    • Hi guys,

I have a small query, I recently did a 350+ km ride, and hit a few pot-holes on the way.

Now, whenever I brake, I hear, and feel a click in the front fork, like it was moving.

Is this something I should be worried about?? What could be the problem??

      Appreciate your responses, Cheers!

      • @Thaker: It could be just that the handle bar and the nuts generally needs some tightening, or it might be a case of damaged cone-set. Get it checked once.

It is the cone set. Tighten it or else replace.

My bike has done 19,000kms. Fortunately, my cone-set seems to be still in one piece.

@Veeral: Time to change the cone-set, I believe.

Ya I had to replace it at 15K, even I'm a smooth rider. My mech told me that water got into the cone set, don't know how. I have a wild theory that if a bike falls then it puts lateral forces on a cone set, which it is not designed to hold and this contributes to making the cone set go bust.

The cone set is at the joining of your bike frame to the front forks-headlamp assembly. It is under the big shiny nut right before your ignition keyhole.

                    • @abhijeet080808: How do you know whether the cone set is busted or only loosely set? I need to take a decision on my Fiero F2's cone set, which has been changed once at about 25000kms.Now it is at 50K kms.

Firstly when the cone set makes noise it is loose. Now, some balls in the bearing may wear out more compared to others. This means even when it is tightened some balls will still be loose and hence has to be replaced.

To check this, after tightening the cone set, try to move the handle from left to right and vice versa. If you feel it moving evenly without any tight spots or loose spots, all balls are ok. Else, you will feel uneven pressure while doing so, replacement is needed.

Anyways, replacement is recommended after 25k kms use.

                          • hey guys,
i have a 21k and 2 n half year old p200...i recently changed the acceleration wire of the bike since the throttle wasn't that smooth...
but after the change, throttle feels super soft and rolls like a knife on butter.
but the problem i am facing is that as soon as i accelerate, i hear a grunting sound..its been long since iv been hearing that sound.but i want to get rid of it. My bike is completely stock when it comes to the technical stuff, engine, plugs etc etc.
also, where in delhi can i get motul 5100.........?????
iv been using the usual mineral oils as of now , but now i am thinking of a change..
                            reply's expected on the issues

                            • @radioactive: For Motul oil in Delhi, you can go and check at Yusuf Sarai. I have used Motul once, and I procured it from that place.
                              :)
