I landed there at the SVC at 10 am sharp and was out of there at 12pm sharp. I got the air filer cleaned, spark plug checked and the battery water level checked as well. Since, i now know everyone there, my bike always gets priority and i can stick around while the work is happening. So no complaints from my end. My FZ-X is extremely happy with all the love and care i have showered on her and the ride has become even smoother and the engine is smooth as anything. Would highly recommend Motul FS oil to anyone who is keen on getting their paid service interval to 5000+ kms.Originally posted by RAK View Post

My Friends are planning for a Trip by road to Vajreshwari temple .... approx 64 km from my place ...
Btw as a New Fellow .... i am Getting mileage Figures of 38
Bt t'hell with it .... its a yamaha
So do you think i should Go with my Fz ! trip planned on feb 12th .... my First service on feb 16th .....
Keep the revs under 4000 rpm for the 1st 500 kms. moderate the speeds do gear shifts in between.. more engine braking. that will help in the break in process. Once you start up the bike in the morning make sure that you let it idle for about 45 secs so that the engine oil gets circulated to every part of your engine. This 1st 1000 kms/ run - in period is the most crucial period for your bike. Be nice to her and she'll return the favour in speed, cornering abilities and mileage will be a respectable 40+kmpl.
You may notice your tire slipping or brakes not effective right now as they all need to finish a run in of 1000 kms. post that, the brakes will have better biting power and the tires will also provide good grip.

Thanks , brother Helps a lot ! Will somehow take Bolt (fz16) for some other trip , i'll borrow my cousin's pulsar 220 its a yr old. so no sweat , he doesn't use it much as he is happy with his 4 wheeler
))
i have a doubt guys , yamaha says one's 1st svc is 1000kms or 30 days from date of purchase , whichever is First .
as my reading is not that much i suppose i'll svc according to the 30 days mark.
then the next service is 3000kms or 90 days ( something like that ,not precise )
So as everyone says , the first 1000kms is the run-in period so after my reading crosses 1000 would i have to service my Bolt ( fz16) again or wait for the next service which is 3000kms or 90 Days ( somewhat )
( See i Told you my Questions would seem stupid )

^ What is the current odometer reading? It is better to service as per the manual.

The Manual and the showroom guy both say ....either 1000kms of reading or 30 days from date of purchase whichever comes before .
and he said if i am not able to complete 1000kms ... then i should give my bike for first service on 16th feb. Date of purchase (16th jan )
In case i don't my first service gets skipped

I suggest that you keep the date in the interest of keeping your bike's warranty valid. Miss a free service & your warranty is void.Originally posted by Gowtham.I View Post298 kms

you ride below 4k rpm for first 1000km even if you get serviced early follow the runin rules for 1000kmOriginally posted by Gowtham.I View Post@shv18

there is no respite from getting the service done within the time frame given.. Else your bike's warranty is void. You should get it done before 30 days for the first service, they will change the oil filter and oil.. Make sure you continue breakin procedure till your next service and get the oil and oil filter changed at that time.. Please ask them to change oil filter on both the occasions.Originally posted by Gowtham.I View Post@shv18

My experience-
On my first service at some 700 km, they drained the oil into the big oil collector and didn't change the oil filter, when i insisted they said it was out of stock!! I had to come again after 300kms (1000km on the odo)to buy the filter from them and get an oil change between the first and the second service.. If i didn't do that the metal particles which accumulated in the oil would have been floating around for the next 2000 kms! Got another service from the svc, confirmed the bike wouldn't require warranty! and never went back to them again..
My bike has completed 6000 kms and 11 months. Happily riding on shell ultra from 4000 km mark.. Svc (pearl yamaha) in hyderabad can afford first service without oil filter change but I can't. If anything goes wrong i have the bills of the two services which didn't had oil filter change incorporated as a proof of their negligence. I get the bike serviced from my nearby mechanic - Advantages - your choice of oil(i would never ride on yamalube mineral oil in my fazer's engine even if they give it for free, would recommend shell ultra to all those who does not have access to motul 300v like me), your time, your place, detailed service. Disadvantages - Warranty void, free washing is now charged!!
Advantages appeared more to me..

Hey guys. I've got a Fazer16 with me, which belongs to a friend, and he's very much interested in performance mods and has a tight budget of 4k, so can you guys provide me with some info regarding the same, suggestions on every sort of performance mod's ranging from free flow filters to carb swapping are welcome as long as they stay within the current budget.
And I know some people might recommend on keeping the bike stock, but sadly thats not an option, cause the owner is kinda stupid too, so either with everyones help here we formulate a reasonable mod or he goes off and do something stupid that might ruin his ride for good. Hope ya get the point bro's. Thanks in advance.
Motorcycling Experience:
2000 ~ 2017 Y2K Kinetic Zoom (Disposed at 15k)
2011 ~ 2015 Hero Honda Karizma R (Sold at 56.5k)
2013 ~ 2014 Bajaj Discover 100 4G (Sold at 16.5k)
2015 ~ 2017 TVS Wego (Totaled at 18k)
2015 - Bajaj Pulsar 220F (Currently 31k) < Garage Queen!
2017 - Bajaj CT100B (Currently 21k) < 'Golden Quadrilateral' Runner!
The Ride was Good, but Life is short, spend it Wisely!
Adios Comrades!

dude frankly speaking you cannot get any good performance mods for a tight budget of 4k that will improve the performance significantly and not ruin the bike...Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostHey guys. I would suggest to wait some more time and tell your friend to save some money to the tune of 7-8k and get a joel's free flow exhaust... instead of wasting the money on useless mods like:
1. Iridium spark plug(if you want to go for it for performance increase)
2. split fire cables
3. local made exhaust
4. K&N air filter ( let me make my point clear on this point the K&N air filter does give a slight increase in performance but only after extensive tuning and rejetting work which can be very frustrating)Timon: Orange Yamaha FZ16 2009
Optimus: Red Mahindra XUV500 W8 FWD 2013
Atom: Red Tata Nano XTA 2016
Pumba: Red Harley Street 750

He's more into K&N's but the problem is that I'm not sure on which size jets to upsize with and where to source them.4. till now many people have tried the K&N air filter and upjetting as their first performance upgrade.... they do get the sound.... but till now no one has been able to pinpoint the jet size and the state of tune for the upgrade...Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostThose were my exact words to him, when I first heard his plan.
