Brother, 1) please check the tightness of your spark plug by loosening and tightening 2) check your air filter for correct fitting and report back.Originally posted by sarbanoxley View PostThe head mech is saying the "chik chik chik" noise which only comes when i raise the throttle is coming from the piston...he said it will go after sometime and if it doest go away he told me to bring it back...when i repeatedly asked what it was he said piston slap...i said if the pistons are moving sideways wont it damage the bore? he only gave me a blank stare and said your bore wont have any problem...he revved to see if any visible smoke comes from the exhaust...i think he knows whats wrong but he is not very forthcoming...just told me that he wont be opening the whole engine again to fix it and said it will go away by itself mostly....the thing is till he opened the head to fic the oil leak it was all fine...i am really upset first the oil leak now this problem
.
Update : the "chik chik" noise seems to come from only the left side not the kicker side of the engine....one local mech is saying
its only "AIR" leaking from silencer and to tighten the 12inch bolt...i told him to show where the "air" is leaking ...he just told me just tighten the silencer a bit it will go away....another mech says the "chik chik" noise is coming from inside the left side crankcase cover...the one the head mech at SC opened recently to clean the metal shavings that fell through the timing chain hole...i didnt even tell the local mech it was opened recently...after they opened this side of the crankcase i completed nearly 200kms with no "chick chik" noise then how come it suddenly started after the head mech opened just the top cover yesterday ?
I googled "piston slap" and all the sources said it will go away after the engine heats up as the pistons expand...so took the bike on the highway and cruised for 25 kms @70-80Km/hr after which the engine was blazing hot but the "chik chik" noise is still present when i twist the throttle
.
UPDATE 2 : Bike lost compression today ...the kicker went freely down when i tried to start it ...after kicking it like this 4 or 5 times it started suddenly...new bore has done just 5100kms even the valves are new ..sibunji you here ?"work for cause n not for applause". Tightened the spark plug like you said ....removed and refitted air filter too still the "chik chik chik" noise is present when i twist the throttle.Originally posted by ekm-biker View PostBrother, 1) please check the tightness of your spark plug by loosening and tightening 2) check your air filter for correct fitting and report back.
Took it straight to SC told GM about all the problems i am facing:
1) Bore oil leak from day one they installed the new bore kit(solved).
2) Head oil leak as no spares are available ...i had to go all the way to chennai to get it(solved).
3) Piston making noise at 5000kms
4) Compression loss
Just to get the bore leak stop they opened most of the engine...to add fuel to fire the lathe guy spilled some metal shavings in to the right side crankcase.I spent Rs1150 to fix this bore leak alone...now the piston is making noise....also i suffered compression loss yesterday.Hearing all this GM talked to the head mech....i dont know what he said to the mech but it seemed to have pissed him off...he made me wait for 6 hrs ...not even went near my bike all this time...but before he went to lunch he told me he will start the work shortly....at about 3 in the afternoon he says he has to parcel something so cant work on my bike today...after this my dad talked to the head mech and he says he has called some engineer at hero and he is waiting for his call....thats why the delay...which was BS he was attending at least ten bikes that came to the showroom much later...one problem or the other keeps on coming from day one....one stupid staff told me its natural for the engine thread to go kaput when installing new bore on old bikes
...another stupid staff told me i shouldnt have waited for 6 hrs after giving the bike...i got so fed up by the staff at ANAND motors today i decided to to get the GS150 tomorrow if its readily available in chennai...only after my dad intervened the showroom MD called the GM who rushed back to the showroom and assured me he will look after my bike...he also said even if the bore needs replacement he will do it in warranty....keeping my fingers crossed for now

Can you record a video clip of your engine at idle,2k,5k,7k... RPM and post it here ? It will help the members here to diagnose the problem.Originally posted by sarbanoxley View PostThe head mech is saying the "chik chik chik" noise which only comes when i raise the throttle is coming from the piston............................................ ......

From what you say 3&4 ,was the piston rings changed when the bore was changed??Originally posted by sarbanoxley View PostThats ok mate .

Now places thro' which compression can leak or make chik .. chik
1) piston rings worn out ( oil pump faulty??, More heat was felt when you were riding those 5k kms.??)
2) valves loose
3) silencers entry point on the engine.
4) a small pipe which mixes air with flew gases connected thro' the top of head cover may be loose and /or a type of reed valve which let in the air thro' the pipe is faulty.
last though not expected cracks in cyl.head.
double check (1) ,bit costly ,(as you told some scrap fell inside)
once corrected tell us all about it .
Congrats . Have a nice time with your new bike. Read the owners manual and try to learn more about the bike, this forum has enough material.Originally posted by RohIIT View PostHello my xbhpians...On 24/10/2012. .. Dusshera Eve i got my best present till date...my CBZ Xtreme...

You should have written to HERO directly.Regarding that mechanic showing attitude, if it would have been here it would have been the last day of his in that service center. And those CHIK CHIK sound is either from the silencer mouth or from the secondary air injection(the steel pipe fitted on the head). If the silencer packing at the bore is compressed then this sound will come. It is an asbestos packing and after repeated opening and fitting it gets compressed and thus will leak and cause sound.Another area is secondary injection pipe located on the head which has a packing. If that packing is not replaced each time it is opened then it will leak and cause sound.Since you mentioned the noise is after opening head cover then it is the secondary air injection. And piston slap will never occur in new bore.Regarding selling and buying it is no use taking a decision in a hasty mind. You will loose money. Since you have done the work under the HERO motors and you have bill it is there responsibility to do all things that is related to bore and head. If some problem is coming after work is done then it is their fault and they must rectify. And thread stripping as mentioned by mechanic then just give the example of my joy and tell them that my joy after running 3.18 lac km and after 2 engine overhauls still running like new bikes and heck can even make new 100 and 125 bikes eat dust and all bolts and nuts are OE that came from factory and single bolts has not been changed.Actually you know i am feeling helpless that i cannot help you and if it would have been here or if i would have been there then i would have personally opened your complete engine and re-built it at same cost as your service center took for just bore job and screwing the bolt. If possible some day ride to here and you will get rid of all your problems and will also do a mega road trip and also i will make you see orissa in detail.May be when you require a complete engine overhaul just ride here.Originally posted by sarbanoxley View PostThats ok mate .Tightened the spark plug like you said ....removed and refitted air filter too still the "chik chik chik" noise is present when i twist the throttle.Took it straight to SC told GM about all the problems i am facing:1) Bore oil leak from day one they installed the new bore kit(solved).2) Head oil leak as no spares are available ...i had to go all the way to chennai to get it(solved).3) Piston making noise at 5000kms4) Compression lossJust to get the bore leak stop they opened most of the engine...to add fuel to fire the lathe guy spilled some metal shavings in to the right side crankcase.I spent Rs1150 to fix this bore leak alone...now the piston is making noise....also i suffered compression loss yesterday.Hearing all this GM talked to the head mech....i dont know what he said to the mech but it seemed to have pissed him off...he made me wait for 6 hrs ...not even went near my bike all this time...but before he went to lunch he told me he will start the work shortly....at about 3 in the afternoon he says he has to parcel something so cant work on my bike today...after this my dad talked to the head mech and he says he has called some engineer at hero and he is waiting for his call....thats why the delay...which was BS he was attending at least ten bikes that came to the showroom much later...one problem or the other keeps on coming from day one....one stupid staff told me its natural for the engine thread to go kaput when installing new bore on old bikes

Actually i never post from office because i have no office.I am an engineer and have site works and thus visit many different sites. I travel about 160 kms daily on bikes. I always post from home. Actually i was busy in personal matters and thus didn't get time.Originally posted by ashwin.terminator View PostSibun must be on leave considering the holiday season. I have been driving bike for quite a while...
Gears are quite hard to engage...and it overall bike feels like it is strangled or power is not getting delievered...
Is this common for new bikes...
I learnt that i need to change engine oil at 150-200 km i.e 10W30 but which brand to prefer OEM or gulf elf etc..
Plz help..

New bike particularly hero bikes will feel strangulated as they have tight tolerance and will take as long as 5k to free up.No need of changing oil and do the first service soon at 500 km.If possible see the service and see that they change oil from hero honda bottle and not from barrel.Gears will smoothen out after some time.Originally posted by RohIIT View PostI have been driving bike for quite a while...Gears are quite hard to engage...and it overall bike feels like it is strangled or power is not getting delievered...Is this common for new bikes...I learnt that i need to change engine oil at 150-200 km i.e 10W30 but which brand to prefer OEM or gulf elf etc..Plz help..Photo of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/854067-post963.html-3.88 lac km cont....Ownership review of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/832255-post608.html- slowly updating as and when getting time. While i was driving down on highway ..i felt some wobble on the handle bars...(rhythmically)
Why is this problem arising ... road was silk smooth and tyre pressure was okay..no accident so far..
and while driving away from stop.. in first gear it kinda behaves bit jerky and unwilling to move.. no problems in above gears or b/w 30-45km/hr..
Plz help me this small issue..

Chain/Sprockets of Xtreme/Hunks should last around 30-35k.Originally posted by abhisheklalnediya View Postits 7.5k on odo, and about to get 5th service

A properly serviced chain of a sane rider should last beyond that.
My Hunk is running on stock ones, and its 25k on odo.
