My fav 2-Stroke bike listing goes as follows:-
1. Suzuki Shogun
2. Yamaha RX100
3. Suzuki Shaolin
4. Yamaha RX135
Actually, Yamaha 2-Stroke bikes are more popular and reliable and have more fan following than their Suzuki counterparts but I'm a little bit biased towards Suzuki bikes.
My Motorcycles :-
IND Suzuki AX100 ( 1984 )
TVS Suzuki Fiero ( 2000 )
TVS Suzuki MAX100R ( 2002 )
Hero Splendor Plus i3S ( 2018 )

No doubt the RX100 is a lovely machine, in terms of performance, the magical sound and is so reliable, unlike the Shogun which though beat the RX in acceleration and top speed(one of my cousin used to have both of them).
The Suzukis(read Samuari, AX100, MAX100 etc) were more sober, they returned pretty good mileage - some even touching 60kmpl.
Honda never forayed into the 2-strokes as they were busy with the CD100 and the hmmmmmm sleek(I don't even remember when I saw one last).
There was one other very beautiful machine which was just behind the RX/Shogun battle. While it didn't really beat the RX in outright acceleration, with its wider tyres and longer wheelbase, you could take an outside line in a coner and come out ahead of the RX everytime. That was the now near extinct KB100 which also returned a pretty good fuel economy for a 2-stroker and it sure did had a very beautiful exhaust note.
I still ride one.

I always loved the KB100, more so the RTZ. Back in 1989 when the RTZ [Delta-Super tuned engine] was launched, me and me bro wanted it as our first bike but somehow our family refused saying we were too young for a bike. It was priced at about 12,500/- .Originally posted by yaser_kb100 View PostThat was the now near extinct KB100 which also returned a pretty good fuel economy for a 2-stroker and it sure did had a very beautiful exhaust note.

It had the best looking silencer and a lovely note. [remember the Cheetah roaring in the TV ads]?1985 Yamaha RD350 HT
1989 Ki-Honda 110
1994 Suzuki Shogun
1997 Yamaha RX135
2008 Yamaha FZ
Suzuki Supra Powerup

Yeah the Kawasaki KB100 is now very rare, but I admire it during my school days before I even started riding motorbikes...back then Yamaha and Suzuki bikes were so common that I almost become bored of them and the rarity of the KB100 appealed to me very much...I love the sound of the KB100 also...the most important thing I love in the KB100 as a Kid is the Instrument panelOriginally posted by yaser_kb100 View PostThere was one other very beautiful machine which was just behind the RX/Shogun battle. ...yes...Yamaha and Suzuki bikes have only the Speedometer, but KB100 has Tachometer and fuel guage in addition to the Speedometer...silly it may be but as a kid it was the most important thing I used to look for in a bike...

The only two 2 bangers I have ever admired are the RX100 and the RD350. I've been clinging on to my RX since the past 8 years now that my fellowship will come through I am gonna get a poo poo RD and rebuild it from ground up probably haul parts over from US or something.

The original KB100 in late 1986 and early 1987 was priced at 15,540/-.Then the RTZ was priced at 16,440/-. The Delta came at 17K+ .I have the first batch KB100 bought in Feb 1987 still with me..it had rear foot rest welded to swing arm, and seat length was less by 3 inches. The petrol tank was not protected against corrosion...and did 90 Kmph stock with 14/42 sprocket config. It gave 48 Kms per liter in city and 53 highway.Originally posted by yamdoot View PostI always loved the KB100, more so the RTZ. I had changed the petrol tank due to rust with new one , also improved Mikuni VM19sc carburetor..and a longer seat to fit..... all, complement of Bajaj,
The foot rests were cut from the swing arm,and the RTZ type fitted.Front sprocket changed to 15 tooth. The bike had so far done about 1,30,000 Kms...and still in good condition .

Yes, for sure the Console of the KB100 was so complete. The speedo, the tacho, the fuel guage, and the nicely placed turn signal, netural and high beam lights. One look at it and almost all of the other consoles looked sort of incomplete - well hmmmmm that even applies to some of todays bikes as well. And then it was one of the first bikes with the so very convenient engine kill switch and the only one ever with the rotary valve in the sub-continent.
Once on a highway riding very sanely, I had achieved 59kmpl.

Kawasaki-Bajaj Bikes's instrument panels always have lots of gadgets...the 2-Stroke KB100 and then the 4-Stroke Kawasaki-Bajaj Caliber/Caliber Croma/Caliber 115 etc... all their instrument panels has lot of clocks...speedo, tacho, fuel guage etc...placed very nicely...the instrument panel of the older pulsar 150/180 are also the same...their genes came from the instrument panel of the now near-extinct KB100...Originally posted by yaser_kb100 View PostYes, for sure the Console of the KB100 was so complete. Maybe you were a kid like me too back then that's why you did not notice or remember correctly.Originally posted by prasath_xbhp View PostYamaha and Suzuki bikes have only the Speedometer, but KB100 has Tachometer and fuel guage in addition
Suzuki Shogun and Suzuki Shaolin all models had the tachometer.
Only Suzuki Samurai first version was not equipped with one and the Supra and AX models did not have tachometer.
Yamaha RX100,RXG and RX135 all versions did not have tachometer.
But Yamaha RXZ, both versions had the tachometer and even the RD350 had it.
