Use the extreme silencer because unicorn silencer is different than extreme. The tuning of silencer differs as the cam timing, firing and cam lift differs. The silencer is different, else how do you think the torque moved high to 6500 rpm and power increased. So do not ever try to fit unicorn silencer as power and characteristics will be changed and you may not like the bike. And more-over unicorn silencer is not cheaper then extreme.

I have rode 300 kms since the engine overhaul of my xtreme. Bike's performance is satisfactory, and she is giving average of around 45 kmph. I' m also following the run-in, and have never taken her above 5 K rpm.

NOTE: Today morning, I went for PUC test of my bike, since the last one had expired. The measured CO2 level was 4.2%, whereas the threshold is 3.5%
Then I consulted my mechanic, who told that it's normal for new cylinder kit, and the increased CO2 level is due to the carbon deposited in the silencer. He also told that he'll tune the carb in the next servicing and there is nothing to worry.

Whats your take on this.
I changed the current engine oil (Gulf Pride 10w30) after running 500 Kms. This time I have used Motul 3000 4T 10w30 Mineral oil and will change this one after 1000 Kms.
There was absolutely no problem with Gulf, but I thought to give Motul Mineral 10w30 a try. I'll get the carb tuned during second oil change i.e after riding 1500 Kms since engine overhauling. I believe the increased CO2 level will come back to normal after tuning.
I'm also planning to the get the Centrifugal filter and Engine Oil Strainer cleaned as well, since there may be some metal particles of the newly installed Bore-Kit inside the C.F.
Please share any more pointers, which should be checked during next servicing.
Attached are the images of spark plug after running 500 Kms for reference.

Guys need your help, I have just tighten my bikes tappet and now they are fine there is no sound of tik-tik, but I have started facing a strange problem now just after the tappets work done, when I start my bike it refuse to start without pulling the choke (as I am able to find out it is because of very low idling) & when it start with choke after some 1 minute idling on choke I just push back the choke lever and then bike shows me idling at 800k to 1000k and it feels like engine will be switch off anytime, so I simply adjust the idling from AF screw to 1400K (Note- when I start riding without adjusting AF screw it don't give any problem in accelerating) after some 4-5 kms specially when engine get its normal running heat idling himself increase up to 2200k without touching to AF screw.....and if i start riding without touching to AF screw after some 4-5 kms it start showing idling to same 1400k as normal....?

What could be the problem...I never faced any carb. problems till 20K it was perfectly fine before I adjusted my tappets...?

WOW, Congrats Riazmomin, Please share the riding experience. Enjoy the time with the beast and ride safe

Coming to my Xtreme, i had given my bike for service to local mechanic as Sibun and others suggested.

Problems i had before i gave for service to local Mechanic

1) As i mentioned earlier, after a travel of 30KM or so, bike loses its smoothness and become hard to drive. Vibrations all over the bike @ any speed (Was totally fed up)
2) Gear shifts, especially 4th and 5th are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo hard (tried will all possible clutch handling). Always i find a double shift in those gears. (Just before 200KM i topped up the OIL). I Thought that improper gear shift only leads to the problem number 1.
3) While riding, i always find some kinda unbalanced, and the front part always jumps a little (Frequently check and filled the air, using Nitrogen, Front 29,Back 33).
4) Vibrations @ 3.5 to 4.5 K RPM everytime.

Things that Mechanic Did

Before i gave to mechanic, i rode for 50KM and after finding it to be so rough, i thought enough of ASC and went to mechanic.
He removed the whole body and engine covers, Air Filter and cleaned everything and tightened the Engine mount Screws (He said that it was little loose which led to Roughness).
He then took a look of all the other parts, everything was OK he said and after a wash, he lubricated the chain.

Problems i have now after gave for service to local Mechanic

Problem 1 was resolved somewhat, the next day i went about 70KM, there was no or only little roughness felt.
Problem 2 Still Exists -> Mechanic dont know what to do here (Do i need to check whether clutch plates are fine in this case?)
Problem 3 Mechanic tested the front wheel and said it looks like some Bend is there, he suggested another shop where the bends will be rectified, yet to go there, so it still exists
Problem 4 This one, i think its the character of the Xtreme . I don think anything can be done to this

Apart from these problem, now there is a new problem like the idle RPM is not stable because of which in the morning engine shuts itself, and in the evening the idle shoots upto 2 to 2.5 K RPM. Whole bike vibrates more than before in Idle. Also i feel whenever i release the throttle, in whatever gear and speed, bike is viby, the RPM decreases veryyyyy slowly .

Thanks,
Guru

@GuruXtreme

On a straight road with no traffic, speed upto 45kmph, pull the clutch and leave the accelerator.
Can you feel any kind of vibration at handle bars and foot pegs ?

Please check the chain slack at the tightest link of the chain.
The slack should be 1 and a half inch (1.5") Anything less than that - the gears will not slot properly and the bike vibrates even when coasting with the clutch pulled in.
This isn't a splendor where one can tighten the tappets and chain too much and get away with it.

An experienced mechanic can easily distinguish between the vibration caused by rattling body parts/panels and engine-transmission related .
In extreme, all the body parts/panels have rubber grommets where it attach to frame and they do not vibrate.

After you reply to this message, I will tell you how to solve idling rpm and other issues.

EDIT:
Check this post by Sibun. He has explained chain adjustment, rear wheel alignment and centering in a very simple language.

Ya, i m experiencing the vibrations @ foot and handle bar, also as i said my handle bar jumps a little (Tested in straight non bumpy road).
The problem here is no mechanic is able to recognize the issue, ASC guys or local mechanic . They will ride for little distance and say "Sir No problem in bike", thats the time i ll be like

Hi everyone,
Recently i took a charge of CBZ Xtreme 2011 model. Till now all free services were availed at ASC. 9.2k on odo. It was not performing like cbz xtreme which i knew. Even I feel my Discover 100 had a better ride quality than this one.

I don't want to go ASC because they are the culprits. Then while searching for a worshop manual I came across this thread.
I was very interested for the DIY articles by some of your very well experienced cbz Xtreme owners(mainly sibun). those were really helpful. You guys are really great.

To restore the performance, I started with the following activities:

1. Cleaned air filter- It was very much clogged like it was not opened or cleaned for last 5000kms.

2. Cleaned and Tuned Carb- It was never opened before. The assembly screws had to be slightly hammered to open it. Then tuned the carb with the help of sibun's carb tuning guide. Still I have some doubts on this, i will be posting soon.

3. Engine Oil Change- Elf moto 4 10w30 got one for Rs. 220 and Rs.15 discount coupon inside as a part of promotional offer. For Rs.205 it was a good deal. I was willing to buy Gulf 10w30 according to good experiences from all of you but that oil shop was selling it for MRP (no discount) which i refused to buy.

4. Front Disk brake pad cleaning- Braking was much improved after this. Thanks to that brake pad cleaning article.

5. Clutch adjustment- I was shocked to see the nut of clutch wire adjuster was very loose. (ohh! what the quality of service at ASC!!)

6. Replaced Spark plug- I know it was bit early. But I didn't like the condition of old spark plug. Used OEM only. Rs. 70

7. Replaced a rear suspension bush- While inspecting found large play with old bush. cost Rs. 10

8. Rear brake adjustment, Chain lubrication.

Then I took a test drive, and finally the performance was restored. Thanks to all your DIY guides.

Except there are some few more issues. I will post them soon.

No there is no such generic problem in extreme. Check the rollers on the rocker arms if they have play or not.

Your tappets are too tight and thus is causing the problem of compression leakage and thus idling, starting and performance problem. Get the tappets adjusted to 0.06mm inlet and 0.10 mm exhaust. See my experience at the end of post.

Your mechanic has touched the tappets else why did he open all. So get that adjusted to 0.06 mm and 0.10 mm. Your bike is new, so why are you obsessed with vibration and all. Let the engine settle down after running 5k or more kms. You are impatient from the day you bought the bike as a result mechanics are fiddling with the bike. As shoeb has said check the chain slack and all the body parts are mounted on rubber grommets which makes the plastic vibration free.

MY EXPERIENCE:-

Ok, here goes my experience which might help you all.The thing is that two week prior i was so pissed up with the bike that i just decided to sell it and get the ZMR.

the reason for my dis-appointment was that on that monday as usual i was going to my work place which is 172 kms from my home. The bike felt very lethargic and also was not pulling speeds.
I was finding it difficult to cross 5k rpm in fifth and also a lot of starting problems. It was feeling very bad and after riding the extreme riding on the Joy was feeling like heaven. I got so angry that( usually i am cool and have lot of patience but when i get angry then i get out of control), i decided that on returning on Saturday will sell it and until i get the ZMR will ride my Joy. Even had a talk with manager to provide staff loan and also asked my mechanic to find people to sell it.

Mileage has gone down to 35-40 kpl.
But i am also a kind of person who doesn't accept defeat so easily. I decided that if bike was running good just 15 days prior then why not now. Decided to get to the root of problem even if requires will open the head.So first i tried to diagnose the symptoms before jumping to conclusion.

The major two symptoms are:-

1. At cold start the bike will not start as if no petrol and also will require choke. Also the idle will flicker a lot until it doesn't warm up.

2. At high speed if we gas the engine then engine will feel like running rich opposite of part throttle operation. Also more throttle opening was required for maintaining same speed.

So i began to rack up my brain from years of experience and jumped upon two conclusion:-

1. At slow speeds engine is feeling like running lean. So slow jet is not giving enough fuel. Must be clogged as i fill at different pumps on highway and also carb has not been touched in 19k kms.

2. At high speeds feels like rich. But it cannot be, so bike having less compression will feel the same of running rich. The rockers were changed as the bearings were gone and most probably the tappets adjustment would be the culprit.

So first i did was to clean the slow jet. I didn't open the carb. Even i didn't remove the carb from the rubber ducts. Just loosened the rubber ducts carb and tilted the carb to side. Then opened the float chamber and opened the jets. Cleaned them thoroughly and refitted back. Started the engine and idle, starting and pick-up problem vanished.

then i opened the head cover and checked the tappets and the exhaust tappets were tight. Just adjusted both the tappets to 0.06 and 0.10 mm and re-fitted everything back. Started the engine and idle increased by 400 rpm. Adjusted the idle to 1k and the needle was rock steady.Retuned the AFR ratio, and bike is once again flying.

Touched 120 last saturday with rpm hovering at 9.3 k rpm.

Mileage is back to 48-52 kpl which i know is slightly less that i used to get before.

But nothing to worry as bike has run 20k and slight decrease in mileage is ok, as after 5k more that is at 25k will open the head and clean and also polish the valves. Moreover my bike is always above 70-75 kph which results in low mileage of 48-52 kpl.Extremes are tuned in such a way that at low speeds will return 55-58 kpl and cross 4.5k rpm and mileage will rapidly decrease. Its because extreme runs 28 mm carb and the jets are 35 and 128( larger than karizma jets). The carburettor is big and main jet is big in order to make the engine rev till redline with ease and make the top end strong. But this top end power kills the mileage at more than 5k rpm and nearing 6k rpm.
riazmomin- congratulations on your Duke 390.
lokesh- Welcome to the club. Extreme is one of the performance oriented 150 cc out there. Good that you serviced the bike on your own. One suggestion change the air filter instead of cleaning.

Is it possible to get OEM? What is its cost?

Problems with my Xtreme:

1. Tik Tik noise:

During idling I can hear slight tik tik noise, if I keep my ears close to block. But I can't hear that noise if I am in seated position on my bike.
At around 3500rpm the tik tik noise is very much audible to me which becomes very irritating. So I always try to increase or decrease speed to get away from that tik tik noise in that particular rpm.

Should I go for tappet adjustment or any other problem might be possible?

2. Front Suspension- Jumping:

When riding over small breakers I feel the bike is jumping. Fork Oil seals are good and never opened before. 9.2k kms on odo.

What could be the problem? The viscosity of fork oil?

This is the AF mixture screw right?

If I turn it clockwise, which side it is? Rich or Lean

Similarly for anticlockwise? Rich or Lean

OEM air filter costs around Rs.140/-

Adjust the tappets 0.06 mm (inlet) and 0.10 mm(Exhaust) as the bike is nearing 10,000 kms. Feeler gauge is a must.

Change the fork Oil and use Motul Fork Oil 20W, fill 150ml. Does it bottom out easily ?

Yes, that is the fuel screw. Turning it clockwise make the mixture lean and anti-clockwise makes it rich. Going by the picture of the screw head, I can say that the AFR was tampered.
Follow sibun's guide.

Hi Sibun, Thanks a lot once again.
My Story : I am as like bunch of people have IT as my profession.Because of some bad happenings in the past , i never kept interest in BIKE for 8 years. Even i don know what are the Bikes available in market until 4 months back. All i know is P150 bike. After a long thought and after some promises to my beloved peoples,i was granted to have a bike. U will laugh at me when i say this, i even don know that there is TD available before i can buy a bike , i asked my best friend which bike to buy, he said me to go with Xtreme and thats how i got it actually. (I am shame on myself on this aspect)
To make sure i get practice with 1down and 4up pattern, i asked my friend to give his pulsar for drive.
After riding the pulsar, i got the confidence, and fell in love with Xtreme on first sight, i kept calling him Night Fury. For first 2000 KM i didnt bother much because my friend said not to expect anything from the bike for atleast 2000 KM. I thought the vibration and roughness are all due to the fact that my bike is new.
After 2500 KM , i lost my patience, from then till now (ODO reading : 4000 KM now) it disturbs me a lot. Everytime i ride a bike for more than 10KM, my hands become numb and escaped to accidents till now. 1 Accident will keep me away from BIKE in this LIFE. Thats y i m cribbing here with heavy heart and having faith on u people. Sibun, Shoeb, PSR, riazmomin were particularly helpful for me in every aspect. As per advice given here only i went to fix my bike with local mechanic , instead of ASC.
The works carb, Tappets etc etc etc are very new to me, i like to learn about my Xtreme, i love to fix him myself. Can u guys please assist me to learn about each and every part and aspect of Xtreme.
Also i apologize for again and again cribbing about my problems here.

Thanks,
Guru.
