What if I tell you that you're bang right on the price? Like I said before, I'm always having planB in place & I'm (sorry WE ARE) working towards it. Will post an update here once things are confirmed.Originally posted by aalop143 View Post
You're right. But what happens when the cylinder is worn out after the last oversize? If there any alternatives pls share. TksOriginally posted by aalop143 View Post
Yes, just came to know about them; they're imported from Malaysia, not sure on the quality though. Trust me, after tasting the power of 135's mill, I don't want to go back to 100s daysOriginally posted by jd666 View Post

I don't see a risk in sleeve job unless the work is done by some newbie; No I don't use oil pump, you don't even know when the pump goes kaput & takes cylinder for its company!!!Originally posted by aalop143 View Postthere is no alternate but sleeve job is risky, once u overbore and taking care of gud oil mixture in petrol u never look back bcz i am running last 1mm bore for 2years .do not depend on oil pump.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

I do not want to argue here. I'm still using oil pump, touch wood, till date have not faced any major issue. Thanks to my regular checks.Originally posted by aargee View PostI don't see a risk in sleeve job unless the work is done by some newbie; No I don't use oil pump, you don't even know when the pump goes kaput & takes cylinder for its company!!!
Since I believed it is working for past 12 years, so I believe my bike's health is good.

Nothing there to argue Sriram; I love the idea of oil storage & using pump & no hassles to mix oil each time when you fill in the gas.
But when I rip to 110, I don'tve to fear of any failures. I can always stay confident that I've the necessary mix. Just a precautionary method to stay safe. Some people use oil pump as well as mix about 5-10 ml along with their regular gas.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

The reason why I would prefer using autolube is that, while on some ride might have to fill gas, that point of time, we will need to use what the petrol bunk as to offer (2t oil). I'm not going to go for the loose oil or the sachet which is available. I do not always trust the bunk people to sell good stuff.

Right; that's why I always have my preffered oil always in stock at home. Just a small difference though. I've it in can & mix it when I fill gas & you top up your oil tank. But definitely not a world of difference.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

+1. This is the reason why I prefer pump. Whatever be the technicalities (of which I understand very little) the convience is too good. I can put good oil in the 2T oil tank and forget for 800-1000kms. Else, filling petrol becomes one eventOriginally posted by SriramEfunds View PostThe reason why I would prefer using autolube is that, while on some ride might have to fill gas, that point of time, we will need to use what the petrol bunk as to offer (2t oil). Ganesh,
Regarding DTW quote, I just got a quote man. My "re-build" was not done by them. The workshop I entrusted the work to sub-contracted paint job to DTW. Nut & bolt stripping & assembly was done by a technician called Shivshankar, who by the way has set up his own business now.
The key is, getting all the consummables right from grease to oil seals in order. There are numerous clips, springs, etc. Thereafter, assembly doesn't take too much time. My ENTIRE bike was assembled in 6hrs (9AM-3PM).
Regarding choosing a mechanic, just ensure he gives the bike all the attention and does nothing else. If he is juggling between too many things then there is bound to be delay and more importantly deficiency in workmanship. Ensure he has got all the tools necessary.
All the best.
OT: Will you bring it to Yercaud?
EDIT: Whats with the sleeve job? I thought you are running on a brand new 4S cylinder.Last edited by NitinGirish; 05-26-2010, 09:01 PM.A lone amateur built the ark. A large group of professionals built the Titanic...

@Codezero - Thanks & appreciate your pointers. It does add value to this thread.
@Nitin - There're several other reasons on premix, we'll discuss that over during the Tristate meet & have a gala time along with Sri.
Thanks for clarifying on DTW
This guy is professional Girish, absolutely no doubt; anyway, looks like 3.5K is the standard, let me try & negotiate little. He has all the tools & runs his own workshop for several years. He's bound to juggle & I'm 200% confident because of one reason that he's running short of man power. Since my office work is getting too tight, I'm not sure if I can stay in the workshop & keep working. I was initially planning to take a week off & grease my hands, but now I doubt because of the office work. Anyway, I'm keeping my fingers crossed here.Regarding choosing a mechanic, just ensure he gives the bike all the attention and does nothing else. And yes, the above is most valuable tip that I hadn't thought much off; I'll think much on this & pay a special attention in the forth coming days. The key is, getting all the consummables right from grease to oil seals in order. There are numerous clips, springs, etc. Thereafter, assembly doesn't take too much time
I'm coming only if the rebuild is successfulWill you bring it to Yercaud
I've 2 135 cylinder & head. The one I'm running is bone stock bought about 8 months ago before which I was running on a ruined half sleeved pathetic compression cylinder (what's left to abuse the cylinder more?). Whether I need it or not, I'm just having that cylinder in a ready state; planning to learn & get it ported through the same mech. Hope you got it.Whats with the sleeve job? Give the bike to him to strip it down. Ask him to assemble only on a Saturday. That way you can be physically present. Give the bike on Thursday maybe.
I know this tip is unnecessary, but give a once over to Engine, clutch assembly sections of Workshop manual, to know all the knick-knacks required for assembly.
Re-building the old bore itself is a good idea, considering the spares scene. But there are few people who can make a good job out of it. Exercise due diligence & proceed.
And whats re-build got to do with trip? nah, this is not happening!
Anyways, wish you all the best with the re-build.A lone amateur built the ark. A large group of professionals built the Titanic...

Here's the challenge - Next 2 weekends, I'm outta town, the next weekend we probably have the preliminary meets of tristate G2G & the next weekend tristate G2G. How is it? I should be taking leave at office or the usual dialog of work from home hehehe
Otherwise how do I come? I don't like to see myself driving a car for a bikers get together - shame shame puppy shame scene. And whats re-build got to do with trip? nah, this is not happening!
ThanksAnyways, wish you all the best with the re-buildSkill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

@aargee........since your bike is becoming a RXZ.........RX100-RX135 hybrid
and you are upsizing the cc along with the crank shaft n case.........are you still using the RX100 ports and head ??? or are you resizing the ports to RX135 or RXZs size, and what about the carburettor ??? Does the RX100 reed set up needs change then ????
@all.....sorry if my knowledge is faulty(I have very little knowledge about RX bikes,my Dad sold off his RX100 when I was in class 3,ridden many of them but never got the chance of exploring them), but I feel that RX100 and RX135 had different porting, induction, transfer and exhaust.........so am a little bit curious
