The slope helps your momemtum and since you are doing it everytime probably on a sloppy surface, you're hitting this. Plain lucky is not a theory but a coincidence of optimum conditions + the right state of tune which cant come by everyday and everytime.
Also FYI, having known the juice in the R15 there is nothing magical in your stock engine unless it has been tricked. Mine was 8kmph more than a stock R15 coz of the state of tune and tweeks.
If your R15 has done 148 there, any stock R15 will do there.
Given the gearing of the R15, 150kmph is very much possible on every R15 given the right road. But if you have more masala in the engine, u can get there faster/earlier.
Someone's all Defensive, isn't he I don't care what you can do with your bike and its masaledar engine. If you would have left your ego aside before reading my posts, you would have been able to actually understand what I am trying to say here. The original question was about the top whack that everyone has hit on their respective R15s. Hence I happened to mention what I have hit and when people tried to question my 148 mark, I posted a video to substantiate my claim. While doing so, I never mentioned about any magical characteristics of my bike. My bike is plain stock without any tweaks and I am sure that with some professional tune-up it can do much much better. From my very first post, i have clearly mentioned that I hit 148 on a road which had a natural decline which helped me sustain my momentum. So it was not luck, nor tailwind but a very good patch of road with gradual decline that helped me get to my magical figure CONSISTENTLY. And hence in my last post I insisted that anyone on a well-maintained stock R15 and weighing less than 75kgs should be able to hit 148 if not better it on the same road. I rest my case here.

      • Anybody have true max speed of an R15? Or how accurate is the speedo?

        • @DriftKingNT and ketan_r15- I fitted the mobile phone between the helmet jawline and my chin and with the wiser closed of course. The gap between my nose and the helmet jawline (after i wore the helmet) was just enough to fit the phone and balance it with my chin.

I really dont get what you re trying to say about my claims here.
Didnt get the ego part u are trying to quote, or do you have it..I dont know. I'm saying that a stock R15 WILL do it given the road...but a tweeked engine will hit that sweet spot earlier. Thats all.
Read my last post clearly and I've said that its a combination of the optimum condition and state of tune which gives you the best possible top-end.
If you feel I'm being defensive, every point of mine is being taken as offensive by you.. Cant help it, unto each his own.
You have a point, you proved it. Good for you but bad for those who never believed the R15 could do this much.

                    • This is not an ownership post since I am not an owner but I do think that I needed to post something on this really good bike.

My first impressions of REALLY riding the bike are posted here:

Congrats to all owners who have owned and ridden this bike. I am happy for you guys.

And this might help for people who are dilly dallying about buying a new bike. If you know how to extract power out of a bike, this is the "One"!
The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

                            • Bad service at Ambal Motors!

Hey all, as I mentioned in my earlier posts, my bike was making a ruckus off-late. Too much noise, NVH-too high, tappet noise and so on. Yesterday checked Engine oil and it had lost all its viscosity. It looked all black and was flowing like water. I doubt if the SC guys even changed the oil in my last free service which was only 1.2K kms ago.

I then got a liter of SHELL mineral oil and replaced it. Now the bike is back to its old self and runs like a dream. The SC guys said that they had poured MOTUL semi-synth oil and charged me 300-odd bucks(on the bill) for the same. Am damn sure that a semi-synth will not loose its viscosity so soon. I service at AMBAL MOTORS, chennai. This is for ur info guys. Better be present when the SC guys do a service on ur bike. If this is the quality of service, Yamaha better warn its service guys.

This is exactly wat I told yesterday.. I had changed the oil just before 700kms from AMBAL MOTORS.. The oil was damn black in colour and the quantity was very less.
Happy to hear that u'r problems r solved n I'm planning ti take it to SS this saturday to adjust the tappet.
