Have no doubt, it's one of the major problem.
Yes, your scooter will perform as good as new one, but are you ready to bear expenses?

50 kmpl mileage amidst this issue? I doubt it.

if you ran the scoot without oil, then most likely the bore+piston is screwed and maybe even the bearings/crank might have gone for a toss.
you will at the minimum need:
valve kit + a new bore piston kit.
or a valve kit + rebore job + new piston kit (i would highly suggest the valve kit also be replaced or proper valve lapping is done with just new seals.)
am just assuming the prices based on honda's prices:
1. Vavle kit - around 700rs (includes both valves, seals)
2. Bore+Piston kit - approx. 2600
3. only piston+rings -- approx 700
4. Rebore charges - not more than 300rs.
Labor for replacing the bore kit and valves - around 500. If the bottom end (crankcase) is also opened then it might cost more.

Take it to another Suzuki service centre and check if they are saying the same.
It is better to get it repaired at Suzuki authorized centre. But at the same time we should validate their claims are legit.

you will see the piston skirts (sides) badly worn/scuffed and scratches on the bore. not to mention excessive carbon buildup on the piston crown(top)
pls get the repairs done at the svc since you don't seem to have another choice. and please keep all the bills, jobcard and write your comments if any on the job card before taking delivery. And getting the repairs done in your presence is a good idea. Take prior appointment so that they dont shoo you away saying stuff like 'leave the bike and come back tomorrow"
This way you can at least hold the SVC responsible if the problem crops up again.
If the bore is scratched, then changing only the piston is not going to help. Like i said in my previous post, it might need additional repairs. But try and make sure atleast the valve kit is replaced or they replace the valve seals with valve lapping done.

Use 10w40 and see...10w30 is too thin and may not be suitable ...Regarding engine problem, after filling in New 10w40 oil check if your engine smokes while cold start or during normal running after ,10 Kms ride.. If your Exhaust tip is oily and with sticky soot , it is an indication of Bore and Piston wear..Always replace both Bore + Piston with rings as a set to have peace of mind...

i brought elf total moto4 scooter oil 10w-30 950ml(brought two 800mls) and poured in after the 1st start lots of white smoke came out after a 7kms ride the smoke was barely visible in idle and noticeable in high throttle and while climbing the hills..silencer tip got black carbon deposits with old oil..i wiped the tip with cloth and will check how much this new oil going to make the difference .i enquired out side the market and suzuki access125/swish125 parts are hard to find un like honda activa .i have written down the odo reading and the date of oil refilling its 22343kms on odo.will check the level in between ..i wondering for such a low kms running how the scooter went in to this situation ..after i complain to SVC for mileage issue the scooter was behaving strange increased body vibrations, and harsh sound on high RPMs and engine heat .but mileage was some how around 50+kmpl??? did he tuned to lean side??? how to tune to balanced ???

The Access and swish are supposed to give 40~45 Kms FE ,when driven sedately...anything more is an indication of lean tune leading to higher engine temperature and vibes. Take it back to SVC and get it tuned again.

• Should I give my Swish to a Suzuki Service Centre or some other mechanic?

I've completed 1.5 years and 7000 KMs on my Suzuki Swish. Yes, usage isn't very high. So far i've been giving my bike to authorized service centres here in Mumbai.

A couple of times I've had a few niggling troubles which have required repeated visits to have them rectified.

So I wanted to know if it's a good idea to stick with these people? Or are there any preferred service centres anyone would want to recommend?

Im looking for something in the Andheri - Malad area of Mumbai.

Any help will be appreciated.

Cheers.

• My All New Access 125 in Blue

Hi All

1. I have driven hardly 3K kms in last four years.
2. In winters I hardly take my bike for any ride, as in gurgaon it is very chill
3. Its really painful to see bike standing idle for many days
4. Not able to use it for quick market runs, because it demand proper shoes and getup, you cannot ride it with sandals etc.
5. And if you want to go market for some quick buy, you cannot do it with CBR because it is default to hang any polythene in handlebars.
6. In feb I exchanged my old car with new Baleno, so was pretty much devoting time with it.
7. And the last and important thing.. I was not doing JUSTICE with my bike by keeping her idle or rarely using it..

So after lots of though I planned to sell it with heavy heart.
Then I placed an adin OLX then after 3-4 days one of my colleague consulted me about purchasing CBR for his leh trip then Instantly I said that I am selling my CBR and posted ad in Olx, so he instantly agreed on seeing the bike and after some days bike was sold.

Now, Its time to buya new two wheeler, and it should be Sccoter/Scooty, as It will be used by me and my Wife for small city runs and market runs and it should be scooter. Then I started studying about the scooter and what all models available in market. I explored :-

A

Activa 125 : I did two Test Drive of Activa 125, because, when I did TD first time I felt some vibrations from the handle at very low speed, so I thought that this may be the problem with this TD vehicle, then I went to another honda showroom and done the TD, but I noticed the same issue.
Except from above it is a very good vehicle, engine seems good and pulling power is also good. But the suspension is little hard. But if I ignore these little things, it was a strong contender

Jupiter : I liked this vehicle a lot, some +ve were are soft seat, refined engine, handling and looks. But the colour which I liked was blue and it comes with Beige interiors and I was totally against beige as it is prone to get dirty. And the cost difference was 2500 from the normal variant.

Maestro Edge: Before buying I was decided that I will surely buy this vehicle because it ticks all the boxes in terms of features and looks, so I went to showroom for TD, but when I drives it the engine was a total let down, it feels under powered, and vibrations from handle is too noticeable at the slow speed. Then I dropped the idea for purchasing it.

All new Acesss 125:Went to Suzuki showroom for TD, they were having one vehicle for TD in white color, from looks wise it looked different from other scooters, When I started the scooter and took off, it really gave me nice feeling, engine was super smooth and pulling power with seating two was awesome, and handling also good. It has wide seats and legroom. And claims more FE than Activa 125 as it comes with SEP technology, with All new access, Suzuki has done modification in engine which makes it more refined. So I though this can be a contender .

So the finals was in between Activa 125 vs new Access 125, then I opened a internet and seen all the reviews across different sites and after every review I was getting more inclined towards Access 125.

But if I keep thereviews apart, the strong point of Activa 125 was the combi brakes which wasnot present in Acsess 125, but thenbraking in Access is also pretty good. If uses properly front and back brakesthen I am not going to miss combi brakes and there were other things were infavour of Access 125 like :-

1. New refreshed look and retro design, it really look awesome with chrome
2. Better engine with SEP technology.
3. Company say it will even start in those cold days with ease
4. Wide seats, and leg space.
5. Decent Boot space. (Takes my full face big helmet)
6. Lighter that activa, (as this is also used by my wife)
7. More FE (64kmpl claimed by company, Activa is 59)
8. Front pocket, I swear this is really very handy
9. Boot can be opened from the front key
10. It has one push key shutter close button
11. etc

So finally I booked the vehicle and there was a waiting period of 1-2 weeks and wait started, booking amount was 500, I specifically asked for the July mode as recently there was a recall on All new access for the vehicle which was manufactured till 22 June.

So finally I got the vehicle on 28th July, I went to take the vehicle and within 2 hours he has sold around 4-5 scooters, I think people were waiting for many days as showroom guy told me that they got the lot after 3 weeks.

I added all the accessories like : seat covers, grill all over, mat, handle covers etc.

In the showroom

So for all the gurus - here is my dilemma - recently my Suzuki access (28k kms run ) refused to start - the mechanic nearby told - all the oil is gone - filled it with fresh 900 ml - lots of white smoke - seems the last service wife did, was 5k kms before , so that gives an idea that the engine has developed some snag.

Took it to the ASS - it was declared that the engine would need lot of work in the range 10-12k ( engine rebore etc. ). It almost drank 1 l oil in 2days - so seems the judgment is correct.

So here I am to get your kind advice - as to which ASS in Bangalore is reliable - who would be ok to perform the necessary work in front of me and will be reasonable and trustworthy in terms of durability and money. Or any other reliable friendly mechanic - parts to be bought etc would be highly appreciated.

1) Reliable ASS for engine related work in 28k kms run Suzuki access 125.
2) Or reliable mechanic + where to source original parts requried.
3) How to identify if the told part actually needs to be changed.
4) Anything I need to know - if the process happens in front of my eye.
5) Any other relevant advice - regarding pre - during- post this work.

mods : If similar thread exists - please delete this one. But would be helpful if the information sought is covered in the relevant thread.

-Thanks,

• Re: Suzuki Access125 / Swish125 ownership thread

I had a Honda Trigger taking care of daily office commutes and grocery shop runs. With my Nissan Micra Active taking care of the family runs and the highway trips to my native place. With ever growing Hyderabad traffic and the weekly grocery store runs getting little uncomfortable specially with a pillion, I felt a need to replace my bike with a scooter. This was more of a mind taking over the heart decision than the otherway around. With me being a biker at heart, who loves a little bit of power at hand even on a regular commute, the decision wasn's easy to make. So I kept on postponing it and it was like 9 months back that the decision was made, but I just kept on telling myself 'you wont love those scoots, they wont be anywhere near a bike when it comes to power, handling, cornering and most importantly, that indescribable feeling you get when you are riding a bike'.

When Aprilia announced SR150 at auto expo, I was excited to say the least. A scoot that will fulfill my quest for a proper bike feel with those 14" wheels, proper telescopic forks, 10 odd BHP mill and be a scooter at the same time for the grocery runs. I was eagerly waiting for the launch, but back in my mind I had a feeling that it might put a hole in my pocket to land one in my parking lot having the same engine as the Vespa VXL/SXL 150 which cost my father in law Rs. 1.08 lacs on road here in Hyderabad. In between waiting for the SR150, just checked out All New Access 125 at the near by Suzuki Showroom just to get an idea of what to expect from the scooter, I must confess, I was pleasantly surprised by the ride quality, pick up from stand still with a pillion on board. I went home impressed with the Access.

The second surprise was when Aprilia anounced the launching price of 65k ex showroom, I told my self I have to get one as I thought it was a steal at that price. On one fine day came to know that the SR150 will be launched soon and Aprilia have started accepted bookings for the same. Also came to know about the paytm offer where you book the SR150 by paying Rs. 2000/- and you also get the cashback with a coupon. Went ahead and booked SR on paytm and soon enough got a call from the Aprilia headquarters with confirmation, on 22nd August got one more call from them stating that a test drive vehicle was with the dealership and I can TD it if I was interested. I was just waiting for the call and as soon as got the call, took one of my buddies, who was also in market for scooter to check out the scooter and more importantly to ride one! When we went there and saw the Scooter for the first time, I was super excited to notice anything negative on the SR, my friend though immediately pointed at seat and commented it was too small to seat 2 elders comortably, I was, like a school boy, trying to convince him that it was good enough and with few adjustments 2 can ride on it comortably. When asked about the TD, we got the news that the vehicle was delivered 15 minutes before our visit and the keys were not with the showroom, not knowing how true these statements were, but without any other choice, we left with a promise that we can have a TD the next day. With my friend's words ringing in my ears, I took my better half along with me for the test drive, the good folks at Vespa/Aprilia let both of us to board the scooter and test it properly. Within 5 minutes or so I started to notice some strange noise from the engine, and after like 10 minutes the home minister started complaining that she cant take it any more! The first noise was her hitting the kick rod! And her complaint was due to the lack of space on the seat due to which she had a feeling that she might fall from the scooter, hearing that I turned the handle back towards the showroom. And mind you to make her comfortable I was sitting on the edge of seat and due to which I had a muscle pull in the thigh. So it was a big thumb down from the all important home ministry! The test drive of SR was so short to judge it on anything, but I did notice few things about it though, there was enough grunt in the engine to pull it even with a pillion, the stance of the scoot was very good and unlike anything, the overall build quality was just okay, no way near the Vespa quality we know, the suspension was race set, a little harsh for daily commutes on bad roads, but not as bad as most of the scooters, the only reason I stay away from Activa is due to its harsh ride but SR was far better than Activa but not perfect. So at the end of the day, my dreams were shattered, all the waiting, the excitement, everything came to nothing.

So whete does the Access come into all this? I was just giving a brief how I got into scooters. And on my return journey back to home, there was this same Suzuki showroom that I had once test driven the all new Access 125, and had a fond memory of the ride too. So asked my wife to be my pillion on one more scooter, she agreed and we landed at Suzuki Showroom. There was a white colour Access 125 readily available and once again the showroom guys showed us good faith and let both of us to board it and test it from both rider point of view and pillion point of view. This being an immediate TD after riding the SR, this time I felt the power to be lacking from the word go but still enough, with long seat and long foot board, it was very comfortable to sit and ride, it felt natural, unlike SR where both of us had to compromise in the searing department. Everything from looks to features screamed 'proper family scooter' and my wife immediately nodded. But it was me that was still left thinking! SR was chosen because it was marriage between my needs and my wants, but this is just a need buy with no place for heart. Took few days to sort out everything and went on to book one in Blue with alloy wheels and Disc Brake, the showroom guys kept on calling me and tried to convince me to buy one as soon as possible as there was only one Access 125 with Disc Brake in blue colour!

On the D day, went to the showroom along with couple of friends and completed the formalities, paid the amount, did the quick PDI and took dwlivey of the All New Access 125 with disc brake in Suzuki Blue colour. I, personally always hated those chrome body protecors (forgive my ignorance, I dont remember what they are called) so even before going to the showroom, I told them not to fit any accessory apart from 1. Foot rest 2. Indicator buzzers. And they did exactly what they were told. Handing over the keys was a formal affair with them explaining all the features and how-to's, at this point of time me and my friends realized we have not pressed them enough to get any discount or freebies, so casually checked with the SA and we were promised to get a floor mat and seat cover thext working day, sweet.

Its been 2 weeks since the Access came home which now shares its parking space with the Nissan Micra Active and a 1989 Yamaha RX100, which actually belongs to a dear friend who stays abroad. Two weeks is actually little time to come to conclusions and pass on judgements, but I can surely say that I am no more whining about losing the bike, its not that Access have replaced it in every way, but its because, I have started to enjoy the scooter, for one its no slouch, its comfortable, the twice a week vegetable market runs feel more comfortable now with the large under sear storage and longisb floor. Now I can zip through the traffic without the hassle of changing gears every 100 meters. And one particular aspect that I love the most about the Access is undoubtedly its balance, it doesnt loose its balance even on single digit speeds. So my needs are fulfilled, for the heart though I need to plan something big in the future!!

Is the scooter perfect in whatever it does? I don't think so, there are few thing that would have made it a lot better and desirable.
1. The disc brake, coming from a Trigger its not what I am used to, its more progressive and at times I wonder if it really is a disc brake.
2. The exhaust, the body is curved up and the exhaust pipe with chrome muffler looks out of place and points towards different direction.
3. The exhaust note, nothing wrong about it, but its way too similar to Activa's exhaust note.
4. Tall seat position, me being 5'11" its not a problem, but for shorter riders it wont be comfortable.

So this is about my blue Suzuki Access 125, thanks for reading the long post.

Hi Sumanthdev123,

Was wondering what finally happened to your Access issue ?

Did you finally change any parts ? Went to ASS or your trusted mechanic for repair - and if you did get it repair - what was the issue / resolution and cost of work.

Actually I am in the same boat, but in bangalore - so thought of checking with you.

Thanks in advance
