Thank you Lokesh027 you made one hell of a contribution by adding these pages here, it is very hard to find information about these scooters even on the internet. It would surely help people in need. One thing I noticed about the manual is that it is very much detailed, unlike the manuals we get now-a-days. Ah, good ol' days, when apple, orange and blackberry were just fruits

          Yes. Without a problem.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

What is the difference between HET and old models? New Aviator is having HET and I have an old one. Am I missing some important upgrade?

I was at the local spares shop to pick up engine oil for my Dio (been using the Castrol Activ Gearless scooter oil 20w40) and I noticed that Castrol now also makes the same gearless scooter engine oil in the 10w30 grade (this bottle has the marketing term 'ZIP BOOSTERS' printed on it) - This though doesn't seem to be listed on their website (their website only lists the 20w40 gearless scooter oil - Castrol India - Castrol Activ Scooter )
To those who use 10w30.. especially on the newer scoots with HET, you can give this a try.. I am sure it would be as good or better than the Honda 'oem' oil. But i personally would prefer to stick to the 20w40 for the older model activa/dios, and maybe will try the 10w30 at the next service.

                  • Got the Activa-i

Did not find a thread for activa-i, so posting it here.

Booked the activa-i on 16th january, and wanted it on 4th of Feb, so got the delivery on 4th of Feb. Being vasant panchmi, lots of vehicles were being delivered, so the vehicle was not washed / cleaned properly.

The speedo cable was disconnected and fuel guage was also non-functional, which got rectified the next day.

After riding the Duke 200 (still ride it), the engine is butter smooth, no vibes felt and sometimes cannot hear the engine running. did a highway run of 40 kms, and feel that it should give a mileage of around 50-55 kmpl.

                      Hey guys
                      I ve a Honda Dio (2012),
                      Kms:3700kms.
but quite recently I have been facing the following problems.
1). After riding a few kms I hear exhaust pop sounds whenever I decelerate. I don't hear this every time but sometimes I do.
2). After riding a bike for about 20 minutes or so, I hear this rustling sound near the clutch plate(near the kick starter).
I mentioned this problem during my regular service in Honda A. *. *. They solved the problem. I was said it was some belt noise due accumulation of dirt.
But after 1 month noise problem was back again.
This time I went to my trusted mechanic. He told me the actual problem, He lubricated the Clutch Plate Assembly with some heavy duty grease. Problem was then solved, no more noise but now the problem is back again like a nightmare.
                      Help me guys.
                      Thanks in advance.

Probably due to questionable fuel quality or a rich afr setting - first try to use fuel from a different fuel station and observe for a few days, if not get the carb adjusted at the svc

The clutch plate assy per se doesnt need any grease since it is a dry clutch, except on the insides - watch this Scooter CVT Transmission : Full Service Inspection - YouTube
And at 3700kms that's way TOO early to be needing any attention.
My guess is you probably have a worn/out of spec drive belt or clutch bell or the maybe the nut holding the clutch bell in place is coming loose. Get the clutch bell inspected and also the wear on the clutch shoes and drive belt. But again, at 3700km its way too early for these parts to wear out/replaced unless someone has been driving/accelerating while holding the brake - which leads to premature wear on the clutch and damages the clutch bell.

Just so you know, my '07 dio still runs on the original clutch bell/shoes/springs and only the front variator rollers were changed after 40k kms and the drive belt at around 25k kms.
I'll probably be changing the clutch shoes and springs after a cpl of months, since i now notice a drop in the nippiness/acceleration.

I think it is a premature wear,
Do you have any idea how much this overall repair cost at Honda A.*.*. IN Bangalore?

There is nothing to 'repair'.. just the necessary parts need to be replaced. I don't the price of the spares of the top of my head, but i will check with my mech in a cpl of days since i will be getting my dio serviced. And IMO the labor charges shouldn't exceed Rs.200 @ a ASC. I have been getting my dio serviced at a local mech for almost 6yrs now, and the full service charge is 300rs (which includes opening up the variator side and inspecting/cleaning it up as shown in the video above)
It would take hardly 20 mins to dismantle the clutch assy and put in a new one.

Your dio is new with only 3700kms run. So, the clutch cannot get worn so early unless done something wrong or parts swapped if we consider worse case.
Lets talk about ASC, in their regular service they will never open the clutch. Their job is to grease the rollers in the variator.
This is a place where dirt attracts because of grease. After doing some 100kms the grease will be thrown out with large centrifugal force. The only thing remains is dirt screeching between rollers and variator housing which is the cause of that noise. So, the greasing is a temporary solution and wrong practice.
Ultimately, the solution I got from other technical forums on Internet is only using solid grease which stays longer without accumulating dirt.
I think you will understand this.
Tell me i will post more details.

I don't think there is that much grease around the rollers even from the factory.. Let me tell you this because i have always had the clutch side opened and cleaned up at every service which is around once every 5 months (at a local mech). Even the first time it was opened there wasn't any grease and i never faced any noise. We only apply very little (like applying tilak on your forehead) of the regular multipurpose grease on the variator (where the rollers rest/slide) - and a cpl of times did not apply any grease... And i haven't faced any noise, with grease or without grease..
He needs to inspect all the parts mentioned the video above and replace them if needed.. even those tiny rubbers on the variator..
