I doubt if your visor and indicators are covered in insurance m since its plastic . You may not get any insurance cover for it and may have to shell out from your pocket.Originally posted by mastiworld View PostGuys, met with an accident three days back but thankfully It wasn't serious. The bike had some serious scratches on its visors and indicator lights. Since, there was a fall no matter the intensity, I am a bit worried about some internal components being messed up which I want to get thoroughly checked. Any help in this regard on what all should I get checked.
Are these things covered in the Insurance or they require a FIR for an accident to claim for an insurance?
Also, I've asked numerous times at SVCs about stickers but noone stocks them. Why is that? Doesn't Hero provide stickers for bikes?
SVC is not bothered about stickers since its not a fast moving consumer good.
The whole visor comes with the sticker and hence no one is bothered about stocking it up.
This is a chance for you to get creative , go to a nearby sticker shop and get those stickers done your self. You can probably bargain and get it for a cheaper rate.
Was there another vehicle / person involved in the accident ? Or did you just fall of the vehicle by losing balance ?
Ride carefully.

Yeah you were right on the spot ....i didnt see how they changed the guide in lathe...usually i stay with my bike whenever they touch it but this time due to the fight in showroom i had to leave it....there was some scratches in the brake oil reservoir and the new bore...after they opened the engine mileage seemed to have dropped getting 42.5km/lt inside town instead of 47km/lt that i used to get.Originally posted by sibun View PostSee, i told you that was the secondary air injection making sound, my experience of always experimenting with bikes and my specialization in automobile engineering has taught me a lot on bikes.Regarding your query on valve guides, i have the news that some batches had excess clearance in valve guides and thus caused mobile to reach valves and cause valve leakage and carbon. Good that the guides were changed. Actually changing the guides is not difficult but the machinery required and skill is the difficult part. The guides are fit and opened by hydraulic presses and the skill of the guy is important as a slight mistake will damage the complete head. Now there will be no problems of compression leakage. Did you ask them to clean the carburettor.
Also yesterday i started the bike after 2 days and the kicked felt like it has lost 90% of compression but it started in a couple of kicks ...i was shocked how this could happen but after riding it for 3 kms the compression was back to normal and the kicker was now offering some resistance....today i checked again the kicker was ok not free falling like before...really confused to why it happened like that again
.
If i see a old model Xtreme now i kick it just to see how the compression is on other bikes...on one Xtreme done only 16K the kicker was twice as hard to kick ...on another bike done 53K the kicker has very little compression it felt like it had no compression at all...other with like 30- 35K on the odo the kicker feels like the compression is like mine not too hard or less ...i wonder why this is .
About the carb i will PM you
.
Yeah they may use it in some crime ...lot of headache if that happens .Originally posted by sibun View PostRegarding splendor i think it is better to not find it and instead police must give no found report as a result we can claim insurance.
The funny thing is that yesterday we bought a HERO SPLENDOR PRO with alloy wheel and self start and even more funny is that we have not paid a single penny to the showroom. What happened is that my father was taking my joy as a result it was difficult to market for home. In extreme you know nothing is possible. Also i love my joy so much that if i do not ride it for a single day i feel awkward.
My dad was not ready to buy and wait. But i told if we get insurance we will get money and if we get the bike we will sell it after doing the needful repair.
So yesterday i returned from office at 3 PM and forcibly took my father from bank to showroom and bought a splendor pro with self and alloy. Since the showroom guys know me including their owner, i told them that i will pay after some days. So we took the bike without paying a single penny.I will pay them next month.
My father was not ready to buy a bike with self and alloy instead told me to take splendor+ with spoke wheels. But i insisted that if we buy a bike it must be self and alloy.
Congrats on your new bike and use a fork lock from now ...i think this device is effective if you leave the bike in a crowded place ...i use it every time in my bike now.I know someone too who took a ZMA like that but he is a loan shark...the funny part is the guy running the authorized SC is also a loan sharkOriginally posted by sibun View PostNow this is the first time in XBHP that a bike is bought without paying a single penny and without taking any finance. Its like buying grocery from your known shop and paying at the end of month.
The cost of bike is Rs.55000 and we paid Rs.0.
You must read my joy's experience on sunday in splendor thread.

why are you driving that slow ? Keep the bike below 5000RPM that is more important...you can safely take the bike upto 50-55Km/hr but no sudden acceleration...warm the bike for a min. every morning.Dont worry about anything till you complete the the run in ...if you take it to SC now they will mess around with the carb .Originally posted by rahul.zamre View PostCompleted 110 kms on odo.
mileage yield 25 kmpl only
drove below 40, most of the time below 35. Isis normal for new bike?

Dont worry about the mileage,it will improve to 40-45 lateron.we all had such low mileage in beginning. Dont be limited under 40.take it to 45-50 once in a while.thers no harm in it.dnt cross 5-6K RPM mark.Originally posted by rahul.zamre View PostCompleted 110 kms on odo.

This seems to be a problem with most of the new HMC bike. Same case with me and many others out here. It gets loose and makes Kad-Kad sound at corners. My adjustment bolt is at farthest point. Its time to either replace the whole chain-set(700-800Rs) or to get few links removed.Originally posted by Imran Syed View PostMy HUNK chain is getting loosen very frequently once in 3 days. What is the problem? Pls some body reply

I dont think they gonna change it. they will most probably adjust it but in the end u have to change it or make it short by removing some links. Stilll give it a try.Originally posted by Imran Syed View PostMay be ,my bike is HH HUNK & its 2months old.I ll ask them to replace chain set its under warranty. When i bought my extreme it returned only 35. It is normal for almost all hero bikes.Originally posted by rahul.zamre View PostCompleted 110 kms on odo.

Why are you riding very slow. These bikes will not give mileage and engine will lug if driven very slow.
Always ride within 4.5k rpm in running-in. This gives you around 60 kph in 5th gear. The slower you ride the more strain the engine takes. Do not let the svc people touch the carb at first service. Also lower the idle to 1200 when WARM.
And regarding mileage i get about 50-55 kpl in city sometimes going up to 58 kpl and on highways up to 63-64 kpl.
I get good mileage because i accelerate gradually. On NH i ride at 75-85 kph and i accelerate gradually.
I shift to 5th at 42 kph and then i accelerate slowly and you can see each digit like 42,43,44,45,-------- until i reach cruising speed. Rapid acceleration and deceleration is the cause of low fuel efficiency.
If you ride pillion with me you will see that i will not be moving the throttle but the bike will be gaining speed. Its because i have learn to master the throttle after so many years of riding that, i now can increase even 1 kph with throttle and held it constant.
Apart from regular service change air filter if not changed, change spark plug and clean and lubricate chain.Originally posted by raj11 View PostHi xBhpians,
Mine is an xtreme, which clocked around 10k in Odo.
Apart from regular service Is there anything to be checked or taken care about at this period ?
Please provide your valuable suggestions.
Thanks in advance.
Check whether your chain is hero. If so it will give the problem. Tell them to change under warranty and if possible complain to HERO directly.Originally posted by Imran Syed View PostMy HUNK chain is getting loosen very frequently once in 3 days. What is the problem? Pls some body reply
Do not worry,it will subside as you pile on KMS.Originally posted by RohIIT View Post320km on odo and man i am in love with this bike..the accl..handling and most important i got a mileage of

Initially my bike was feeling the same but it has smoothen out a lot.
Hero honda engines are known for their tight tolerances and take as long as 10k to completely free up.My extreme at 6.5k is quite free to rev but still it will get more free and today i will go for 5th service.Photo of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/854067-post963.html-3.88 lac km cont....Ownership review of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/832255-post608.html- slowly updating as and when getting time. It was useful. As my exams are going on, I ride in city only. college to my place. So the less speed. I will take her to highway in diwali
One more query. Engine braking is good or bad? I daily ride to my college which is situated on hill, and while coming back I use gears and brakes to control my bikes speed instead of engaging clutch and allowing it take speed freely. Is it good or bad?Last edited by rahul.zamre; 11-09-2012, 12:58 PM.
