    Yes.

You can change the socket easily but the coil doesn't have so much juice to supply to a 60W bulb.

If it is needed so much and have money, go with a HID as Pranay stated.

Also, no point changing the bike just for lighting. Nothing other than P220 has much better light. Victor has a good light spread and a strong beam.

Instead, I got a Mico Halogen bulb at Rs 60 and it is very good. Using it for the past one year. There aren't many options for this pin type. The nightbreakers don't fit in to this. This is old pin type.

The wattage is 35/35. I donlt think the Victor can take higher wattage.

The sockets are all the same for P150 & P200. I think even the bulbs are the same - same brand, same rating. The pilot lamps are different - a bit blue-ish for the P200.
Don't know if we are talkign about the same holder/bulb type, but very recently tried MICO on my Shogun. Compared to that Osram (Made in PRC) is definitely brighter. I returned the MICO.

This Rs. 240 bulb you got from TVS was a halogen or ordinary tungsten filament bulb? Any idea if that fits on the Shogun's holder?

Yes, I even saw Osram Halogen for such a fitment a few months back for Rs 65. So it is good. Now I know which one to get for my next replacement

That Victor's bulb was tungsten filament type and is not available now a days. Yes, it goes with Shogun's holder. It was just awesome. I used to return from office every day after 10:30 PM and it worked really well. Actually, when I replaced the bulb there was no stock of that available for a few days and I used a regular bulb from TVS spares meanwhile... that normal bulb (that most other bikes used those days) were complete useless compared to the stock one.

Yes I will definitely help you out. I got them from the Philips Distributors in JC Road opposite Sony Agencies. RedApple had PM'd me about it. A 35W 6000K kit is what he is looking for. There are plenty reliable ones available in the market now. 2 hours of searching carefully on a free day around that area and you have a good HID kit with you.

+1. When the issue is lighting, putting HID is much cheaper than buying a new bike.

I have noticed that most TVS bikes have amazing reflectors. I am talking about everything from Star city, Flame to Apache, Victors. All they need now is a better luminosity. The high beams of these, even with stock, are pretty bright.

          • Too much light

Guys, I own a ZMA, 6000+kms. I have been using OSRAM Nightbreaker since I bought it and very much satisfied with it .
Recently I upgraded to a aftermarket HID (6000k, 35W). I would really appreciate the double or triple intensity lighting provided by the lamp compared to a normal halogen.

But, I have gone back to Nightbreaker for the following reasons:
            1. Light from a HID glares the oncoming traffic, I could see most of the oncoming drivers shrink their eyes and turn their head away from the bike.
            2. The distinctive white light is a definite COP magnet.
            3. The reflection of the filament from other objects and vehicles ahead of me has made my eyes feel tired very quick and I no longer seem to enjoy the ride.
            4. I have started noticing all minor inundations and irregularities of the road ahead which has made me drive slower than before.
            5. Some drivers who get irritated by the glare seem to drive towards me.

The new HID now resides safely in its box and I am gonna sell it.

            Finally, Nightbreaker rocks!

I guess you put the HID on the high beam. A definite no no. Plus ZMAs reflectors are huge. HID on a reflector, unless it is D2R type, will definitely glare the oncoming traffic. I have also recently made the switch from a Osram NB. But I think I will keep the HIDs. They are much better and I have made sure the low beam doesn't glare the oncoming traffic.

              • but Pranay, with my HID's on, in rain/mist/fog/dust, the light forms a kinda wall in front of you. you cant see a damn thing if the climate is bad.
something to watch out for in the coming monsoons...

Yes yar. Actually I know you had warned me about it when we met up on the G2G. But I did some research on that issue and what I found is that that phenomenon is particularly more for bluer light. Also, while driving, the reflector setup and the intensity at the mist/fog area is also a factor. I will definitely watch out for it during the coming monsoons. Maybe make an early morning trip to Nandi Hills..

a good set of lights is one of the important ones in the list.

of all the bulbs available, O-NB and P-XP are the most opted, suggested and respected ones. so, request all to share their experiences, pics, specs, mods, setup details etc for NB and XP.

Damn dude. I can 2 220s in that second pic. Two sidelights, two beams, .... Good first pic though.

Well, yes, visibility surely drops in fog. There is hardly anything you can do about it except make yourself more visible for oncoming traffic.

Even I want to do that to those who come on with strong lights in highbeam and in wrong direction..... but then, most of them are SUV's, lorries and busses...

Heck, I need more road presence... may be it is time to upgrade to a JCB or at least a lorry!

                              Yes, exactly Rs. 65!

So this ordinary bulb was better than the halogens in the market? Strangely, I found the old Ravi tungsten bulb to be a bit better than any halogen!! And you get that for about Rs. 16! Though it won't be like the TVS imported bulb your are talking about, I'm sure.

Any idea where the original TVS bulb was made? Any company name on the bulb?
