The mileage you're getting is too good!
I haven't been able to draw more than 45kmpl in my Hunk in Chennai city (100% city ride).
Mostly it hovers between 38-40 kmpl these days.
All looks fine from the bike's end, except the stock chain (38k kms old), which gets loose so often.

that mileage fig is what worries me a bit. already getting some signs of lean mixture (though iam not sure) and then this mileage fig adding insult rather than comfort.
previously i used to get 50 constantly in the route gemini->tenampet->guindy->ramapuram or vice versa. but now the route is Gemini->skywalk->maduraivoil->iyyapanthangal...just for an idea about traffic and i travel mostly at peak hours. i can expect some improvement in new route but not by this margin. The lowest mileage being 44 which is the very first tank fill of my bike...!!

me too havent change any specific parts apart from regular wearable. i think u might be a tough handler of throttle...?

waiting for sibun to reply for that video.

If mileage is a concern I done 100kms in 100 rs petrol in early days, when I bought my bike and when petrol was Rs. 58 per liter in Delhi

Just a question does it harm your engine if your bike is giving much mileage in long term, in any case?

it may sound weird, but indeed lean mixture will give more mileage but it is not advisable since it may have adverse effect on engine as explained by sibun.

thats y i want to confirm whether iam running very lean or not. if u go through few posts earlier i have raised this query...!!

and my mileage quote was based on the price Rs 69.50/l.

Recently covered Ranchi-Patna-patna-bogh gaya-ranchi trip on xtreme. Distance 315 kms one way (Total 630).
I adjusted carb to 1.8 turn before trip, as sibun suggested. I didnt check mileage by reserve to reserve method but i assume that i covered 315 kms in 5 litres.
Its performance is upto my satisfaction but tappet sound appeared after 50 kms, (may i have to readjust tappets) at cold there is no tappet sound.
Average cruising speed was 70-80kmph. Top speed achieved 95 kmph for the first time on bike.
I drive almost non stop, is it bad for bike engine (stops 3 times for 10 mins) and is it the cause of tappet sound.
After half an hour of reaching patna, bike is not starting, there is compression loss, kick lever goes down easily, self not working (whats the cause of compression loss)

            Here are some pics.

And plug gap is not 2 mm but 0.8-0.9 mm gap. The sound you are hearing is valves hitting the electrode of spark plug. Man see the manual before adjusting anything. The manual s given for a purpose. Quickly open the spark plug and adjust gap otherwise the valves and piston crown will get damaged.

There was slight bend in valve stem. What could be the reason. as i was not convinced by his reason that bad tappet setting.

Brother, your images are really awesome.
I've been to Tilaiya Dam, and that place is so beautiful.
Patna is my home town, and I had purchased my xtreme from there only.
When I got a job in Delhi, then I transported my bike to Delhi via railways.
I wish to visit my home town by xtreme some day. Distance is around 1000 kms from Delhi, and your trip has really inspired me.

Bro that valve is really damaged. Has your tappet been adjusted outside ever. Be it svc. Someone has tightened the tappets too much as a result valve had gone bent.
The bore and piston crown are ok. Since the valves are bent ask them to change valve guide. The rocker bearing indicates tappets were tightened too much. I think u got a good svc who knows what the problem is and ready to honour warranty.

I used to travel in almost the same route before ! i.e, teynampet -> guindy -> ramapuram -> dlf it park, on my black Hunk (first generation).
Now I am having short rides - porur -> dlf it park, as I shifted home to Porur.
And, regarding tough handler of throttle - not much, but love quick acceleration in 2nd gear, do 70kmph sometimes and very rarely 80 also (if the roads are free)
Trying to be very gentle with throttle to see if it improves mileage, in the last few days. Also, cleaned spark plug and tuned the bike myself last weekend. Let us see.
Note: I had done engine overhaul alsmost a year before with new bore/piston and other parts.

Between, I check mileage by Reserve to reserve method, and I fill for 200-300 rupees mostly.
Not sure if checking in such short duration will show less mileage.

me too shifted to iyyapanthangal hence the change in route. low filing wont change mileage much...i have checked by various fills and almost found more or less same.

regarding throttle control, it show much noticeable difference in mileage. even we can ride at 80 but with proper control we can achieve good mileage figure also.

i have the habit of riding the bike with minimal gear shift as much as possible, that means no sudden twisting the wrist.

btw, how many KM is the engine life..?

Okay, so we are neighbors then.
Yes, I think I need to be more alert about the throttle control.

I am the second owner of the bike (2008 model) when I bought it at 20k kms on odo. It was drinking oil then itself which I failed to notice when buying. I don't know how the first owner managed to damage the bore within 20k kms
Later, at around 31k, complete engine overhaul was done, which costed me a whopping 12k including cost for some minor works like fork overhaul, swing arm bushes etc
Now the bike has completed around 7k after the engine overhaul.

Now the bike has completed around 7k after the engine overhaul.
yes its very difficult to know the exact condition of second hand bikes...!! but atleast now ur bike performs well...!!!

anyway the only mod iam planing is to fit uncorn's front sprocket to my hunk to overcome the very short gearing..!!
