True that! This bike will surely not disappoint! The difference in character is what makes it fun for me. Waiting to ride it!
Cruising along at 120-130kmph. Bangalore-Hyderabad 6 hours, yumm!

I love their new strategy of pay less, get more-it appeals to Indians very much!

The CBR250R definitely looks like a proper upgrade to the Karizma R.

It is what the ZMR should have been.

The chartacter of the engine is quite the opposite to that of the R15, but this one definitely sounds apt for touring.
Although an upgrade, it will be difficult for an R15 addict to adjust to this bike.
    EDIT:
Whats the point in giving test ride to those who book it!? Even if one is not happy with the bike after the test ride, there will be nothing he can do as the bike is already booked.
Majority of the amount will be refundable. My friend got back 8 out of 10K which he had paid for R15 as booking amount.
Honda charging only 5K for booking amount is unbelievable.
To imagine PBK was planning to charge Rs.2K for a Ninja test ride!
Anyway, I love the concept of a do it all bike, the way Honda is positioning&pricing it, 250cc will be what 150cc is today. Else we will still have people treating 250cc 'imported' bikes like SBKs, which they are not.
    Way to go Honda!
    Quench my thirst with gasoline!

If test rides will be given only on booking & the amount is non-refundable, then what I said above will hold good, & hence the test ride will make no sense whatsover.

If test rides will be given only on booking & the amount is refundable, then people who want to only test ride the bike (& not buy it), will test ride it & then cancel their booking stating whatever reasons & get their amount back. So all one will need is liquid cash for the booking amount (INR 5,000) in their pocket, which they will anyways get back.

If test rides will be given to anyone who asks for it & without booking, then there will be a long queue. Every person on the street will want to take a test ride.
Adding to this, in my city getting a Dazzler out of the show room for a TD is the biggest head ache. but hell it's way easy to get a R15 out. This will sum-up their CBR TD's!

That will never happen. The masses will never pay 1.5L+ for a bike used for daily commute.
Paying 1.1L+ for an R15 cannot be comprehended by most people, forget 250s becoming the order of the day (unless priced significantly below the 1 lakh mark).

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

        • Called up Druvdesh Honda to enquire about booking. A lady picked up the call at the other end.

Me :- Madam, have you started accepting CBR250R bookings.
          Lady :- Yes.
Me :- How much for booking?
Lady :- We have zero percent finance option, etc.
          Me :- Madam, I am talking about CEE BEE R 250 R.
Lady :- What. I havent heard of anything of that sort. I was talking about the Honda Twister.
Me :- Honda has put up on its website that it is taking bookings.
Lady :- These people put anything on the website, dont believe all that.
Me :- Just slam the phone and the lady is still blabbering at the other end.

Any other showrooms near by Mekhri Circle that are taking bookings?

You are in a way correct that it might not appeal for the daily commute requirement. If you look at the Indian market today and 10 years back, you'll see sea of change happened in due course. Lot of bikes playing into market catering different requirements. These 250 cc entering into the market would rise the bar of expectations and though it might not be a good hit among commuter type riders, however, it would be a good appeal amongst the youngsters constantly crave for style and power. It's my personal opinion.

I agree to the part in bold. But this will not make it a success wrt the masses. The 250cc segment will remain desirable & not practical for the masses so long as the prices remain what they are right now.
The existing bikes do the job very well for the masses, & a bigger bike is only a want, not a need.
Moreover, the 1 lakh mark is a huge phychological barrier to cross, especially when almost all offerings in the market are below that mark.

                        Hi guys,

Received a call from Universal Honda in response to my query..

guy said 1.5 Lacs ex-showroom for non-ABS and 1.8 Lacs for ABS.. both are tentative prices.. and all depends on what it is priced at when Honda releases the bike and more details later on ..

hes not sure bout the HRC coloring for ABS though...

still hope alive that it may be priced 1.5 Lacs OTR..
I speak the truth not so much as I would like to, but as much as I dare, and I dare a little more as I grow OLDER.!!

                        • The ex-showroom prices itself told by HMSI will be more or less depending on the state and cities. So, 1.5L is not going tobe the actual ex-showroom price across all over India. (Correct me if I am wrong?) So, it's not what we all think, it will be close to Ninja in many states.

Bangalore is an exception because of the exceptionally high road taxes. This is how it pans out:

                            Ex-Showroom: 1.5 lakhs
Road tax at 12.5%: 19 thousand
                            Insurance: Rs.4500
                            Cess at 3%: 4500

                            Total: 1.78 OTR.

Do similar maths on a 1.8 ex-showroom and you will come to 2 lakh something.

+1. I too don't understand this. I will no way book a bike that's still 2-3 months away from actual launch. It does'nt matter who is the manufacturer, after all if I donot love the bike after seeing it PRACTICALLY, what's the point of owing one. No offence to anyone.
