    This is surely my wishful thinking (not sure stupid or not) but I too have this speculation (I know this word is being hated now) that it must be somewhere in the range 1.8-2.2 L for the reasons that - If bajaj had to buy this bike from Thailand in 1.4 lakhs, impose duty to raise the price to 2.8+ and sell it off, it wouldnt have to postpone the launch of the bike at least twice. It would have been quite smooth.

    The reason it might have taken this long is - price negotiations followed by importing it the CKD way from Thailand (to make sure FTA between the nations is taken advantage of), and then finally assembling the bike here in India.

      When people buy the Ninja 250R, the break-in period will the hardest part. It appears the rev limit is 4000 rpm during the first 1000kms or so.

                  just went to local probiking dealer here in vijayawada to ask abt the price of ninja 250...they weren't even aware that such a model was coming...lol!!!

                      i hope that its doesnt come with a saree guard because it spoils the looks of the bike....but due to our indian norms, who knows they might keep it...

                        i know it looks funny when when u see a saree guard on a bike that too a sports bike..looks silly on my R15 too.
                        but if u have have seen a few dupatta strangulation cases you wouldn't be laughing your ass off....no offence meant...in case you ever plan to take women wearing dupattas or sarees on your bike do not ever remove the guard...

                            My two cents on this since you brought this up...

                            I have seen dupatta strangulation happening first hand on a motorcycle just ahead of me, something which I will never forget, even though it was ten years ago.

                            Riders who intend to carry pillions (with loose clothing) on sports bikes should be sensible enough to know the possible risk of doing so, and should take precautions accordingly. But India, sadly, is a country in which people have scant regard for any kind of personal safety, so Bajaj might actually go ahead and offer an optional saree guard. I won't be surprised at all, but that will only reflect our 'chalta-hai' attitude to safety.

                                Advice is a form of nostalgia.
                                Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.
