Re: Let there be Light : Bike Lighting, HID etc
Never compromise on price. Its far better having halogen than Chinese hid. Its because of that, that am suffering.Originally posted by backlash4u View PostGuys. I want to install some better lighting on my duke 390. My current stock headlight is damaged. The reflector has some fading. May be because I used after market bulbs. So now I am thinking about installing a projector in the stock headlight. Is the Ones we get for 2000 bucks from accessories shop good. ?
Everytime i switch on the light, there's a hell lot of burning smoke and smell coming from the hid wiring. Still need to figure out the source. If its from a joint or a socket or the ballast itself. This happened cause, previous day, the bike was outside and it had rained quite heavily.
Never go for cheap electricals. They neither provide the quality, nor the safety. All they can do is tempt you in buying cause of low costs.

Re: Let there be Light : Bike Lighting, HID etc
Is this thread 'dead'? Am I late?
Query: I have Pulsar 135 LS with Full DC and 35w/35w headlamp Halonix. I really want to upgrade it to anything better without altering battery (5AH) or wire.
Is this possible? Should I go for 55w?
Please respond.

Change to 35 watt projector setup. Since it is a pure dc setup already n u will use 35 watt projector nothing else will require change.Originally posted by aapurba View PostIs this thread 'dead'? Am I late?

Re: Let there be Light : Bike Lighting, HID etc
Hi, How am I suppose to put hid in Activa (2006)? I already put a hid kit on my Avenger, but Avenger works on DC. Activa works on AC, so am I suppose to do the same wiring as I did on Avenger or anything different?.

Pulsar ug4 headlight upgrade
Hi,
I have Pulsar UG4 which comes with DC setup. I want to upgrade the headlamp to 55W. I read on this thread that it's advisable to use a relay with a 55W bulb.
Can someone please share the circuit diagram for the same? And which relay should be used? make, model, specifications etc.
Thanks,

The relay acts as a switch which turns on when you switch on the HL switch. The relay is connected to the battery directly through a fuse . When the relay is switched on it supplies current to the HL bulb.
The connections are simple. The oe connection to the bulb goes into the relay. The connection from the relay goes into the HL bulb. Ant there is the extra connection to the battery as well.

Re: Pulsar ug4 headlight upgrade
I'm using 55/60w halonix on my p180 ug4 on stock wires for more than 6 months now. No relay used. The lighting has improved especially in high beams but not by huge margin(better than stock though). But the battery does drain considerably on stock setup. Use leds for pilot lamp and rear number plate to minimise drain. Also, be sure to keep RPM above 2.5k as much as possible. Relay is advisable but i don't know how the bike's bcu will respond.Originally posted by Nitish Singla View PostHi,

Re: Pulsar ug4 headlight upgrade
I think Osram and Philips are better choice than Halonix. You can try generic 55/60W bulbs from these manufacturers. These will cost you less than 100 bucks.Originally posted by John P Daniel View PostI'm using 55/60w halonix on my p180 ug4 on stock wires for more than 6 months now. No relay used. Also, I had read on this forum that relay will prevent the switchgear from frying, and is needed for maximum light output.
Experts, please comment.
Thanks for explaining thisOriginally posted by acs1207 View PostI dont have a wiring diagram with me now... but I will try to give yiu an idea how it works.

The 3 pins which you connect ro the bulb goes into the relay. The output
. Will ask my mechanic for a relay.

Re: Pulsar ug4 headlight upgrade
I actually got two of them for free. One is kept as spare. Currently I'm satisfied with the throw and also, I don't want to mess up with the headlight alignment. So no idea of changing bulbs till I get the tools. As for the relay, if I'm not wrong, my bike is bcu controlled and hence switchgear is not directly connected to the headlight AFAIK. Moreover, the bcu(as I heard) is a electronic controlled relay which should, theoretically, negate the necessity of a relay. Experts opinion is welcome.Originally posted by Nitish Singla View PostI think Osram and Philips are better choice than Halonix. You can try generic 55/60W bulbs from these manufacturers.
