re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
I had varying idle issue when AFR setting was lean, also my spark plug was too old that time.Originally posted by ashwin.terminator View PostI've a small problem. Bike has completed 20k KM btw.
In the morning, when I start the bike, the bike idles at 1k and after riding around a bit, it goes upto 1.4k RPM. Whack the throttle open a bit and it goes above 1.5k RPM. Is this normal behaviour? Also, when I let the bike idle for a while and then very, very lightly give throttle, the bike shuts off. I'm sure this isn't supposed to happen. Average the bike returns is around 35kmpl.
And for starting, the bike seems to need very light throttle input sometimes. Could someone please tell me why this is happening?
After a 40km ride, when I tried to push start the vehicle, the trip meter reset. Not to 0. Trip meter was showing 112km, I rode for around 20 km and then see the trip meter again at 100. O.o Then I tried starting the vehicle and it went back to 97.2km. Now what I also noticed is, when I try to push start, very rarely, the bike acts like the ignition has been switched on. The Tacho needle does a full circle along with the fuel gauge and the Speedo shows 188 and drops down to 0.
Just to remind you guys, I've changed over to DC lighting. Coil rewinding+RR Unit change was done. The headlamps and all the electricals work just fine otherwise though.
Brakes, the front brake lever can almost be pulled right upto the handle bar and the rear disk brakes have lost bite ever since the ASC changed the rear pads. The rear used to lock very quickly before, but is barely effective now. Also, the rear brake squeaks ever since the changed the pads.
Tuned the bike myself, changed spark plug - I haven't faced then problem since then.
ASC usually messes up with disc brakes. I had the same issue with my front disc after ASC changed the disc fluid. Had to get the issue resolved in a local workshop. He cleaned the tube and changed master cylinder piston. Its almost a year after that, no issues so far.

Looks a little lean to me!Originally posted by RohIIT View PostHere is the spark plug pic of my xtremeDo comment on mixture setting
The carb hasn't been cleaned in more than 10,000km and speaking of Spark Plugs, my spark plug has brown spots, not the ones you get with a good mixture, but spots like it has been burnt at those places. Can fixing these 2 things solve my problems?Originally posted by SatSon View PostI had varying idle issue when AFR setting was lean, also my spark plug was too old that time.

But I don't understand why the bike shuts off at very, very light throttle input?
The brakes, I've never been happy with the front brakes. The new bikes have Bybre brakes. To get brake bite like that, must I change the entire brake setup except for the disk or only the master cylinder? Or will changing the major and/or minor kit do the job? I've already switched to the KBX brake pads in front, but not much help.

re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
@ashwin.terminator Try changing the spark plug and retuning the carb as satson said. Also varying rpm shows either you are running lean or there is air leakage into carb . A lean mix causes problematic issues of hot starting and a fouled spark plug adds to it too.
EDIT : Added a pic of my plug earlier one wasnt much clear .. Please comment

re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
Man, from engineer you converted me to a doctor, speak all you can i am all earsOriginally posted by mrbabu76 View PostYes this guy is really Doctor for bikes.
@DOCTOR(Sibun)
,
I would like to replace my 1 lakh kms old classic Unicorn. I need a 150cc bike with very simple looks and without much Gizmos. I have checked and test rode Hero Achiever and I am ok with the looks and pick up. I need your view on this as this bike is not popular in Tamil Nadu.
.
Regarding achiever then let me tell you some of the positives of it:-
1. First of all it is the most fuel efficient 150 cc bikes around. My friend has it and most of the time mileage hovers around 60 kpl.
2. The seat is the best as it is very comfortable and if you are married then your wife will be thankful as its rear seat is most comfortable.
3. The bike is light at 134 kg so will feel lighter to zip through traffic than hunk and CBZ.
4. Maximum torque is at 5000 rpm, so pull is better than even UNICORN in low revs, almost pulls like splendor at low revs.
5. The new model looks quite good and has alloys with all black theme, and has also Disc brakes. Also the headlight shape is so good that high beam pattern is excellent as noticed in my friends achiever.
6. Is as quick as Unicorn to 60 kph and slightly more quicker to 80 kph than unicorn although not as quick as extreme, although not significant difference.
I have given you some positives and if you are interested then let me know i will tell you the ride experience and all. And regarding popularity then let me tell you i do not see what is popular or not, i see the product and buy. When i bought the Joy then passion and splendor were hot sellers and even Joy flopped, But any one day i have not regretted the decision, instead i feel happy and one of my old friend is there who always say that we both have so much memories with this bike that i love this bike as much as you do. Evan after 12 years it still returns 75-78 kpl in city and with two up it pulls inclines better than my extreme at low speeds in high gear. So i will not advice you whether to go for it or not, but see what you feel and let me know.
Clean the carburettor and change the air filter, extreme/hunk have 28 mm carburettor so it is very susceptible to dirty filter. I have faced the problem and changing the filter solved it. Also re-tune the carb after all this.Originally posted by ashwin.terminator View PostI've a small problem. Bike has completed 20k KM btw.

For the front disc get a new major kit and completely overhaul the master cylinder bike will be back to original bite. If you want you can change to BYBRE master cylinder for more braking power or can change to KARIZMA master cylinder kit.
Regarding rear DISC then those idiots while fitting has made the pads greasy or oily, check it and change it.
And regarding those ASC it will be better if you never go to them, find a good independent mechanic, or better work on your bike. I am here to help you all, and to remove your dependance on mechanic, and i assure you i will help you solve all your problems, even you can call me anytime, ask SHOEB and PAUL they have called me anytime and i have helped them, even PAUL re-built an engine by calling me and taking guidance, So i urge you to learn everything and no need to worry, I AM HERE HAVE NO FEAR. re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk
Thanks for those words of encouragement Sibun. It certainly gives me the confidence to tinker around on my own. I did call you once and your diagnosis was spot on! Just that, I tried cleaning the carb once, couldn't figure out what to do with the TPS. Then I forget to tighten a screw that led from the carb to the head and I'd lost the idling screw's spring. So I'm a little scared of I'll end up doing again. Also, my spark plug seems to have burn marks on the sides, must I change my plug or can I continue with this?Originally posted by sibun View PostClean the carburettor and change the air filter, extreme/hunk have 28 mm carburettor so it is very susceptible to dirty filter. Haha, looks like my post on Team-BHP hasn't gone unnoticed.
Well, yes, I will do as you said. My bike's carb hasn't been cleaned in 10,000km. So I'm almost certain it's all clogged up.
The brakes yes, is the Bybre better or Karizma's? Karizma's is Nissin, yes? I was never happy with the stock braking, so will a change in Major Kit really help? And any idea how much the Major Kit should cost?
And the Big Bore well, I haven't really been able to use it to its full potential. The pick up increased dramatically, as you must've read, only once had I touched 102kmph on a flyover here and once the big bore upgrade was done, 108kmph was consistent. I could go faster, but had to slow down. Bike would redline very, very easily. Lots more grunt, but coupled with the short gearing, it meant I would only be accelerating faster while my ultimate goal was to cruise easier at higher speeds.
But now, after the sprocketing, I could pull away from a P200NS in 3rd and 4th gear. The bike is stonking fast in 3rd and 4th, amazing fun. Fifth gear is quite lazy for now. I expect the bike to be capable of 120kmph now.
According to Joel's numbers, my bike should currently be at 17.xx bhp.
Mine is a very vague review of the Big Bore, I will update thoroughly once I go out on a long ride this June.
Sibun, is it possible for you to actually give us a DIY on how to service our bikes ourselves? From what all is to be done to how it is to be done.
Someday, when you're servicing your bike, could you take pictures of what you're doing and then put it up with text in the form of a tutorial? It'll benefit most of us here I am sure. I for one am a little skeptical to working on my own bike because Sunday is the only day I get to work on the bike and if something goes wrong, getting to college on Monday is going to be a big pain. If we had a reference, we can only go wrong in minor places and can keep required tools in hand along with necessary spares.
Haha, chill my man.
I wanted to get all issues sorted before I post here, the mileage being the biggest one. I didn't want Joel to get any flak from this community which knows him so much better compared to Team-BHP. I wanted to post once all the issues not pertaining to the bore were sorted out.
It's not a valid reason perhaps, but Joel did a brilliant job with the bore and I didn't want things like a clogged air filter, dirty carb, damaged spark plug bring him any disrepute.
On a side note, I cannot wait for Joel's High Lift cams.
I don't want any mods to be visible on the outside, like a FFE and what not. The exterior should be the same, but the inside should be a different story altogether.
Also, I was wondering if the new Xtreme's footrests will be a direct fit on the Hunk? From what I've noticed, the spring in thr Xtreme's footrests don't settle into a hole. Rather, they settle on the outside of the footrest itself. So by my estimation, it ought to be a direct fit. Anyone has a better idea about this?Last edited by ashwin.terminator; 06-03-2013, 03:57 AM.Hero Honda Hunk 2011, RC'ed, DC'ed, MC'ed! :P

Yes Sibun most of the above points are felt during my Test ride. The gear shifts are bit stiff when compared to my Unicorn. Maximun load specified for Aciever is 130 kg, the same for Unicorn is 170 kgs so what is the difference here. Is the Achiever is too light to take more weight. Aiso can you comment on new Achiever's Head light brightness.Originally posted by sibun View PostMan, from engineer you converted me to a doctor, speak all you can i am all ears

Hi Sibun,Originally posted by nishesh.kumar View PostHi Sibun,
Thanks for your detailed reply. So, what I've understood is that I have to purchase following parts;
1. 43520-MJ6-315 PISTON SET M/C (It consists of BOOT COMP. as well) - 1 nos.
2. 43530-MV9-006 PUSH ROD COMP. - 1 nos.
I've visited two different authorized spare parts dealers, but mentioned parts were not available. Instead they were having complete rear master cylinder kit costing 2600.00
which I cant afford.
Can I find the minor kit in local market which are made by other manufacturers. I reside in Delhi and karol bagh is hub for spare parts. Plz suggest.
