Thanks Dual disc 200 and EL LOCO DIABLO for detailed advise and suggestions.Originally posted by dual disc 200 View PostDude, good that u've posted what u've felt which will enable us to give our inputs for ur riding technique. First of all P-200 is a very good machine and it's coming from a mouth which has driven it for the past 2 years and just had one bad crash that is because of some drunk fools on the road. Yes, the rear brake is kind of non existent in all the bikes as far as i've seen given proper engine braking and front braking there ur rear brake comes to life. The thing is that there is a thin line between braking and locking up the rear wheel or the front wheel, that thin line can be mastered only after vigorous riding. I myself have locked up the rear wheel couple of times engaged with engine braking but some how managed to put a stop to the bike's speed but never ended up in locking the front wheel. I've just come from a 300-400 kms trip to ooty and bandhipur and the roads are as wet as ever which includes red soil spillings on the road which is as slippery as driving in slush itself and still managed to do some 50's and 60's without any problems and with engine braking. All that i can tell u is don't lose hope u can master the techniques easily if u have the confidence and never lose it.
And Btw. Welcome to X-BHP!
I have ridden various types of bikes for the last 12years and also managed to ride 200 for 2.5years with 20k on the odo so i am pretty much experienced.
Fiero's rear wheel used to skid a lot but after changing to Ceat tyre it become normal.
My 200's rear wheel doesn't bother me, its the front wheel.
When u brake in an emergency u tend to apply more pressure to the front brakes and my front wheel locks up instantaneously making the bike skid in gravel or sand...and also its quite slippery in wet roads.
So will tyre change help?
Even now when i ride bikes like Unicorn,GSR150,CBZ-Extreme i never feel uncomfortable or nervous.
Looks like Pulsar is very front heavy..so it definitely needs better rear brake.
Can we reduce the bite of the front brake to prevent locking?
Please help and once again thanks for all your help.

I advice u change to a better front tyre (R15's 80/90 or FZ's 100/80) and install ABS to your front brake. I can understand that u are using your front brake like a drum brake in panic braking and are having lockups. Instead try to use the brake judiciously and see the difference. If u install the ABS it will reduce the braking bite. U will have the liberty to squeeze the brake lever more than what normally u can. In simple words the braking would be delayed marginally.Originally posted by Fierodasan View PostThanks Dual disc 200 and EL LOCO DIABLO for detailed advise and suggestions.

I'm sorry but i believe you are missing the point here, you need to get comfortable with slippery or gravel terrain, your inhibitions are the main reason for being uncomfortable with your bikes brake, the bike is absolutely fine the brakes are so designed for a particular reason. It would prove to be very unwise if you try to alter the brakes in any way, as then braking in tarmac would be affected to a great extent, IMO we drive faster in good roads than in slippery terrain, and here you need all the brakes bite you can get during an emergency. First try to remove any pre-conceived notions about your bike and practice your front brakes.Originally posted by Fierodasan View PostThanks Dual disc 200 and EL LOCO DIABLO for detailed advise and suggestions.

Thanks mate. I never heard of ABS for bikes? something new to me.how much will it cost and where will you get it?Originally posted by rahul9985 View PostI advice u change to a better front tyre (R15's 80/90 or FZ's 100/80) and install ABS to your front brake. @El loco diablo: Thanks for your reply.I will try to get rid of those inhibitions and pray i don't fall one more time
.
And anyone has got a solution for the rough hand grips? i am travelling around 40kms daily in city traffic conditions..and after riding it for 10mts i can see the deep imprint of the hand grip pattern in my palm. quite painful really.
I tried an off-market grip before removing the original grip but it created some sort of problem with throttle response.so removed it.
Is it possible to fit either apache or unicorn or even fiero's grip replacing the original one?

You'll get Double Ester Technology in Fully Synth's and Single Ester Technology in Semi-Synth.. AFAIK many 200/220's leak oil from cylinder head when using 300v! Although your bike may be lucky enough to withstand it!Originally posted by Veeral View PostThanks mate...
Thanks...wats the diff between semi-syn and fully syn...wat wud be the diff to my bike.
In layman terms Fully synth's will last longer and engine will be smoother when compared with Semi-synth
Since u have completed 30k kms i recommend using Semi-Synth only

Its not ABS per se, more like a distributive brake system purely mechanical rather than digitally controlled like in a ABS, here the braking is distributed 50/50 to both the wheels whenever you engage either of the two brakes, this works to a certain extent but you will lock wheels when in loose terrain, also the brakes would feel softer with DBS. Whereas in a Anti-lock Braking System the ECM detects a wheel about to lock/ detects lack of grip and adjusts braking to prevent a skid.Originally posted by Fierodasan View PostThanks mate. About the hand-grips, why don't you try going for a good set of gloves? I mean a 40km daily commute is a pretty good excuse to get yourself a full gauntlet gloves (Covers till your wrist), a good gloves prevents a hurting palm and also protects it during a spill. As you said throttle grips will "deaden" the throttle feel and finer throttle adjustments become problematic, though that is how i personally feel.I'm too intelligent to the unintended, and too dumb for the obvious.
