Hey friends don't you think this is unethical practice. The video submitted here by Mallikarjun is not showing any readings on speedo. Is it possible to remove the speedo sensor wire. If it is possible then they will sell this test drive bike to someone else.

Yes it is possible to remove the speedo sensor and yes they will sell this bike to some customer. Happens all the time at every brand & dealer.Originally posted by DRRAVINDERCHOPRA View PostHey friends don't you think this is unethical practice. To regulate this, I think there should be some sort of a law making a provision that 'test ride' vehicles be painted a particular color (or marked appropriately) and registered accordingly. But again, I don't think every dealer will invest money on test bikes.. At-least the manufacturers should be providing dedicated test bikes to the dealers (at-least have a few test mules per city spread across the dealers)

Yes you are right... It should have diff color and different registration procedure...Originally posted by s1d View PostYes it is possible to remove the speedo sensor and yes they will sell this bike to some customer. Happens all the time at every brand & dealer.

Another way I can think of is like registering the chassis number. And There should be an online facility to check whether that chassis is registered previously or like new one.
And When I went to test ride the FZ250. The speedo meter was disconnected for it too.

I am not sure, but I dont think they can do this in new D390 as its based on CANBUS. Have to check though.

Here in Karnataka also, the showroom people have quoted me 6000 for the insurance which is too much I know a friend in one insurance company and he said he will do it for less around 4K; also its a bumper to bumper, so its better to opt for the other insurance agents than the showrooms offer

Re: 2017 KTM Duke 390, 250 and 200 launched
Zero dep Insurance in Mumbai is 4636/- as quoted by KTM east, Mumbai. They have mentioned it as comprehensive insurance but the showroom guys told me its zero dep that they are offering.
PS:: What is the RTO percent for a new bike in Mumbai? The amount KTM has quoted is approx 11.5% of ex-showroom cost.
EDIT:: Called up Mumbai RTO. They said for 390cc 10% + processing fee + service tax.
Worli RTO direct number : 022-24935857

Re: 2017 KTM Duke 390, 250 and 200 launched
Any one heard about the increase in MVT ( Motor Vehicle Tax ) here in Karnataka yet? Wanted to know if that's the same thing as Road Tax. It was on budget 2017 and seems its increased from 12% to 18% for the coming financial year for bikes costing more than 1 lakh. If it is indeed road tax, could lead to about 15k price bump in Karnataka for the 390 OTR, which is a huge deal. Would like to know any more into on it if some one has a clue, cheers!

, As if the price of the new 390 was not high already, not that i wont buy despite the bump, but for the quality of roads here in Bangalore and state highways in general in Karnataka, its an unfair increase in tax rates.

Been in Bangalore for just about a year. I have no idea why the road tax is so high!? The road infrastructure is abysmally pathetic.Originally posted by dhanushdp View PostDamn

As if it was not already high, the Govt is going to increase by 18% effective 1st April for vehicles above 1L.
