  • Kawasaki to launch 3-4 products by 2012

After the roaring success of the Baby Ninja 250, Kawasaki is turning on the heat in the superbike market along with Indian partner Bajaj Auto.
It’s been merely six months and already 500 such beauties are plying on the Indian roads to excite the market.
The top officials of Kawasaki told NDTV that there will be atleast 3-4 new super bikes launched over the next 12-24 months, either as completely built units or in a knocked down form.
According to sources, the next in the line could be Kawasaki 600 cc super bike.
With the opening of the new office, Kawasaki will be able to offer a whole host of offerings to the super bike lovers in a short span of time and as far as Ninja 250 goes, the company is already talking about doubling the production capacity to 200 units a month within a year’s time.
Hiroshi Takata, Sr VP of motor cycle and engine at Kawasaki Heavy Industries Limited, said, "IKM is expecting its release of several super sport, sport and cruiser models, primarily in the 250 cc class or greater, to drive sales up to around 1,000 units in 2010.”
These super bikes will be sold through Bajaj's Probiking showroom and will be assembled at the company's Chakan plant.
Now since the company’s new office would be located at Pune, both partners will look at bigger localisation opportunities to lower costs and also, the partnership in not restricted to India. Bajaj and Kawasaki are exploring various options of joint manufacturing, assembling and capitalising on each other’s distribution network in South East Asia, Africa and Latin America. Rajiv Bajaj, MD of Bajaj Auto, said, "We are studying a lot of different options. There are a lot of opportunities in the market of Indonesia where both companies have operations. There are opportunities in the markets of Thailand as well." Well, the opportunities are plenty and the superbike market is also expected to grow. With this recent move Bajaj will expand its presence in the super bike segment and Kawasaki will benefit from assembly, sales and distribution network. However, the duo will have to make sure that prices stay as attractive as the bikes.

Also after all the noise made before the launch of RTR 180, now it is too calm to believe TVS is going to launch the bigger bike any time soon. But i will be more than happy to be proven wrong
That noise was only limited within xBhp realms!!

Ask a normal person on road about RTR 180.And he would be like RTR..what?
(from personal experience and that too that guy was working in a IT firm at Blore)

It's 6th May.Still no news about the new Unicorn.

But I can tell u that roads around Mumbai and the ghats are full of twisties and tunnels and pretty wet throughout the year and they are public roads, not racetracks. Now public roads are where most bikes would spend their lives. These roads provide better experience with emergency braking, crosswinds at high speeds and suspension setting.I for my part would urge the TVS to better their product at handling vibes and smoothening transmission.
lol I hope you were trying to be funny

Hey apache is really good in cornering just we have to change the stock tyre so handling is good even I think r15 & RTR are the two best handling bike available I drive my RTR 160 FI to office everyday and return and hell do lots of cornering very comfortably and yes there is vibes but when u do all the cornering and crisp throttle you will forgot everything and ride with a big smile

            • Seems Kawasaki's doing a smart job of leaving the 100-230 segment to the Bajaj and leading straight away from 250-1400cc and more for cruisers.I however feel that they should bring the ZZR1400 here, they can deliver one only when ordered. It would be a great flagship for Kawasaki.People can ride it !!!!!!!!

It must be a old model as said on website "old wine in a new bottle"

                    • After reaping strong benefits from two of its preimum level products, the FZ series and the YZF-R15, India Yamaha Pvt. Ltd. is now gearing up to venture into the highly lucrative and potent scooter market in India with the new BW's 125 Fi.

The BW's 125 Fi was first introduced internationally by Yamaha in 2008 and since then it has garnered great response in all markets where it has been launched. The latest version of the Yamaha BW's 125 has been released internationally and the same model will be soon launched in India by Yamaha.

This funky-styled scooter is powered by a 125cc, 4-stroke single cylinder, fuel injected air-cooled engine. Highlight of the BW's 125 Fi is that its chassis and body structure is designed in a manner that offers great ride quality on tarmac as well as while tackling light off-roading like unpaved roads and bad surfaces.

Dynamically, a taut chassis, the telescopic front suspension and twin rear shock absorbers are ideal to tackle our Indian roads. The large 12 inch wheels are shod with all-terrain tyres that ensure the feel of the road is maintained all the time. Extra design touches include an artfully designed instrument panel, and an underseat storage for a full-face helmet.

The Yamaha BW's 125 Fi has the right appeal to catch the fancy of youngsters in metros but the price of this scooter will be a defining factor for it to do well in India. Yamaha has hit the right notes with the motorcycles and we really hope that they do a similar job of smartly pricing the BW's 125 Fi. With Honda dominating the scooter segment in India, Yamaha has a big task at hand of luring the scooter buyers away from the Honda showrooms.

                        • The Yamaha scooter looks awesome. Lets see if the Yamaha really gives competition to the Honda's monopoly in scooter segment, I strongly pray for that. Thought Suzuki would give tough competition, but Suzuki was never serious about the Indian Market.

well ravi, according to me that wouldn't be the case.. Scooters in india are mostly ridden by our dad's or mom's mostly by people over the age of 30 to 35.. and by a few bunch of teenagers.. and afaik these design wouldn't appeal to them.. they would like something which is classy and not something that is funky..!! although these designs would become a hit amongst the Youth..!!
