Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hey man, i have one question regarding valve clearance. since you do it yourself i think you can answer it. on this bike valve clearance increases or decreases over time ?Originally posted by paul.1911 View Post
asking this because so far i have been checking clearance and adjusting it myself every 1500km (current odo 6.6k) and every time the gap decreases to 0.08 or 0.09 from 0.10mm on exhaust valve, although the inlet valve stays same 0.07mm. i always check clearance using same feeler gauge in morning when engine is completely cooled overnight.
other than that and the tappet noise when engine is warm enough, i have 0 issues with mileage or performance. getting 42km/l in city and 45-48km/l on highway. only thing i have changed in engine is the spark plug (to iridium one).Fz25 2018 (ABS retrofitted)

In case anyone's interested, Motul 5100 10w40 is available for 486 Rupees (54 off) on Amazon.
Experience-
Compared to Yamalube, it reduces the rattle and lasts longer. It is otherwise similar to other mineral and semi synthetic oils.
For peace of mind, use Yamalube and change it at around 2-2.5k.Last edited by Shashank K R; 04-23-2019, 01:56 AM.

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
I might take delivery of matte black bike tomorrow. Should I upgrade tyre? How good are the stock tyre for the performance of engine.
I had a d390 (2013) which I sold.I'm a responsible rider.It doesn't matter what you ride,but what matters is how you ride.

I have been using the Matt black FZ25 for about a month now. Tyres are good on normal tarmac/cemented roads. It's the occasional tiny gravel which will make you loose a bit of confidence, though ABS makes up for it.Originally posted by Legend Racer View PostI might take delivery of matte black bike tomorrow. If you really want to go for the masseters or the pirelli sports wait for the monsoons and rough up the current tyres till then, following proper engine break-in of course.

Stock tyres are pathetic. Here are suggestions for better tyres:Originally posted by Legend Racer View PostI might take delivery of matte black bike tomorrow. Should I upgrade tyre? How good are the stock tyre for the performance of engine.
I had a d390 (2013) which I sold.
1. MRF Revz at the rear only. Good radial for dry weather. Will not inspire confidence in wet conditions.
2. MRF Masseter both front and rear. The best VFM tyres as of now. A good balance of all-condition grip and longevity.
3. Michelin Pilot Street Radials. Front will be an upsize, but probably the best combination to have as of now. Great in all conditions.
4. Pirelli Angel City. Long lasting tyres with not such great grip.
5. Pirelli Diablo Rosso II. Leech tyres for all conditions, but soft compound, so won't last more than 12000 kms.
6 Metzeler Sportec M5. Absolutely the best. But don't expect life beyond 8000 kms.

Thanks. I'm new to this bike and no idea about the tyre options.Originally posted by alanwake View PostI have been using the Matt black FZ25 for about a month now. In 2 mind. Thinking of selling new tyre in olx and buying better ones. Or as you said use 40-50% and throw it out.
Would like to have a set of options with price and review by side. I think tyre size is adequate for the power it makes. I mean is it really needed to go for pirelli rosso2 150 and 110 section?I'm a responsible rider. It doesn't matter what you ride, but what matters is how you ride.

I'd suggest 140 for rear. 110 front is fine,I found it better than 100Originally posted by Legend Racer View PostGuys would it be good to go with pirelli diablo Rosso2. 150 and 110 combination. Upsize from 140 and 100.
I'm selling stock new tyres at 4000.

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Completed approx 550 kms yesterday and as per comments on my previous post by bhpians the gear shift seems to be little smoother now, However i have a few issues that seems to worry me after i have started running on little higher rpms after first 500 kms as mentioned in manual,- My front handle seems to have alignment issues as i have a slightly tilting feeling towards right side, Is this normal, could it be manufacturing defect?(No hard bumps or crash/fall or even slightest of hard braking till now) How to verify if everything is ok?
- Do i need to perform any maintenance activity from now until i take it to the first service?
- Btw mileage on console shows around 37 kmpl.[Includes majorly Pune city traffic and some highway riding.]
Thanks in advance!Last edited by Imsanky; 04-28-2019, 09:34 PM.

Depends on how you ride.Originally posted by Legend Racer View PostI might take delivery of matte black bike tomorrow. Should I upgrade tyre? How good are the stock tyre for the performance of engine.
I had a d390 (2013) which I sold.
1. Sane/slow/smooth/"typical uncle" => stock, will easily last 30-35k (but typically hardens after 15-20k and starts slipping)
2. City with bad roads+cornering+moderate-hard riding =>
Michelin Pilot street radial/Pirelli Angel CT/MRF Masseter (all 3 are similar tyres, have experienced these myself on the FZ25).
These may last anywhere around 20-25k, sometimes even more
3. Very hard+lot of high lean cornering+emphasis on maximum performance => Metz/Pirelli Diablo Rosso II, will last around 8-15k
From a performance/price perspective, MRF Masseters are unbeatable.
Most tyre shops give a discount on the new tire after exchange. For maximum discount, go ASAP to a tyre shop. I've done this twice for the rear tyre, got 2200 off on the Pilot Streets (stock tyre exchanged - MRF Revz M from the Gixxer) and 1800 off on Pirelli Angel CTs (for FZ25 stock tyre).Last edited by Shashank K R; 04-28-2019, 02:13 AM.
