Some of the stuff that you may find interesting. These is the lighting setup I have on my motorcycle.

Original Hella G3 + 35 Watts digital AC ballast + 4300 kelvin D2S HID bulb.

Hella G3 pulled out from BMW cars.

How much would that Hella G3 + ballast + bulb setup cost and the CREE bulbs ? Any idea of how many lumens they output (botht he projector setup and the CREE LEDs) ?

What is the difference between H4 and HS1 bulb? Can I replace a 35/35HS1 bulb with a 55/60H4 bulb?
The sense of freedom these two wheels give can never be matched by anything else...

I bought an AES G1 projector setup for my Pulsar 180. But I am not satisfied with its intensity. It is though far better than halogen setup, but not upto my expectations.

What can I do for it?

I have an '86 model RX100. I have changed the RR unit to a 12v unit and the battery to 12v 2.5ah. The reflector is stock as of now. What can I do to increase the headlight intensity ?
My mech said I can use the magneto and coil from the 135 series. Will it suffice ?
How do the Lumax reflectors of Ambassador or dcm toyota( the mini lorry which has twin pair headlights) perform when compared to stock RX reflector ?

AES G1 has the issue of lack of hotspot in highbeam. The low beam is good enough with a good wide spread. But it fails in the Highbeam department. There is nothing much you can do about it.
However , you can install a 55 watts ballast too make the output brighter. Also a 4300 kelvin HID will make sure the light is yellowish white , hence more usable.

Your mech's idea doesn't sound very reliable to me. Although is he is experienced with it , you can go ahead.
According to me , the best thing you can do is get the Rx stator assembly rewinded into a single phase unit , use the FZ's 4 pin RR to produce pure DC & feed the battery. And atlast , re-direct all the electricals to the battery. this will give flicker free lighting , no more blown bulbs & fuses & much better headlamp.

For better illumination , you can put a CRUX headlamp assembly into place and use a 35 watts or 55 watts halogen with it. You will be more than satisfied.

H4 & HS1 are exactly similar type of bulb holder types. H4 is generally ued for 55/60 watts & HS1 is used for 35 watts. Yes , they are interchangable.

What if I put philips HID kit (with ballast) in the projector? Would that help? I am using the kit HID and ballast that comes with the projector.

Will make almost no difference, the bulb is restricted by the projector, mini h1 's are the best option for bikes. Aes also makes the minis.

That would mean investing another 4 5k for projectors. Are you sure that nothing can be done on G1?

You can try to tweak the sheilds, but you're going to be restricted by the reflector bowl, spend a little time at www.hidplanet.com, a little biased, but you'll get a better understanding..
