip logs on the net.. the most fascinating one's from the 60KPH ers and some of the less fascinating ones elsewhere too... heard lots of stories from my roommate whos done it on a hired bullet.... and read countless recent posts debating whether the R15 can mange the circuit what with its relative lower power at low speeds and the riding position... i mean we all agree its a racer than a tourer...
But i guess every bike worth its might has pitted itself against the endurance test of theose high altitude non existant roads...
Just sending a feeler to the owners group to understand what others think about this...
