sure,

Also, what about the honda motor oil fully synthetic version ? is it available somewhere ?

I have seen honda oil FS at the SVC costs around Rs 565+ or try motul 5100 10w30 heard it is very good and i thinks SS oil is good enough for dazzler.
choice is yours...

I bought my bike in Jan 2011 and my first few services was on grade 20w40. That was the stock grade since 2010 and the same is written so in my manual. Then one fine day Honda changed the grade to 10w30 and the service center never gave any explanation for it.

You should use the grade and brand which suits your bike the best. I ran on the "stock" Honda 10w30 oil for 3 services and it sucked, the oil would degrade within 250 kms, the performance sucked and the engine would over heat inside the city in bangalore summer.

All this stopped as soon as I changed back to my original "stock" grade 20w40 (shell ax5). AFA my experience, 20w40 is the best bet for stock dazzler. 10w40 is better during winters. And a good brand where the oil lasts is always better than Honda oil.

FS oil is brilliant for any engine but to be frank it is little bit of an over kill for dazzler. It is better for our engine to use semi synth oil changed every 2000 - 2500 kms rather than keeping the same FS oil in the engine for 4500-6000 kms.

I now use 20w50 Motul 5100 - excellent oil, because i am running a higher compression setup and a big bore engine so 20w40 is not enough to contain the heat that's why I have to use 20w50. But the Motul 5100 lasts only upto 2000 kms.

Just my 2 cents.

Any thing to worry about??
Should i do engine flushing??
1 How its done
2 good and bad of engine flushing

So, its the same with all Honda engines! HH Karizma till 2009 asked owners to fill 20w40 as standard. Then one fine day, they started asking us to put 10w30.
Infact any xxW30 oil sucks. xxW40 is good. Precisely, 15w40 grade has been the best on my bike so far. I won't name the oil here, for members might throw me out saying I've gone bonkers, but rest assured 15w40 won't harm the bike at all. 20w40 is almost as good, it'll retain more viscosity at higher temps.

Depends upon the oil used. 29xx kms for mineral oil and semi synthetic oil is too much.
Drain mineral oils within 2k ans SS within 2.5k. FS oils can last till 3.5-4k kms.
Engine flushing isn't needed for bikes. Its more of a marketing gimmick. I haven't done it on my bike which is 35k kms old and touch-wood runs like a charm!

What Divya Sharan has said is absolutely bang on target. No engine flushing required for small high revving motorcycle engines. I would say switch to any good semi synth (shell seems good and is cheap also, motul is awesome but it has become way too costly now so I am shifting to shell SS for my next change). And keep the SS till 2.5k and all should be good.

Will try that today and let you know the results.

By the way, I am also going to change the engine oil to Motul 7100 20w50 Fully synthetic as suggested by local Motul representative Mr. Rana Vikas
First time i heard about a Fully Synth oil with 20w50 range

But i think that it is too thick for dazzler, it will act sluggish and heavy..use 10w 40 and you'll be fine.

My dazzler is running 15529 kms been using repsol Sintetico, gear shifting is very smooth compared to the Honda oils and shell oils.

I change it every 1.5kms.. Fully synth has longer life than minerals, where you change max it out upto 5000kms, but others changes oil every 3.5k kms to be on the safer side

Thanks mate

I also think the same as previously suggested by Neil and Vajra. So now I am going to stick to existing oil "Shell AX5 mineral 20w40" as its just changed some 15 days back. after that I am going to switch to Motul's 10w40 300V FS oil.

Hi all i have another discovery for all dazzler users.

Lately my bike was having starting issues where i was only hearing a 'CLICK' sound and nothing more, starter motor is not kicking and i had to push the button several times worst you have to long press the button and hope that will kick in.

As you noticed i changed my battery to a bigger one. But i did ask my mechanic Honda about my problem. I was so impressed on how he diagnosed my bike and the eagerness to fix it, He even asked me if I want him to repair the old relay, i said no. I'll buy a new one.

With a volt tester, he tested my old battery, starter motor and even cleaning my starter motor but no luck, until he tested my starter relay.. boom he got it.. he said that the starter is just giving out .8 volts instead of 24 for the starter to kick the engine..

He may have noticed that im not convinced, he took another relay and that worked with no issues 1 CLICK START!!

I then rushed to the nearest shop as they they dont have it and cost me 180 Pesos..

I heard that a lot of people are suffering this.. so heres the solution.

I think Honda India needs to think about these relays as its the only way for this bike to start..

Anyway.. I'm a happy camper now.. no more worries

Glad that you found the solution. Yes, its a given when your bike doesn't crank but the horn, lights, console etc work properly that the relay is busted. Push start is the only solution then.

If the battery is fine, relay would be the culprit. Very rare cases, starter motor might be the culprit.

The best oil for Honda engines is Shell AX7, a semisynth, 10w40. This is better than any other Motul oils. Engine runs cooler compared to Honda's 10w30 oil.

The Honda 10w30 oil being thin, provides slightly quick acceleration, but makes the engine hot comparatively. Honda's 10w30 oil is made by three manufacturers; Savita Chemicals (in collaboration with Idemitsu Japan), Tide Water oils (in collaboration with JX Nippon, Japan), and Bharat Petroleum. Of these three oils, the oil made by Idemitsu is the best and lasts longer compared to other two. The second is the oil made by Tide Water India. The oil made by BP is the worst and lasts for very less kilometers.

But, these days, I haven't found the Honda oil made by Idemitsu anywhere. The other day, when I was collecting some spares from a local shop, I noticed some Honda 10w30 oils made by Idemitsu (Savita Chemicals) and these were 800ml cans meant for scooters. I bought three cans and used it in my Karizma. Bike is running very smooth but engine is getting comparatively hot than the 10w40 Shell AX7. After 350 kms, I checked the color of the oil and its just new. If anybody still wants to use the 10w30, just get the one made by Idemitsu.

No idea. These are my personal experiences since a long time. Hero Honda used the Idemitsu made 20w40 oil for decades, and the engines ran for lacs of kms with few issues. Even Honda started using this oil when they entered India till 2010 when everybody moved to 10w30 grade. Since then, may be due to capacity issues, apart from Savita, Tide Water and BP also making the oil for Honda.

Maybe, you can try for yourself. Get cans of both Savita and BP. Use and check the color of the oil at regular intervals and compare.

I also noticed this.. although they are all honda.

I had several honda mopeds and all of them came from Honda Thailand this is my first Honda from india.. do not get me wrong im talking from what i experienced..

Going back, my Honda mopeds from Thailand NEVER HAD any issues with wirings and relays.. as long as you keep it stock..

My Suzuki Moped from Thailand as well is now 99.999kms beating the Digital Odometer.. starts like new using Electric Start..

The relay that i tested is from thailand.. i was on the verge of buying that Thailand Made relay as i know it is better
