U will not go wrong with all the three scooters ur looking for
Build quality any time go for Vespa - All Metal body with an Bullet proof engine returns amazing mileage and stability - Servicing is good AFAIk
Activa another any time good scooter - Only concern is a bit bulkier - No Brake Lock (its a concern for me since i stay in a semi hill area) Servicing is really good - my friend has a activa and he praises honda for servicing
Swish another japanese - full fiber body - lesser weight than other two - i would say go for access then swish - i didn't feel comfortable with swish since lesser weight and a bit lengthier but its got same engine of access so engine quality should be good
My Final choice -
If price is not a concern close your eyes with Vespa
Else - activa or access

HELP! Access 125, magnet/dynamo fan broken!
My younger brother's access 125 was running fine untill 4 days back. Suddenly the scooter started making loud screeching noise while running. I showed it to a mechanic, he opened the fan (near the silencer, which covers the dynamo magnet) compartment and ALL the fan blades fell out. They were all broken somehow but nobody knows how. He did have a minor accident a month back, but that was on the left side whereas the fan is on the right side.
I have gone to suzuki ASC in my city, they don't have it in stock, told me to order it. None of other shops have it too.
My queries:
1. How on earth does the fan blades break on its own? Maybe it was tampered or somebody put a screw, nail etc inside that fan compartment, but nothing fell out of there besides the broken blades.
2. The local mechanic told me to fit a new fan ASAP, and not to drive the scooter longer than 2 kms, else the engine will overheat and SEIZE UP. Is that true?
3. How long could it take the suzuki ASC to deliver it?

To me it looks like gearbox issue !Originally posted by arya809 View PostMy younger brother's access 125 was running fine untill 4 days back. Your friend might not have changed gear oil or it might have been damaged by his fall on the left
Change mech asap, some are classic a level a holes !

Yeh, get the fan replaced ASAP. As to the reason why it broke off, It's can only be a guess..could be tampering, foreign object, or maybe one blade broke and that in turn caused damage to the rest etc etc..
How can you correlate the gear box to the fan ?Originally posted by GOLDWING View PostTo me it looks like gearbox issue !

Re: HELP! Access 125, magnet/dynamo fan broken!
Either a fall to the Fan side ,or deliberate damage caused, or the fan was not fitted properly, and somehow worked itself loose and hit the shroud and broke into pieces....these are the only possibilities ..Do not run the engine without the fan as the engine is Forced Air Cooled engine and lack of forced Air will lead to severe engine heat and engine failure...If you are NOT getting the Access fan, try the swish, or other scooter fans of same size and thickness.Originally posted by arya809 View PostMy younger brother's access 125 was running fine untill 4 days back. Re: HELP! Access 125, magnet/dynamo fan broken!
Hi fellow riders,
After a pretty bad service centre experience, i am having all sorts of problems with my access. Its quite old, 2007 december to be precise. It has clocked around 60k, maintained OK i guess
After getting it back from the service centre, the suspension(Front and rear) almost stopped working. Also, the handlebar vibrates too much sometimes when riding from standstill or in between traffic. I know my clutch should be replaced by now. When i accelerate, only the exhaust note goes fast
What would be the problems caused if i ride with an worn out clutch? and also a suspension with no proper setting?
I am visiting a local mechanic to sort things out. Can never trust ASC anymore!

What did they work on in that service? What items were replace and which were adjusted?Originally posted by Mibin M View PostHi fellow riders,

1. Assuming front suspension is oil-damped, did they replace fork-oil?Originally posted by Mibin M View PostAfter getting it back from the service centre, the suspension(Front and rear) almost stopped working. 2. Rear-Suspension may need replacement.
3. By clutch do you mean clutch bell in CVT-Scooter?
- Check belt and clutch spring.
4. Low mileage, and how do you know rear suspension settings were altered(if that was possible)?Originally posted by Mibin M View PostWhat would be the problems caused if i ride with an worn out clutch? and also a suspension with no proper setting?

Re: Suzuki Access125 / Swish125 ownership thread
Dear Freak in Exile,Originally posted by Mibin M View PostHi there,
I Own an Access 125(from the first batch), December 2007 to be precise. It was my father's. After his demise it is being used by me almost all the time. Company serviced and all things clear. Actual odometer reading would be 60k or more because, once when i did a Bangalore- Kochi the meter got stuck and for almost one year i dint change it. As of now the vehicle is being used by me to commute to office(around 45km to and fro). Since it was pretty long that i gave it for service, i gave it for service in Signature Suzuki in Kannur.
Problems faced were,
a) Front suspension was almost not working and fork oil leakage.
b) Handlebar and front end vibrated a lot and cone was the trouble maker.
c) Exhaust note was pretty disturbing when there is a slight uphill road.
d) Acceleration was less.
then all the small niggles which creeped in due to long service time.
After discussing with the advisor and making him understand the troubles, he gave a quote for the repair and approximate time of delivery. Out of which the quote was pretty correct, but delivery was three days after the promised time. After shelling out Rs.4000/- the suspension is still the same or pretty worse. I am very attached to the vehicle since it was my father's, and i really don't let anyone else ride it. Next week i am taking it again to the service center and ask them to repair it for free or else i will definitely shoot a mail to Suzuki(hope it helps).
Attaching the bill given. After all the parts mentioned i guess it should be working fine unless the parts have not really gotten into my vehicle.
Also, this might be the dumbest question you have heard probably, but i am going to ask anyway. I usually ride around 50kmph, very rarely i have crossed 80kmph long back when scooter was in pristine condition. But now when i throttle up, its just the exhaust note increasing rather than speed. Speed increases, but at a very gradual pace and also it feels like the engine is stressed up after 50kmph. Does the scooter learned to be at 50kmph only?
Has its ability to go in higher speeds reduced due to my riding style?
I feel like a total dumb ass now.lol
Please see above, posted by me sometimes back, it has the bill attached. Even after this i took the vehicle upon service manager's request and that stupid changed some bearing in the clutch or somewhere around which costed me another Rs.500/-. Literally i have wasted 5k now. SO my next step should be with caution or else i would be in deep trouble with the vehicle. i plan on keeping it maintained for a long time.

I'm quoting what @s1d 's response to your post then: he is right on the issues:Originally posted by Mibin M View PostDear Freak in Exile,

1. I presume you were not able ride the scooter properly with a bent inner tube. How did it happen, any accidents?Originally posted by s1d View PostLooking at the bill, your front end issues (suspension/coneset etc.) should have been fixed.
Now coming to the last part of your query..
Since you have mentioned the scoot has done over 60k km, it is time the clutch shoes, springs and variator rollers are replaced. Or have you replaced any of these parts in the past ? Their life is around 40k km if the scoot was ridden sanely.
Also make it a point to have the valve clearances adjusted to the correct specs.
The symptoms you mention, like the revs rise up (i.e. as you put exhaust note increasing) but there is no proportional increase in acceleration clearly indicates worn out rollers or clutch components.
...
2. Fork oil will thin out after some riding, and after couple of thousand kilometres it should be fine.
3. I don't think they have done anything to rear suspension. How much does rear-suspension travel on load?
4. What's the current air-pressure(PSI) in those wheels now? Fuel-Bunks usually keep 26 psi for front and 36 psi for rear. If it's not a problem with you then ride the scooter with minimum-required-air-pressure.
Ride the Access125 test-mule which is available with the SVC, point out differences if you notice certainly to the service-guys. Stay with the scooter when they work on it.
It's easy to call others stupid, btw... Did you ask for replaced parts(except for oil-filters)?Last edited by Freak inExile; 04-29-2015, 06:40 PM.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Re: Suzuki Access125 / Swish125 ownership thread
UPDATE:
I managed to get the fan (which cools the engine) from suzuki ASC, but not before 20 days! The ASC guys in my city are not that responsive, as compared to metro cities. After 15 days, I mailed suzuki about the parts problem. I promptly got a call from Gurgaon, someone from the spares department. I explained my situation to him, and he called the ASC owner and instructed him to put a VOR (vehicle off road) order. Under this system, if your suzuki vehicle is out of road, i.e. not in a running condition, they would send the required part SEPARATELY as an urgent order. It would still take a little time depending upon the delivery distance. I got it on the 20th day, i.e. within 4 days of the VOR order.
Whereas the IDIOT spares guy had put a normal spares order for me initially even though I had explained him the urgency.
@psr
Now a new issue has cropped up. Since two days, it doesn't run unless the throttle is opened. The engine revs climb down so quickly, as if the idle has been set at 200 rpms. It doesn't even try to hold the revs at idle speed, the engine just dies as soon as the throttle is released even while driving. The idle rpm was perfectly set by the ASC guys and nobody tinkered with it ever. I can easily adjust idle and AFR settings in motorcycles, but scooters are new for me. Today I tried adjusting the idle via the gap in the body on the left side where the mechanic inserts the screw driver to do it. There are two adjustable screws inside, one is the bronze colored screw which I believe is the AFR screw. The other one is a bigger screw which has got grooves on the outer for grip, just like the idle screw in our carb bikes.
But the idle didn't increase at all, even when I turned the idle screw all the way in or out. Then, I tried changing the AFR screw a little, by around 1.5 turns in either direction, still no change. I returned the AFR screw to the original no. of turns. After this unsuccessful attempt, my bro told me that now engine doesn't die at idle that easily, although he has driven for 2-4 kms only since then.
What could be the problem? Is it an INHERENT problem like air filter, carburetor etc?
P.S. Last month, I checked the oil level and it was too low. But I didn't have any 10w30 oil with me, so I topped up around 200 ml of 20W40 castrol activ. I think it's extremely unlikely that the tiny amount of 20W40 mixed with 10W30 could cause problems.

Re: Suzuki Access125 / Swish125 ownership thread
Arya 809....First of all Castrol is the most copied oil and you seldom get original oil. So avoid using Castrol..Secondly the Access uses a Throttle slide , which is directly controlled by the throttle you give..ie., the throttle slide goes up and down directly in tune with the acceleration you give. This means if you suddenly open throttle, more air will reach engine making AFR Lean...The Carburetor used in Access is 18mm similar to the Hero Splendor and is not a CV(Constant Vacuum) carb. The AFR screw adjusts the Petrol flow, and Hence the AFR metering is critical of the Air Filter Condition. The air filter in Access is also smaller and gets dirty easily. So first try changing the Air Filter, and then set AFR and Idle speed....In Access the idle will never be stable and AFR will continuously change with Air Filter loading with dust...Setting AFR is a Magician's work ..After New Air Filter had run about 500 Kms set the AFR for best FE and Pickup...and NOTE the Number of turns from fully in, and NEVER change this...Access should give 42~44 Kms FE under sane driving. Suzuki markets the same engine in other Countries under the name of Sky Drive, and as a Step Through frame scooter....But the Carburetor is changed to BS 26 which is a CV carb.. You can use most mineral or Semi synthetic oil of 10w40 or 20W40 grade and change at 3,000 Kms.Keep an eye on the level, and if the engine consumes oil it is an indication of failing Rings.Last edited by psr; 04-30-2015, 11:46 PM.When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

Re: Suzuki Access125 / Swish125 ownership thread
I think the idle jet inside the carburetor is clogged . Could have happened when the scooter was standing , evaporating petrol can leave gummy deposits . When this happens the carb's idle jet is passing little / not any fuel and the engine shall have trouble idling , not idle at all and die at signal-stops etc . It shall run kinda okay when throttle is opened because then the main jet is able to supply the fuel . Have the carburetor fully cleaned at the ASC . And of-course check that the fuel-petcock is not dripping and the air-filter is clean and okay . I am sure it's nothing to do with your oil top-up .Originally posted by arya809 View Post.. If you want to do it yourself and the carb is indeed similar to Splendor's , this maybe of some help - http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/motorcyc...tml#post701796
@psr'jee , in the Splendor's carb , the AFR screw adjusts air
.
