    2. Your LED bulb, was it made of 2 SMD or 3 SMD? In local shop I found an LED it was 6W/23W -dipper/upper.
    3. Where in mumbai to be exact? Would you happen to know how much would a pair of 10W LED spotlights cost in mumbai?
    1. I am not getting much time to ride so haven\\\'t done any night right on passion with HID & not on Activa with LED so can\\\'t tell exactly . But i guess HID is more hungry so better to go with led as you don\\\'t want to be out of light in middle of road at light. Believe me the LED i got is good enough in lighting the road .
    2. 3 LED . That\\\'s why i said market is full of useless led headlight you need to find correct one .
    3. check at grant road . No idea of spotlight as i am happy with my setup so haven\\\'t asked but will ask if you need when i will be there in next month . Just post a pic of what kind of spotlight you are looking for .

I\'m looking for something like this. If I don\'t get that in reasonable rate then I\'ll opt for your setup. And if you get time please post a photo of the LED brand box so that I\'ll know what\'s good while looking in the market.

        Hi All,

        Please suggest here.

I have a TVS Jupiter. I was at a mechanic\'s shop on OMR for fixing a tyre puncture yesterday and was talking to him about headlight upgrade options. He mentioned that he can make the existing 35/35W halogen bulb shine more brightly. I could only pickup bits and pieces as I don\'t speak much Tamil and it was something like this:

\"There are 6 connections from the alternator and only 2 of them are connected to the headlight. Most manufacturers do this on purpose and he can pull more power out of it by connecting more of them. No wiring change or DC conversion or bulb change required. Charges Rs. 1000.\"

Does anyone know what he really meant? Could you please explain in more detail - I am an absolute noob in these.

        Regards,
        Uday

From those 6 connections, some go to spark plug, some go to charge battery and some go to headlight. So if you start pulling power which was meant for other destinations, the destinations will suffer like you\'ll have inefficient combustion, or undercharged battery. And secondly It\'s a 50 Rs. job which you shouldn\'t do anyway unless you are converting scooter electricals to full DC with upgraded battery.

He knows you\'re noob and that\'s why charges are Rs. 1000.

Bought this. It\'s a 4 LED H4 bulb. 24W/8W 2400 lumens (that\'s like more than 3x of my current halogen).
Who is interested its comparison with standard halogen?

              Hi lockhrt999,

Thanks for clarifying. I will drop the idea.

What about the LED headlight you posted here? Where did you buy it and how much it cost? Are the LED illumination points located exactly at the original high/Low filaments\\\\\\\' positions of the halogen bulb?

I can\\\\\\\'t use this light coz the headlight is AC. I have an idea though, kindly review and let me know if this should work. As you may know, TVS Jupiter has a pass switch integrated with the high/low beam switch. See attached picture. The top is High beam and middle is Low beam. The Bottom is the Pass (high beam DC line from battery, coz it switches on even without starting the engine) and it auto-retracts to the Low beam position unless I hold it down with my thumb.

I am thinking there must be some sort of spring in there and if I manage to remove it, it should behave like the High beam switch. (right?) Now I replace the halogen with this LED bulb with the connections reversed (Low/High), and always use the (original) pass switch to turn it on and it will be on low beam, DC powered.

              How does this sound?

You can do that but your battery will be drained within a few minutes as your stator coil isn\'t charging fast enough. Even if you upgrade the stator coil or rewind you\'ll still need to upgrade RR which converts AC to DC to support additional current.

Guy, I\'ll post everything later on.
It costed Rs. 1,000. And bought it from nashik phata pune.
On high beam, all 4 LED are lit, they take 21 W power (checked on stand alone battery, maybe it\'ll be a little more on a running bike as the voltage rises)
On low beam, lower 2 LED are lit, take exactly half power of high beam. (weird thing is, low beam actually throws light on lower part of reflector which is opposite to normal.) I thought of rotating the bulb 180 degrees so that low beam led will on top but that didn\'t create any good light focus)

BTW on same system, stock 35W halogen ate 30W power only. So maybe I think the figure mentioned on the bulb are true for high beam. For low beam it should be 11-12 W.

Overall there is plenty light. Goes everywhere, even on low beam. but creates awesome focus on low beam. it truly is as bright as HID if not more.

PS, I\'m going to implement pass switch to activate flasher. I\'m in love with its flasher feature.

                        • Re: Let there be Light : Bike Lighting, HID etc

Today tried to install ^ it but hit two road blocks,

                          1. Low beam is eating too low power for BCU to detect the bulb is on. It automatically switches to high beam. I think connecting some registers in parallel will do the trick. But now I wonder how do people use relays for HID? I mean relays must be eating a lot less power, which should make BCU to switch to high beam automatically.

                          2. To use the flasher I need to provide it a 12V + source but as it seems on pulsar pass switch operates on ground voltage (ie 0). So I think I need a relay up there. Any better idea?

Also managed to slip a screw which holds the clip which holds the bulb.

                            • LED Headlights

                              Hi,

I am planning to buy the following 27W Cree LED headlights for my classic 500.
27W CREE LED worklight - Round, LED Lights Royal Enfield, LED Lights Bombay - India

A friend of mine has installed it on his thunderbird and it is pretty good.

So i understand that it is available in both, white and yellow LED. While the price is the same, the store guy told me that yellow would be better as white LED would get washed out in the headlights of other cars and street lamps. I've done quite a bit of research but i'm unable to find anything to support it. Indeed, the white LEDs that are there on Audis never seem to be washed out by such lights! My friend also doesn't report any such problems. So i'm confused as to which one to go for, the white that i've seen on my friend's bike or the yellow that is supposedly better.

Request you guys to help me out.

                              Thanks,
                              Vignesh

So i went for the white one as it needed it for night riding. Yellow is good only in fog.

It cost me 3k since i bought it from a local shop without the A2Z branding and the 1 year warranty. Boy, is it powerful!
