In 100/90 18, 100 is the width of the tyre in mm and 90 is the aspect ratio of tyre wall height. I.e 90% of 100mm nothing but 90mm is the wall height of the tyre.18 is the dia in inches.Originally posted by BloggingWheels View Post

@SatSon, the rear tyre looks sexy dude!! How about the performance? Wet/Dry Conditions?Arjun got it spot on. Wall aka sidewall is basically that part of the tyre between the rim and the section of the tyre that comes in contact with the road and bears the Tyre Codes, Manufacturer etc.Originally posted by Arjun_shetty View PostIn 100/90 18, 100 is the width of the tyre in mm and 90 is the aspect ratio of tyre wall height. The darker portion of this picture would be the sidewall:
Low Profile Tyres have a very small sidewall. Eg. FZ
High Profile Tyres: Are like ours, where the width of the tyre is very close to the size of the sidewallLast edited by ashwin.terminator; 05-06-2012, 10:04 PM.Hero Honda Hunk 2011, RC'ed, DC'ed, MC'ed! :P

Fitting rotor could be made possible I think, but fitting plates from caliper mount points to mount the calipers won't be a good idea IMO, as we can't put safety at risk.Originally posted by sooraj_vs View PostWell, I dont think so. I think FZ rotor can be fitted on ours. If I m right, all u have to do is drill some holes on the rotor (as per the mounting points on our alloy) and it should fit.
Regarding calipers, one should have to design and custom make a piece of plate (in a lathe) that extends the caliper mount points from the forks. Just look at an RTR/Zma caliper to understand what I m saying.
I was actually thinking over this same thing all this morning, and I think it is actually possible.

AFAIK ride comfort is better in high profile tyres than the low profile tyres. The side wall height is more in high profile tyres which results in better damping and absorbs the road variation better.Originally posted by BloggingWheels View PostThanks for the info guys!
Another question: Why do some bikes have a thinner tyre side wall than others? Functionality wise, which is better? Is it because of the fact that Indian bikes have a different design and that leads the manufacturers to install a taller tyre?
Whereas low profiles requires better suspension system for smother riding.diE anOthEr DaY;RidE toDaY

Thanks yaar. Yes it does look outstanding, now thinking of removing the saree guard to make it more noticingOriginally posted by BloggingWheels View PostSorry Guys!! I wrongly profiled my rear tyre. @SatSon, the rear tyre looks sexy dude!! How about the performance? Wet/Dry Conditions?
, but removing it involves touching the rear panels, but need to do some day.
Thanks to my bike's previous owner, who only had changed it just before selling the bike !
Regarding grip, I won't say its excellent, but good. I've not tried in wet conditions as rain is very less frequent in Chennai
AFAIK, thinner sided tires(like in FZ's) are better for performance oriented bikes. You can even see those in high performance cars, but low profile tires usually make more noise(atleast in cars).Originally posted by BloggingWheels View PostThanks for the info guys!

Haha, no, just edited a bit using Photoshop.Originally posted by BloggingWheels View Post^^ Is that pic from ur bike? Did you paint the wall or what?
Something I found online:Originally posted by Arjun_shetty View PostAFAIK ride comfort is better in high profile tyres than the low profile tyres. The side wall height is more in high profile tyres which results in better damping and absorbs the road variation better.
Whereas low profiles requires better suspension system for smother riding.
Disadvantages are:
- Much more road noise
- A stiffer ride, far harder than conventional tyres
- Less resistance to aquaplaning due to the amount of rubber on the road
- Price
The key advantages of low profile tyres are:
- Better handling and grip
- Far superior traction and braking power compared to ordinary tyres
- Looks

Surfing through the forum threads, I found this:
Tyres-ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW
We have been given a stock tyre i.e. Zapper Y. Does Y represent the speed rating here?
As per the article above, Y represents a speed rating of 300kmph!!!!
I don't that is the story with 'Y'! :P Discussions open!

No way...in zapper y,y doesn't symbolize any speed rating afaik. Its code given by MRF based on its tyre pattern.like zapper Y,C,Q,FS,VYDE,REVZ etc etc....Originally posted by BloggingWheels View PostSurfing through the forum threads, I found this:

If you consider MRF ZAPPER Y 100/90 18 52P TL
Here 52 stands for load index and "P" is the speed rating which is 150 kmph max. In zapper y, Y got nothing to do with speed rating.Last edited by Arjun_shetty; 05-07-2012, 02:08 PM.diE anOthEr DaY;RidE toDaY

To give you a fair idea, the mileage of a CBZ Classic varies from as low as 30kmpl to as high as 54kmpl. It depends on a lot on the condition of the bike and the rider habits.Originally posted by PaYne View PostHi,
all I am going to buy a new bike and CBZ is also a contender, please can you all give an idea about te average mileage that it provides, I have got lots of different averages from different people some say not more than 35-40 and some say 50-55 please suggest??
Thankx
Beyond the real world biking necessities, you have to be clear why you want to buy a CBZ Classic? I can bet that any loyal owner of this kick-ass beast has never put mileage on his check list. They have always lived with its not-so-good mileage. It is also true that if you maintain this bike with utmost care regularly, it will throw a decent mileage of 40+ at all times and in most riding conditions.Once a biker, alwayz a biker !!

Picked up two spark plugs today:
1) The Normal NGK Spark Plug
2) The NGK Iridium Spark Plug
I've installed the normal Plug in the bike now and plan to store the iridium plug in the bikes storage and switch the normal plug for the Iridium whenever I plan on doing a highway ride. That way, I'll get the mileage of the normal plug in the city and higher mileage as reported on the internet using the Iridium on Highways. Also replaced the Air Filter today. Oil change due tomorrow.Hero Honda Hunk 2011, RC'ed, DC'ed, MC'ed! :P
