    Damn you HeroHonda..!!
Haha, now Hero Honda is making sure you go to them to get your work done.

The chain cover yes, I have noticed that removing it without removing the rear tyre is a pain in the rear. You leave scratches on the alloy when you try and remove it without removing the rear tyre. Don't know about the Saree Guard though.

    • Xenon Bulb for Hunk

Hi Guys, I've read somewhere in this thread that you can opt to replace the existing Halogen 35/35 H4 of Hunk to same Xenon 35/35 H4 for better lightning. Do any one of you guys know where i can get them and if its available in all spare centers ?

Sharing your location will help in getting more accurate answers. And to answer your question, yes you can replace them as long as they are of the p43-t base type and preferably of the same watts. Sincerely though, avoid bulbs with a blue coating because some part of the light is blocked out to give you the illusion of brighter whiter light. I'm looking for Philips premium here in bangalore. Will be searching in the authorised retail outlets tomorrow

No buddy. Its not that simple. Xenon bulbs work on DC, whereas our stock wiring sends AC to the headlight. You will need a full DC conversion and an armature re-winding to install an HID.
Go to the 'Let there be light' thread. You will find all the info you need.

I live in small town Rourkela, Orissa. Yes, I've seen the thread and I concur that full DC conversion drains the battery much quicker and reduces the battery life. If I'm right, I'll have to satisfy with the stock bulb even if it isn't strong enough like Pulsar

All of us have to. Unless we are willing to go through all the pains and damages of DC conversion, rewinding and paying for a good HID. DC conversion without coil rewinding is more pain than gain, as it will quickly drain out the battery.

              • ^^ 'Ragging' the new guy on the block?? heheh....just joking! No, seriously, we all would like to have an intro!
Regarding halogens and lights, I know of a biker here in kolkata. He installed xenon tourer lights (like halogen fog lights) on his ZMA without removing the stock headlight. What he did was that he mounted the 2 halogens on his leg guard (yes you read that right)! Got a different battery and an independent circuit and switches under the tank. The final result: A beam so strong that would put car lights to shame! The brightness and the throw up ahead is fantastic. It seems you can look miles ahead in pitch black darkness. And not unexpectedly, he completed a solo trip to north bengal and Bhutan post that mod!

Hey all, Yep, I'm new on Forum and a regular forum visitor from Feb 2012. I'll introduce myself clearly and concisely. Thanks for your suggestions.

Btw, I've just completed 80 Kms on my new Hunk bike and I assume Hunk and CBZ share the same engine as well. Some CBZ xtreme reviews at other website ( bike advice.in )
claimed that Hunk has more pronounced vibrations than CBZ xtreme at 6K RPM and it slowly rises to 9K RPM compared to CBZ xtreme where it can do that at ease. Even if they share the same engine, hows that possible ? I've yet to complete run-in period and don't want to push the bike to feel the vibrations at 9k. Does CBZ xtreme has better gear ratios and more refined and tuned than Hunk ? Please shed some light as I'm in dilemma whether i made right decision or not. After completion of 3k kilometers, i want the engine vibe free and refined when cruising at 70-90 Kmph. Awaiting your replies.

The lower chain cover can be easliy removed, IIRC the upper half too can be removed with out removing the tire.

Saree guard removal is not straight forward in Hunk as in other bikes !
As Sooraj pointed out, we need to remove tail piece to accomplish. I didn't have enough tools last time for this, so left it. Need to try soon !

I think ashislakra is saying about some straight forward bulb change, mentioned by a fellow member some time back. I remember OP saying that he changed the stock bulb from halogen to "something" and he was happy with results. But I forgot exactly what it was.
Also remember someone tried with Pulsar 200/180 halogen on Hunk, which was also better than Hunk stock one.

Yesterday I removed the bottom piece, but couldn't take out the top one. If it is possible, there must be some trickery involved. Do let us know.

Not really. But yes, HID on a bike with AC Lighting is asking for trouble. As far as Xenons go, not an issue. Its a plug and play. I had the option of Philips Xenon(4000K Color Rating) for 250/- today, but chose the normal 30% more light regular halogen on advice of the shopkeeper itself. The normal one cost me 100/- Need to check out the effectiveness tonight. Will report back here once I'm done.

Complete your run in properly but don't forget to occasionally take the bike to around 70kmph by steady acceleration. Always avoid sudden acceleration and sudden deceleration during run-in. And try engine braking as much as you can. If you do your run in well, you will have a mostly vibe free bike at 80-ish speeds. But 105+ will give you a free massage. Massive vibes run through the bike, but chances of most of us crossing such speeds is very low by itself. So not to worry. Just informing you in advance so that you aren't alarmed later. As far as the comparison with the CBZ goes, forget it. Everything is the same except the looks. The gear ratios are also the same I am sure. Also half the people on the internet haven't ridden the bike they criticize so much. Enjoy your ride as long as you can and cherish every km you spend on it.

The lower chain cover comes off without any issues. But the upper needs the sleight of hand to be able to remove it properly. It is still cumbersome but can be done by a bit of pushing and pulling. But you do risk scratching your alloys in the process.

BTW, the Dazzler chain guard has not arrived yet. Is due to arrive next week, but the plus point is cost, just Rs. 48/-. So not an expensive mod to try. If it doesn't work, not much loss.

What was the wattage of the Xenon..? Are you sure they work on AC..? AFAIK, xenons work on DC

Atlast removed the top half too. Looks much better now. Didn't have the tools to remove the wheel, so unscrewed the shock from its upper mounting and tilted it forward. Removed the airfilter side panel to facilitate this.
