Bro i am riding Black R15 from past 2 yrs and mostly i use to ride it in night around 2:30am and i never felt that my color makes any difference in such scenario. But yes probably it might happen more to drunk drivers or riders, becuase they won't be able to make the quick difference of color and environment. Else no problem at all. But Silver is still very distinguosed one in CL 350!!

high speed stability and response
Hey guys
I have ridden the 350 bullets abd i am just in love with its easy riding, till speeds of 80-85 kmoh
My query though is about the classic 500
Is the classic 500 stable at 100 + speeds, and at these speeds how does it respond to rider inputs

First and foremost!! RE is not at all for speed , 100kmph is good but not better for any crusier!! It should be more, BUt what can be done, RE designs are still 1960's.Originally posted by LONESHARK View PostHey guys

Now your question, CL500 can easily ride up to 100+kmph but not more than 130kmph, i haven't ridden it, but in one face off with CL500 i can assume it goes to that speed too. becuase i was at 132kmph and he was sticked to me at that speed also!!!
RE @ 130kmph.
It's start vibrating at 110kmph + speed. Riding CL500 is not advised over 110kmph, It's brakes are too not that effecient to handle such weight at that those speed. but CL engine helps to gethigh speeds easily. UCE FI engine is nice with average 25-30kmpl.
i sense a speed demon from your post brother, If you think of ZigZaccing RE then you are wrong, and it's speed is a death race!!
Riding RE at 80-110kmph is what i can advice !!
For speed don't go with this beast !! RE is running on it's brand and torque only!!!

Definitely a +1 to this!!Originally posted by joeantony View PostI differ here with the thump of UCE. The thump is still there to enjoy for the rider and its lighter and you can keep enjoying listening to it all day long. How ever CI/AVL has louder and more commanding thump that is great for the onlooker, when such machine passes by RE fans love to hear it, but I am not sure if the rider can sit on it and enjoy it all day long. Also the older RE thump is bit arrogant in tight traffic, you could frighten fellow female commuters, where as UCE thump is more gentle and just announcing itself in a true gentleman way. I would have never gone for RE if not for the UCE (am in waiting period though).
I have always been a fan of RE, but became a owner of a CL500 few months ago only. When I was contemplating to buying a RE I too had my doubts on UCE engines capability of generating thumps. And my doubts were confirmed after owning it for few months, than I switched to the off road silencer, the thump improved but not what I would have liked it to be. I was jealous of CL 350, electra owners as they were producing more thumps(yes its true! UCE 350 engine is more louder than UCE 500).
Now after 9 months of ownership experience the maximum compliments I have received are for the thump! Random people come up to me and say 'Dude your bike sounds so damn fantastic!! Its not like the other RE's with those cheap loud sounds...' Well at first I didn't believed them..but come to think of it now, how many CI RE's that I have come across with perfect sound..they were either too loud or too trebelish, not had enough bass or lacked character etc..etc..and they all sounded horrible at high speeds..parking in the night is not at all possible without waking all of the neighborhood..can't go beyond 80..vibrations were too much..
And on the other I had my CL500 which will scream when you want it....just rev it and the beast would unleash..and would be quiet at lower RPM's...I have done lazy rides some days... and ripped as if my ass was on fire on others...some days people have complimented me on owning a beauty and acknowledged me as a 'BIKER' and on some days people have scolded me for not buying a car instead and announced me a maniac... some days have gone through hours of bumper to bumper traffic and on others smoked most of the bikes on traffic signals!!.. been a sane and easy rider on some days and on some days I have whirled through traffic which would put any stunt rider to shame...have covered up to 800 kms on days and sometimes not even touched her for days... My CL500 has never disappointed me in any of my moods, she has taken whatever I have thrown at it with a smile...and to my surprise it is very easy to maintain, just as it listens to me and obey my orders I have listen to her and obey hers..thats it!!
Well there are problems with the service centers, the people involved, the itsy bitsy little things but they all can be sorted out.
All in all a very happy RE fan and owner who has evolved as a biker with my beloved RE 'Eleanor'
And this is for who believed RE's cannot go fast..
This pic was clicked when I was doing close to 140 Kms. per hour :-)

Royal Dilemma
Hi Fellas
Lately I got bitten by the RE Bug and now I am seriously contemplating over owning one.Since I am new on RE territory, need to know things important before buying one.
The dilemma is which model out of the whole range.
On the earlier post of this thread I read about CI engines and new alloy engines (I was not even aware of this difference
).
Many praises for CI engine in Electra.
I want to know how in terms of performance, sound and life CI engine is better or the new ones have advantages over the history. I believe CI engine must be prone to age deterioration, is it so?
DO all electra models (Deluxe, EFI, Twin spark) have same engine?
One sales executive told me that all models now have twin spark engine?!
How does Electra deluxe compares to Classic 500?
I believe seniors and RE experts will help me in selecting mine!
Thanks

Electra Deluxe is an export model and it is not available in India for sale.
CI engines are things of the past and now the RE doesn't manufactures it any more. All the new bikes manufactured now are fitted with UCE engine.
Now RE manufactures two types of engines:
a) 350 CC Twin spark carbed (carburetor fitted) UCE (Unit construction engine) engine which is used for Electra, Bullet 350, Thunderbird and Classic 350
b) 500 CC Twin Spark, EFI (Electronic fuel injection) UCE engine which is used in Classic 500, Classic Chrome and Desert Storm.
Classic battle green, Bullet electra EFI, Electra deluxe and Bullet 500 are export models and not available in India for sale.
The new engines are fuel efficient, reliable, maintenance free and the way forward. It doesn't produces as much thump as the CI and is fitted with right side brake pedal. To the so called hardcore fans of RE doesn't aprrove of it as a real 'Bullet'.
The CI (Cast Iron) engines had better thump and was synonymous with the left footed brake pedal which was a distinguishing feature of a 'Bullet'.
In the near future these engines will be extinct, even now finding a spare part for these is a specialized affair.Tour de Thar 2014; Exploring the Thar Desert

SO only two engines are on offer 350 and 500 both twin spark.
Is there any way to compare 350 and 500?
I will take test ride to get the feel.

I still can't belive that CL500 does 140kmph??Originally posted by deejaay View PostAnd this is for who believed RE's cannot go fast..

haven;t heard it in any thread yet!! But Yes i belive that it is capable of doing it, but in lone some road only!! as can be seen in your pic. But riding a beast at such speed must be a heaven experience !!! You proved it RE does > 120kmph digits !! cool! I expect 500cc to be near to 180kmph but design is dangerous for 100kmph so what in >150kmph ??
It was nothing but the thump and low mileage!! I heard those were more durable then UCE say for decades !! And behaved same through out means performance same as ever, But UCE engines are reported to have leass mileage as years passes, heard one in TBTS thread!Originally posted by honda monk View PostThe dilemma is which model out of the whole range.

Friend deluxe is not available in India!! It's a FI engine with TS technology with UCE !!Originally posted by honda monk View PostDO all electra models (Deluxe, EFI, Twin spark) have same engine?

Yes the pattern used in delux and CL 500 are same, but with more higher specs in CL500. both engines are FI and UCE!!
If you want to select a model then go with TBTS becuase of it's more better console and ride quality in RE.
Electra is nice in handling then TBTS rest all TBTS is kool!!! CL is now very common on roads!!
If you want some thing bigger than go with CL500 the only FI engine availble in RE in India!!Last edited by Guest; 07-04-2012, 02:05 PM.

Originally posted by MHG View PostGuys, I had a general question in mind, thought I'd ask here since it would also benefit those who are planning to buy a new RE. Its about the difference in models in the same price range.
What are the differences in tyre sizes among RE bikes ? Let me take 350cc for example.
Seems Thunderbird Twinspark 350 has 3.25 x 19 at front, 3.5 x 19 at rear.
Electra Twinspark 350 and Bullet STD Twinspark have 3.25 x 19 both at front and rear.
But for Classic 350 its listed as 90/90 x 19 at front and 110/90 x 18 in rear.
What does it translate to to the end user ? I think Cl350 has lesser mileage due to 18" wheels unless the gearing is different from the other bikes along with better stability, and TBTS has a fatter rear tyre than E350 and STD so has a little more grip and a little less mileage. Am I right or am I wrong ?
And is there any difference in the build of these bikes ? Read somewhere that the front forks are weak or something like that in certain models.
Finally, thunderbird is not a "true" cruiser right ? It does not have feet forward position compared to avenger. Then what is sitting posture difference from Electra and Cl350 ? Only handlebar is different or is there something more ? Will Electra with TBTS handlebar feel identical to TBTS ?
Guys any answer to this ?

Go to RE website. You'll be surprised to note that except Bullet Std 350 TwinSpark, EVERY bike weighs the same.Originally posted by somen1984 View PostI guess this has do with the designs. TYres are always based on weight and design of the bike additionally the purpose of the bike!!!
The parts also look the same on picture, but I'm wondering if there is/are mechanical differences between different parts of the bike, like front forks quality.
And then seating position. Geometrically from what I could see in pictures, Electra and TBTS have similar seating. Only handlebars are different. Does this make a great deal of difference between them ?Currently without a vehicle. Uber App and Bangalore Metro serving all my travel needs.

Not only weight but design also plays it's rle here!Originally posted by MHG View PostGo to RE website. You'll be surprised to note that except Bullet Std 350 TwinSpark, EVERY bike weighs the same.

And Electra and TBTS seating position can't be same dude!!
TBTS has more height placed handled and lean towards rider too. It's design is also very different from the rest!!!
There would be some major reason for these difference!!
