TBTS is one of the best cruisers in india with complete satisfaction!!

    Classic Vs Electra War hmmmm.....

Anytime Electra !!! Because in few yrs Classic would be very common on roads!! like pulsar!! Electra and STD are ever green from long yrs. But still we see less electras as compared to STB or TBTS.... Now we see TBTS or Classic or STD.

Electra has more better Dimension as per RE fans lovers!! Big tyres and Crome!! Electra's rear seat is much comfortable for pillion then CL

Your Dad is absolutely right in choice. Any time a born Bulleteer would love Electra or STD only. Classic is modern time choice.
Go with Dad's choice you won't regret! Let your dad too live his share of biking with you!!

Engine wise each bit is same as Classic or TBTS.

If you really want to go for Classic than go for it. many few people can get Classic 350 in 1-2months but after that what ??? Classic would be very soon in every one's house.... Now it's RE time!!

    Man i'm confused now :/
Every one is giving diff. suggestions

Safely go for a TBTS if you love comfortable long riding. Go for a CL350 if you want city driving and a CL500 if you prefer super throttle & performance without caring for FE.

I have a 2010 TBTS 350 done around 12000km only city driving. Have changed stock lights to Phillips Xtreme power 80% more light direct fit 900/-pair, Roots horn 200/- & Quality2 Chennai silencer after a year. 100% satisfied with the changes and quality of the bike not to speak of the satisfaction of riding a RE.

The UCE engines are great improvement over the last OVL engines and are more or less maintenance free. Of course every RE has little something imperfect like mine was neutral green not coming when key was inserted had to fumble a little, got fixed in servicing, chain was not smooth which got corrected, lack of knowledge of RE service center guys irritation etc. To sum up, RE is still not super smooth like Jap bikes but still over 99% owners of RE love their RE's and would not like to leave them to get a Jap bike. Ownership experience of my RE TBTS is simply super. This is my personal opinion and no offence to other bike lovers who love their own bikes. Would like to mention I also had a 2008 ZMA which did not need a single extra maintenance during its 3 year ownership but still TBTS is awesome !

Hey Dude what are you confused of ??

It's simple, which bike would you like to live with Electra or Classic ??
Heart and mind when gets into syn then only you can have a fair decision.

Listen to your Dad even he will be happy. You are young you can live your share later too. Electra and Classic share same heart so only looks matters here!!

If your dad is too interested in riding RE then go with Electra, if you are the only person who is going to ride than whatever your choice is!!

Some time even children can give few moments of joy to Parents!!

Guys, I had a general question in mind, thought I'd ask here since it would also benefit those who are planning to buy a new RE. Its about the difference in models in the same price range.

What are the differences in tyre sizes among RE bikes ? Let me take 350cc for example.

            Seems Thunderbird Twinspark 350 has 3.25 x 19 at front, 3.5 x 19 at rear.

Electra Twinspark 350 and Bullet STD Twinspark have 3.25 x 19 both at front and rear.

But for Classic 350 its listed as 90/90 x 19 at front and 110/90 x 18 in rear.

What does it translate to to the end user ? I think Cl350 has lesser mileage due to 18" wheels unless the gearing is different from the other bikes along with better stability, and TBTS has a fatter rear tyre than E350 and STD so has a little more grip and a little less mileage. Am I right or am I wrong ?

And is there any difference in the build of these bikes ? Read somewhere that the front forks are weak or something like that in certain models.

Finally, thunderbird is not a "true" cruiser right ? It does not have feet forward position compared to avenger. Then what is sitting posture difference from Electra and Cl350 ?

              confused

              hello all seniors,
i am new to this community but not to this world.i love bikes and love to work on them.
i have completed my graduation in mechanical engineering this year and luckily got job in automobile industry
coming to the topic as i started working and its time to fulfill my dream of owning an Enfield.i am a die heart fan of REs.i have a hh splendor(2001)
              and honda dio(2009).
i have waited for a long time of owning a RE. but by now as KTM has launched its baby duke so this made a tough time for me to choose as for classic 350 there is a long waiting period of 3-4 months in lucknow.
i like the power and on road performance of duke, and i can own that in no time but still my heart is beating for classic.
and my main purpose is mainly daily city ride and and touring occasionally.
              please suggest me
              thank you sirs..
              forgive for any mistakes

Dreams and passion are something that can't be diverted by any one or cause !!You like enfield but i don't think so that you might be a die hard fan of it. Else there wouldn't been a question on RE or Duke!! How can a age old dream got sidelined by a new tom boy Duke??Brother RE is something that you would decide. Duke is what whole world will decide!! RE is like jeep in two wheeler.

Brother both bike can do excellent touring but RE would be more great! City ride can be done by both bikes!! Duke would be more fun. Friend these both bike comes in very different requirements!!

One important question ?? Would you like a bike @ x price only because you dreamt for it from ages?? Or a modern feature full bike ?? If you get this answer then you opt for it.

Duke is new but CL350 have become a legend with it's retro looks. average are approx same for both.

RE IS NOT AT ALL FOR FLICK OR SPEED!! if you like speed and good braking/handling DOHC engine than Duke. IF you like Rough& tough nature bike, take more care of the bike then RE.
Every dream has a pay mode!! i.e hard work so RE would anytime give you a pride and different feeling! Duke is not pillion friendly

Currently the AVL 500(Machismo 500) seems to be on the minds of many enthusiasts. It is highly sought and asking prices have seen a sharp rise with quotations as high as 1.6lakhs.Even a close friend who is a member of inddie thumpers swears by the bike.

thank you sir for your concern.
what my plan was to own my dream RE for my passion and a power paced flicker for daily commuting. i was asking for which i should go first.
when i was in my college days my friends have RE bullet and that was my favorite. personally i love that robust engine with gear lever on the right
As per now a days requirement i want a commuter first.
i was asking for which i should go first my dream or a commuter.
Another question on previous posts there are two types of engines categorized AVL & CI. is the old engine with rear brake on left and gear lever on right was AVL engine..? please let me know
                    thank you sir

If you are a working person now then a peacefull ride is much better daily, isn't it?? if you are riding more than 20kms daily then go for RE only as you can feel the comfort ride with good engine, but Yes it's not a flickable machine!! and if you riding within 20kms/day then go with Duke!! Duke has everything, but not that comfortable as compare to RE. Duke is not pillion friendly too. Few people reported uncomfortability over 50kms ride, please go through the ownershipthread. I would suggest RE for daily purpose(if not much traffic), now a days RE engines are also nice delivering 40kmpl+/-. But if you are tilted towards ZigZac then please choose DUKE!!

I know that CI use to come with right side gear!! Not sure on AVL!!

yes, i also noticed that duke seating posture isn't that good for touring or long rides. but the power and flick-ability of duke is just awesome.
can you tell me is CI engines are good enough for touring, if maintained..?

All previous technology REs were good to tour, but the maintenance factor was high and very frequent! Well maintained CI engines were mostly preffered by RE lovers!! But the question in today's world would you go hassle free UCE engine or CI/AVL engine???? And thump has totally gone from UCE!!! Which mostly turns off the RE die hard fans!!But with UCE you got better mileage and reliability!!

I differ here with the thump of UCE. The thump is still there to enjoy for the rider and its lighter and you can keep enjoying listening to it all day long. How ever CI/AVL has louder and more commanding thump that is great for the onlooker, when such machine passes by RE fans love to hear it, but I am not sure if the rider can sit on it and enjoy it all day long. Also the older RE thump is bit arrogant in tight traffic, you could frighten fellow female commuters, where as UCE thump is more gentle and just announcing itself in a true gentleman way. I would have never gone for RE if not for the UCE (am in waiting period though).
Its crime to ride a car alone, so I ride bike :).

But the thump you are talking is gone for sure in UCE! Those thumps are not taken in, to the real RE fans who live with Thump and power of RE!
I am too into waiting period out of 11 months now i am into 8 months to go!!! i have booked CL350 Silver, as silver is in CL350 only, so it can be distinguised from CL 500! though i wasn't that in favour of CL over Electra!! But still, going through my family choosed model Currently using R15 daily.

Cool, I am waiting for a black 350... but read in a article that black vehicles in general will not be visible in nights and prone to more accidents than brighter colours.. so I probably would like to change my color too to silver ... but only if it doesnt change my waiting period.
