+ I guess the muffler currently shown on the bike may not be available for Indian Version. Hence the global specs does not have any mention in the spec sheet along with the power and torque values. This will vary with region as per the local rules and regulations.

My comments in bold. So true. These are the effects of CBR 250. And People here are clamouring for CBR 150i at 1.1L which would be more destructive for the whole Indigenous industry (150-160 class).By pricing it at 1.5L
- The R15 is more or less dead, thanks to phat arse and new looks. Totally agree. Its (R-15/ Vixion) period is over in flat 3 years, not only in India, but in whole Asean countries in its current form irrespective of CBR 250's pricing in India.
- The P220 folks who bought it on full payment have something to look upto the ones who bough a cheap 220 bike where the cheapness prevailed the perfomance would continue buying it. The rest would be a scatter. Mr. RB has said to launch big models in next year, mostly after 2-3 months. A speculation - A Pulsar 220 with slightly bigger engine (4th Overbore) and 4 valve with 23 PS FI still available at 90K would be their bid to survive on affordability factor. Let us see.
- It kills the yet to rise bikes from indigenous manufacturers... What would happen to P180, RTR180/225, and others.

We are indeed talking about ex factory.. Just like base model of Tata Nano costs 1lac.. but OTR pricing is more like 1.45lacs.(without a/c without front power windows, black bumpers, no lhs mirror) Tata fulfills its promise of 1 lac car.. and also manages to sell it at 1.45lacs.Originally posted by trustvishwas View PostAre we talking about ex factory or ex showroom?
BTW, octroi, taxes and insurance on ninja was 40k. Base price 2.56 + 40 = 2.96k. It can't be 60k on a base price of 1.5 Lakhs.
2.5 Lakh for a single cylinder bike is a big NO NO.
At 1.5 ex Factory (Not ex showroom) Honda fulfills the promise of a 1.5 lac 250, and still sells it for 2. I am not giving honda any ideas.. Its their idea.. I am just doing a pardafaash
(calling a bluff)
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

I doubt the Honda would harm sales of the P180, RTR180 (which are at 50-60% of its price)...Originally posted by Technician View PostWhat would happen to P180, RTR180/225, and others.
You will surely see guys upgrading to the Honda from these bikes... But these bikes will still see demand from guys wanting "fast and cheap" bikes...I like 'em Naked

The 250 would be like a lid on the top... any CBU comparable to the looks\cc\specs ( in that order) cant be priced in competition to that price.Originally posted by Technician View PostMy comments in bold. The smaller bikes will continue to sell and will wait another day where Honda would squash it with is efficient engines.. and that work has alrady worked with the Twister
I guess we will be cocooned in this 100-250CC for a good while now - UNLESS the Japs (likely) or the Indigestion prone Indigenous(unlikely) come up with a Higher CC/Looks/Spec bike around that price.
A gt650 for 3L, a KTM500+ for 3L, a Pulsar 300 for 1L and TVS XL 65 and a RTR based step thru .. or a RTR220 for 70k wouldnt help them for long either :P
Anything below the 250CC mark is just waiting for being squashed... Time for Indian manufacturers to wake up!
If Honda gets the 150i under 1L then our so called performance segment industry is more or less dead!

Those who buy them for their price may continue to do so. Others, may have a choice. But certainly there will be a deflection. And when the deflection would be from a niche segment which already has low sales figures, the segment itself would be unteanable. How about sales figures of 10,000 each per year for these bikes for each manufacturers.I doubt the Honda would harm sales of the P180, RTR180 (which are at 50-60% of its price)...

And even with that, remaining a sitting duck for Honda.. Hondas USP is efficiency.. the day it brings a 100, 150CC bike that behaves like a charm (read the existing twister, unicorn) in an economical form.. its like another blow!Originally posted by Technician View PostThose who buy them for their price may continue to do so. Guess it comes down to how many people buy them for the price or for lack of decent options...I like 'em Naked

I agree with what you said earlier about the "CBR" tag being just to dupe people.Originally posted by satyenpoojary View PostEdit: Ranjith.. Bingo.. and they still call it CBR and not CB! :P
HONDA has clearly studied the market...they clearly aren't trying to take on the 250R..the specs say it but they are offering a well powered 250 which is more like a tourer which only deserves a semi fairing but plonks a full fairing and the CBR tag to keep the folks happy!
CBR250 will always sell more than a VFR250
look at the commercial video...its all about touring...not even a pinch about sports biking!
anyway @<2L this is a great machine!
and if uve got 3L...NINJA IT IS!
