Fireblah as you are using MOTUL chain lube you can go and buy the MOTUL chain clean too because it is designed to clean chains without causing any damage to rubber parts or so....i use it on my R1....first clean with chain clean and then lube it...

Yes, the three times i have cleaned my chain, I have only used Motul chain clean.
I use wd40 only to remove grease from other metal parts.

Rain has changed Kolkata roads. Last night was a rainless night after almost a fortnight, so I took the blade for a ride. I have seen roads getting bad during monsoons, but what I met with last night shocked me.
The roads does not exist at all at some stretches. It has been replaced by mounds and craters so deep that someone can have a bath in them !!
Makes me sad that the authorities just wanna fill up their pockets and they do not leave even a basic thing as roads for this.....

that is really good to know this post has really help making the descioin to buy the fireblade, sadly they dont have it in your color any more only black is available..

Intrestingly the(nariana honda showroom) told me they are going to charge for the service , not just consumable but also labour etc. unless its a manufacturing defect.
is this true for your case as i see post about they flying to fix the problem for free.

They did fly to Kolkata to fix the problem. But that could come under manufacturing defect. To this date, I still do not know what was wrong with the bike.
Its nice to know that they sold off all the blue/golden rims fireblades !!. Wish at least one of them was on xbhp.
I was charged a fee as outstation charges.
Make it clear with Honda Manesar. Dont trust the showroom people.

Also, have you bought the bike or not buying it as its not available in the colour that you want ?
Hope they import more blades soon. Also the new 2010 fireblade is out. Hope honda brings that in ...

                      • yup i am noida, they clarified that they cant give any free servicing alos, said its better to get it to the naraina service center and a typical service will cost Rs 5000 (2200 oil filter, 1800 for oil and rest is labour) in case he comes to my place i will be charge Rs 500 for visit.
i think it is a rip off.
did you buy it from the Nariana Honda wing world shop or directly form the factory ?

Give the alternative in the market i can either buy a black fireblade or a black hayabusa. corol doenst matter i aint buying the fireblade for its looks- it a safe superbike
The 2010 honda doesn't haven anything radical diffrent to make it worth the wait, R1 '09 might be tempting to wait for dealer says dec the magazine say 15 sep. i plan to wait till next week.
Going tomorrow to the showroom to get a feel of the bike and show it to my girl.

                        • hey
hows the blade doing? I heard niggles bout the oil burning thing in the 08 creeping up. How is that coming along? Do you measure the oil level frequently?

                          • Yeah. Seriously. Oil level needs to be kept in constant check.

Because my bike destroyed the semi-synthetic oil in just 1500kms. So better keep a tab on the oil level & quality.

Say, had any recent rides? Are roads okay now? Here repair work is going on in full swing!

When we bought the bike, no showroom was open. But we took the delivery from a showroom, Rajendra Honda at Shadra Gaziabad. It was for the formality as Naraina was not open yet.
About Fireblade being safe. I can bet my chaddi on it. The abs should be made standard on all big bikes !! Its a docile beast which never gets out of control and as bike india said, is very forgiving to the rider
So you must have seen the bikes with your partner. Finalized on anything?

@svj: 2008 fireblade was known for oil problem. Many were recalled also because of that. No roads in Kolkata are ok, except a few around red road and rajarhat. All other roads are just patch work... Maybe in another 50 years....
Went for a ride today with 600 and ninja.... Was good to stretch blade's wings a bit
