Re: Let there be Light : Bike Lighting, HID etc
I am going to put up bulb philips crystal vision 4300k H4. Is that worth it with when compared to stock bulb of the CBR250R.
Sole purpose of this bulb is for more light spread when using the low beam. I don't and never want to blind the oncoming traffic.
A fellow xbhpian has brought 2 bulbs so I have aksed for the other one.
Need some lights on Philips crystal Vision like:
1. Long term review
2. Any issues with reflector getting heating up too much.
3. Light spread as compared to stock (i don't ride in rain, nor in fog)
4. Battery drain issues
5. Any other pros and cons, feel free to highlight.
Cheers,
Sanjay

Re: Let there be Light : Bike Lighting, HID etc
While changing the bulbs at home, I screwed up the reflector...i cleaned the silver thingy with water and it has turned yellow now
..only an inch it has become yellow.
Can anything be done to resolve that...? Or I have to live with it.
Need inputs please...?
Can the yellowish mark be removed by laptop screen cleaner liquid.
Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cheers,
Sanjay

Re: Let there be Light : Bike Lighting, HID etc
that silver thing is the coating done over the reflector and should not be wiped or cleaned. to be honest i doubt if it can be fixed. it will stay as it is.Originally posted by sanjaysangar1990 View PostWhile changing the bulbs at home, I screwed up the reflector...i cleaned the silver thingy with water and it has turned yellow now

the more yuu apply anything or rub it. it will come off and the black base under will come out. best would be to leave it as it is."A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel."

Re: Let there be Light : Bike Lighting, HID etc
Thanks!! Theironhorse99 bhai.
It is not visible so I can live with it.
I have an extra headlight assembly of pulsar220f, which I would like to fit in my CBR.
I asked the same to divya bhai and unaware of my location, he reffered me some place in bangalore.
I reside in mumbai, so need some pointers from someone in mumbai ao that I can get the projectors fixed.
Question: is it possible to fix the projector and high beam the same way they are in 220f, in the cbr250r ?
I have extended warranty as well on my bike. If I carry this mod and I know electricals will.not be covered. The question, is the engine warraty at stake..?
I seriously want to carry this mod, but want to consult all the expert junta.
Cheers,
Sanjay

if you have a good rappo with the SVC guys even if you mod it to make it look like another machine they will never create fuss over anything. thats how it works in India. if they treat you like any normal customer they will try to make money and will do drama for warranty issues.
now coming to headlight: few options i see along with budget.
1. upgraded stock honda bulb 55/60 (cost 7xx bucks ) to osram NB (night breaker plus ) 1000-1100 for pair ( 500-600 on paytm )
these will output around 100-150 lumen more than the stock bulb. more yellowish and lights up well. i changed my bulb within the first week i bought my bike.
people reported that life is less. i used the same bulb for 3 years + 33000 km till 15 days back. still works. haven't dimmed.
2. hid + projector(bi) : you can go for budget projector AES (chinese ) + 35w HID- marginally better than stock. 4k + fitting
else AES + HID + 55w DSP (digital) ballast- 30% more light over 35w ballast- should be 5k +fitting.
3.slightly better are koito projectors with similar setup + 1.5.2k extra
third option is morimoto D2S (USA Import ) the setup will be around 10-11k however real good quality.
4.last and best Hella G3 + philips HID + 55W dsp ballast (apparantely same projectors are used in BMW 5's ) best of bunch and light is lovely.
have 2 friends running same setup they lighten up road like anything. 11k just for the stuff + fitting.
with DSP ballast even with 55w you can run these with stock 6/7Ah batteries.
what i did :
i wanted to keep the look stock as i always prefer it that way and all my motorcyles are bone stock besides some tank pad/side grips etc.
i initially got 2 spot beams mounted on my fram sliders which lighten up good 600-700 metres and only use them on highway. 10W cree led.
3000 bucks for pair. does not load battery at all even though CBR have enough power. small enough not to look odd.
my obsession with LED's pushed me change infact all lights pilots/license plate/tail lamp everything to led each carefully selected for more light and less power
consumption. after good 3 years i finally got H4 Led which my friend hand carried from states i did not wanted to buy chinese H4 led's
hid+projector setup will output around 1900 lumens at max.
the Led's i got makes 2000 lumens in low beam and 3800 measured lumens at high beam (4400 raw) had led's both sides hence works like normal bulb
and was a plug and play. also low beam runs at 20w and high beam at 40w.
while touring if i need spot beam (20w 10+ 10) + high beam (40w) - i am still at 60watts which was stock bulb power comsumtion.
however previously even with Osram NB i was getting 1300-1400 lumen now i get around 6300 lumens .
hope this helps. check all the pics if you need on FB. pm me for info.
regarding pulsar like setup i would rather sugges to avoid as cbr reflector has more space horizontally while pulsar has a vertical setup.
we have done similar setup for duke due to good space available vertically."A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel."

Re: Let there be Light : Bike Lighting, HID etc
do it yourself, if installing a mini h1 ,it's quite easy,if going for oem, it'll require some cutting and glueing, but it's still easy enough, just needs patience, correct materials and a few hours and you're done.
