The GIR team came to Kolkata on their return leg and boy it was awwwzzzomm!!

This was also the first time that I rode in such a Mega-Group ride and you bet, it was all but fun! Only bikes and biking and an assembly of hardcore bikers

    My FB Albums Link

I accompanied the team right from 17th evening and led them to Victoria Memorial on 18th morning. We started at 5:30 am coz in Kolkata, the sun rises pretty early and it also gets quite hot! So the ride had to be as early as possible (and feasible)
Saw the pics, great that you got a chance to accompany such a big group with a wide variety of bikes ! From our beloved Hunk to Hayabusa, FZ1 and above all an SLK !!!

The Mercedes SLK was sponsored by Mercedes guys ? or owned by some one in the group ?

      Oh, ok.
Last week similar incident happened, while I was taking right turn, a Mahindra XUV, when trying to make U-turn behind me hit my rear mudguard and it got slightly broken, but not much noticeable.

If foot rests not available in ASC, you can try outside shops which sell genuine spares?

i started my cbz, with out any chock or other trouble, it started.

it was on nutral, i let it run for a while, idle rmp was set to 1400, so duiring first start its shows only <1100

in about 30~60 seconds, it turned off, i first thhought petrol might gone to reserve.

so i put it in reserve n tried but no way it was not starting.

i tried applying chock, then also no way

then my dad came and said (Mech Engineer by education) the spark plug might be wet with petrol

so i waited for a while and started then it started but only lasted a few seconds

then i incresed the idle rpm and set to 4000k(not knowing but i rotated to the incresing side) and stareted, but failed

waited some time then tried and started successfully

I lowered it to 2000k then gradually to 1500 and went a ride of 40km(20+20)

on the ride during first 10 kms, there i felt some missing or .. i dont know what to say, it was similar to the petrol going to reserve from on

        what might be the reason?

i will leave home today evening and return back only on friday or thursday evening.
what should i do to with my byke on keeping still for 5 days?
Later i went for a short 10km ride, suddenly with a jerk the engine gone off, i tried started several time but no luck, i pushed it for 1km and reached home.
I called an enfield mechanic nearby, he came to my home,
he cleaned sparkplug, played on idle settings, finally started.
he said, petrol might be blocked. he is less talkative, took 50rs and went away.

i went to a small SVC and said the details, he is not interested in hearing the details.
he said there are 2 jets and one might be blocked, there is noting to do and just avoided me.

        any comments on this?

        • CBZ xtreme done 22,400 kms.

Hi all, I was busy for couple of months so visited here after sometime.

My bike has done 2100 kms since last general service. The engine oil changed at that time was Gulf Pride 4t plus. They claim a drain period of 10k kms.

Now I checked my engine oil level today after bike was parked since yesterday evening. It was on the lowest poiint on the tip of the dipstick. Its like there are 3 cross marks on dipstick and it was touching till one crossmark only i.e. the last one.

But the oil quality is good. My driving in this period was mostly at speed of 80-90 kmph.

Is this decrease in engine oil level ok? should I just top up oil level and keep riding?
I heard somewhere that decrease in engine oil level is a cause of worry regarding engine health...

          Please advise.

Usually ENGINE OIL IS NOT SUPPOSED TO CHANGE ITS VOLUME, if it happens the engine is having some trouble or leaking. but as of herohonda, they say to top up on even services, topup is possible only if the oil level vary.

              Thanks Abhishek.

Bt my question is that whether this much amount of decrease is fine after 2100kms. Also the oil is gulf 20W40 and not the HH 10W30 oil which vanishes faster.

Can anyone else share his experience..

              • Hi guys..
been away from here for a while..gprs pack on my phon expired..

did the last free service at 11.3K last week. The bike feels ultra butter smooth.
got the loose tappets adjusted. but mileage still at 40.
went to a local mech and got the carb cleaned and tuned. still no good.
morover, brake shoes on inspection was found to have 'hardened' and needs replacement. running with zero rear brake now.

the problem I am facing now is, the carb behaves in an unusual way. The tuning changes made to the AFR screw is not effected. even in fully closed condition, the bike runs rich. wat might be the reason..?

Checking the engine oil level after parking for long time is not right. As per manual, you should idle for 3-5 mins before checking oil level and top-up/change of oil.
Even you can check after keeping the bike for 5 mins after a ride.
Last week I also felt the same, when I checked in the morning its almost empty and when I checked after a ride its almost half mark !
(I am checking it often these days, as oil getting burned in my engine, thats another story which I've posted here recently )

Also, please don't believe service centre guys' word on drain period of 10k kms !
Even the HH's advise of 5000km drain period with top-up is also not good for the bike I believe. Better change the engine oil around 2000-2500 kms.
(Hope you are running on mineral oil)

is your sparkplug too old? how many kms on odo ?
if there is suspected block in jets, why don't you try getting the carb cleaned ?

okay, i will clean the carb, i will give it a 3rd service this friday, bad luck is that i cant ride till friday as i will be off station

if carb / jet is blocked, will the following situation occur?
#auto turn off during first start
#waited a some time closing the fuel and then started by incresing idle rpm?

#while on 5th gear over taking an auto rikshaw, a sound came from the engine like duk..duk.. and rpm raised to 10k+ and engine gone off i think i applied clutch when that sound came, that might be the reason for increased rpm.

Was your bike on Main stand ?? If yes there is a concern.IF not get it checked. Such large difference in oil level shouldn't be there.

But the oil quality is good. My driving in this period was mostly at speed of 80-90 kmph.

2500Kms on a single Oil change is Enough if u ask me that too on such speeds, better get it changed.

As he would die if someone knew more than him about bikes, all SVC guys are same.

Nothing to do ?If ur carb jets are closed, which is least expected, get it checked. There might be some blockage on your airfilter/oil. See if your bike starts after removing air filter cover.
Check for Air intake pipe in fuel tank, may be its blocked.

                          any comments on this?

Congrats on your new ride bro.U have one of the most refined engine under your ride. Let it run smooth and take it occasionally to 40-50 once in a while so it also doesn't forget its real power. Keep varying ur RPM in between your ride.
For your indicators, they might have to open your front fairing, thats why they are being so lazy as always.Keep asking him for the same.

                            • Ride Report of Hunk

Guys, here's a brief ride report of my Hunk which as of today has done ~880kms.

Reached the 800 km mark while on the roadtrip during the GIR_Kolkata Leg.

Tested top speed in a straight stretch, no incline, no crouching - 107kmph!!

Note: in the above case, I hit the speed without maxing out the accelerator!

The winds started hitting with a stronger force so couldn't check the RPM.

                              No noise, no probs whatsoever.

                              Current FE: 50-53kmpl

Overall, a very satisfied Hunk Owner!!

After my 1st servicing, the idle RPM is just ~1k. It is less, I know. Guys can you help me out with the RPM screw? Photos will be appreciated!

                              Thanks
