As for your problem change the choke cable. Due to the cable being hard sometimes due to handle movement choke is engaging and not closing. So change the cable and problem will go.

And water beading is quite good with Caranuba wax. But i think the best caranuba wax is from collinite. Sadly not available here.
Thank you sibun, and if it isn't a problem, could you please ask him for the Fuel Strainer as well? It's ok if you can't as well. Not a problem at all.

Will get that changed ASAP as well.

I've changed my xtreme's rider footpegs. It comes with only footpegs. You have to use old springs and pins. These dont come with OEM footpegs.

Hello everyone, I am posting after long time.

Shell AX7 10w40 served very well and supersmooth during summers when the temp in day went upto 47C.
But now the during monsoon it feels sluggish. So drained it after some 1500kms and filled Gulf Pride 4T plus 10w30. Got one for Rs.240 with 15Rs coupon under cap.(I couldnot find veedol here)

The oil feels good. Slightly better than average. It says it is synthetic blend.

Some few days back, someone here had described this situation of Bluish apperance on tank sides only during rains and then it disappears after drying up.

Even I am facing this problem, Is it commom to many? Is it harmful to the paint?

HH OE oil can be used till 2k kms before draining it.
SS/FS can run more than that.

That doesn't make sense.

Why would Hero do that? :O

Aah, exact same thing that I face! No idea what it is, but it hasn't seemed to have caused any issues as yet.

WTH is that? Is there a tank thigh pad on the sides of the tank? If that is the case then the bluish tinge is normal. Otherwise if it is only the paint, then there is definitely something fishy.

HH OEM oil loses its character after 200-400 kms.

Wooo that's creepy ! Was some kind of a polish or wax or the so called 'teflon' coating ever applied ? I think that might be causing this appearance
Only the petrol tank is metal, and therefore i think there is some weird reaction going on, which is not affecting the other plastic/fiber parts like side panels and mudguards.

Can you try and dry it off using a hair dryer and then again wet it manually (pour water/damp cloth etc..) and observe what happens ? am curious to know !
Otherwise just shoot an email to hero with these pics, and see what they got to say/do about it.

It appears like water adsorbing on the surface of the tank. You can relate to water adsorbing on bathroom mirror during hot-water bath.

A wax coat (water repellent) shouldn't cause it.

cheers

most svc's dont apply a nice wax coat.. its mostly some rubbing polish that gives the bike a shine and they give it all sorts of names like 'teflon' blah blah..
but definitely something (chemical reaction)is going on.. or is it just an optical illusion
btw, i don't think the steam on the bathroom mirror qualifies to be called an 'adsorption' phenomena.

Oops! it's localised condensation of water vapour.

No such thing like thigh pad. This bluish thing appears on both the sides only and not on the top of the tank. I had showed this to Hero ASC in 2012, they say its normal with some batches. They had even showed another bike there having such appearance. According to them, it is not harmful to paint or tank and this is true till now.

This same situation had appeared again in 2013 monsoon. Never applied any "Teflon" coating. Paint was good when dried. After the season was over last year I decided to wax it and used MotoMax Cream polish. And again after a year this bluish tint is appearing again.

Surprisingly this thing will not happen during regular washing with normal water. It will only appear when exposed to water over long period of time like in rains.

If you feel like that and you've the money to change oil in such short intervals, it is fine.

I have seen this phenomena many times in my Splendor's tank, which is in my native (Kerala) where monsoon lasts for many months.
But it gets disappeared the next day.
I think there is nothing to worry about this.

Then what does they said about the engine sound? If tappets are ok then my friend you may be in trouble, because you were using a heavy oil which will increase the engine temperature and can result in burned valves oil rings etc... Ask sibun ji about this because he is the engine specialist here. You can use ss for 3000 kms and fs for 4000-5000 kms. In my opinion dont change oils according to a specific period of time, just change it according to your feel of ride and bike's performance. But 1k kms is too less for an oil.

probably something to do with the 'pH' of the water or the impurities in it ..some weird chemistry stuff i guess.
