Dear CBZ owners,

I am using Cbz Xtreme and ran 13600 kms when I gave my bike for service the service guy told to change
the chain and rear disc pad and usually I ride between 50-60km speed and I also want to know the cost
of chain and rear disc pad, waiting for replies.

still I have not got answers.

Your mileage has not decreased but your meter is showing wrong reading. Get your meter checked and all your complaint will vanish. Wheel pinion is the black circular thing attached near the left side of wheel, which is connected to speedo with wire. Check that and also yours is analogue one then check the meter wire as worn out wire will cause the wire to slip from its holder nd thus wrong reading. Now a days all bikes from all companies come with plastic meter pinions in the wheel. As soon as the lubricant provided dries up the teeth in the pinion grinds up and thus meter error will crop up. In old bikes like my Joy the worm gear in pinion is steel and the round pinion is plastic, So the worm gear never wears out and the plastic pinion is available separetly for Rs.10 OE, i change it in two years, i had changed the meter cable and pinion as a set 5 years ago in my joy, and still it is going strong. In my CBZ it is digital so contactless so no wear and tear, but when it needs a change it will cost a lot as it shares the same with ZMR.Regarding your tuning then it is like company method of tuning, company sets the tuning a particular number of turns in each bike, for some bikes it is perfect and some bikes not. In your case 3-3.5 turn is perfect but in some bikes it is not, but for perfect tuning look at my signature and you will get the answers.13.6k is not a huge km to change a sprocket, but it may have worn out, also never change only the chain but as a kit. Usually these service centers mechanics are responsible for damaging the chain kit as they tighten it like cycle chain. My chain is also having a lot up down motion but the sprocket is not worn so i am running it with slight loose setting and everything is alright. For your chain kit visually check if the chain is having lots of up down movement, if the teeths are worn, then change it. Do not go with the SVC mechanic words as they are interested in only selling spares.For your disc pads check the grooves on the pads, if they are worn out that means pad is due for replacement, and if they are alright and grooves are still left then pad doesn't requires change. Rear pad is NISSIN and will cost you approx Rs.1050.

Better not to do.What that svc guy said is true,Because i had experienced the same,Dont do Teflon Coating,just get 3m liquid wax and polish it.

Hi Guys,
For lubricating the chain of xtreme, can I drip SAE-90 gear oil through the chain hole without opening the chain cover. If I repeat this process after every 500 kms, then will it be effective
Kindly suggest, as complete chain cleaning requires lots of time & effort .

Well imho lubing chain at 500km is gud , but more oil you put in chain more it will attract dust and cause sticking to it . So clean chain at 1000km , try removing lower chain cover, front sprocket cover and clean using diesel or kerosene , fast but not the best method . Nothing like that happens. Excess oil will either drip or is sprayed on the covers at high speeds(due to centrifugal force).

Lubricating the chain every 500kms or every weekend is a good practice. I use a mixture of diesel engine oil & SAE 90 gear oil and my chain shines like new.
Even after two weeks,one can see the chain to be lubricated and oil clung to it.

Thanks a lot shoeb your posts are really knowledgeable. One query i got here is i have done 4300km , normally i keep chain bit more loose than required but that doesnt hit guard , is that a problem ? I noticed that FE and top speed is bit lower . how much more to run as i want to use this Super Swift oil ,its semi synth .

what might be the problem? disk alignment problem? air in tube or some thing serious like disk bend??

Can you please elaborate the grade of diesel engine oil used, and the ratio in which engine oil and gear oil are mixed

any ratio will do as long as you are using fresh oil and lubricating it every 500km or weekly - shoeb sir can we know your secret formula

This is not any special formula,any ratio will do. Out of curiosity and need ,I had mixed SAE 90 oil and diesel engine oil along with some grease.(Because I had insufficient SAE 90 oil to lube the chain).

Diesel engine oil apparently keeps the chain clean and shining like new,excess oil and grease which is sprayed on the inside of the chain cover traps any dirt which happens to enter the covers. If I am correct Pinaki ji mentioned about coating the inside of the covers with lightly with black grease which serves dual purpose-1. Traps the dirt 2. Prevents rusting of covers.(Ref. splendor thread)
Make sure to clean/unclog the drain holes on the bottom cover every time the bike is washed.

Whatever lubricating oil you use ,lube the chain regularly and clean it once in a while. A well lubricated chain will clean itself when the excess oil drips.

Thanks Shoeb for your valuable suggestion. One more query about carb cleaning, Is Motul carb cleaner spray really effective?
It's sprayed from air intake side, by disconnecting air filter. I dont want those incompitent mechs to fiddle with my bike's carb and TPS settings.
So, I thought to give carb cleaner a try. Whats your say :what:

Spraying the carb cleaner from intake side is done on cars and not on bikes.
If your carburetor needs cleaning then you will have to remove the jets & passages and clean it by spraying pressurized carburetor cleaner.

I have used only Cyclo and 3M carb cleaner. Get the cyclo carb cleaner,most of us are satisfied with it.

How many kms on the odo ? Any particular reason for cleaning the carburetor ? Try using Iftex System 23 Or system G regularly.
I haven't used it yet on any of my bikes but I had very good results with the System D on my Indigo, sibun also recommends using System 23.(Refer previous posts for more details on this)

My xtreme has done 24k till now. I'm experiencing hesitation while accelerating. So, I thought to get the carb cleaned, but can't take risk with either Authorized SVC or local mechs.
That's why I keep asking on this forum from all you experts, and try to do the same by myself...
