^^With the oil change, even the tappet-noise has disappeared. Its fine now. Am planning to get my hands dirty for adjusting the tappets too. Joel has given the values to use and my mech. has the requisite tools to measure them and adjust them! Don't trust those damn SC guys now!

Castrol Bike Zone
I have no idea about Castrol Bike Zone in Chennai, but here in Hyderabad my friend was charged a hefty sum for his CBZ servicing by them. They even put in duplicate spares like disc plates etc.He was vexed with the problems&ended up finally selling it!Originally posted by sk8er_joe View PostI had gone to castrol bike zone with this prob. I would advise you to stick to the Yam SS.

@sunny: Point noted. I agree that my emotions got the better of me and it was wrong on my part to target the individual rather than the argument. Will keep that in check from now on.Watch my Baby R1 clock 148kmph at http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=cAHbYl...e=channel_page.

started with reading what parts are there in a bike , and how things operate.
Then saw how it operates/functions practically.

just back from the SS .. pics taken of rust etc. I have some tappet noise on my bike and they didn't have an answer when I asked them why it wasn't rectified in the second service. they'll correct that tomo. Vikas was with me so we had 2 bikes to show rust on. Complained about the chain too. Let's see what action is taken.
should I get it done at the SS? pretty confused. what should be the ideal valve clearance. Any damage due to noisy tappets? Or maybe only the camchain needs to be tensioned.

I have a very bad rust on my fuel tank. Its just a little over 2 months now. Have hardly exposed the bike to water.
Is this rust thing normal? Never seen this on my other bikes, this is really soon. Hopeless quality of paint/metal.
Are the SS guys replacing the tanks or whats the excuse?
I have never taken the bike to any SS till date.
Tappets, its been discussed a few 10s of times here. Anyways 0.10 for IN and EXT. You cant tighten the cam shain tensioner man and it does not help anything. This is an auto tensioner. Works on a preload.
Another bit, tighten/loosen the tappets only if needed. you only need to inspect once after 5000kms. Why fix when it aint broke
