Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
Hello guys
I bought an activa in april 2012 and now the battery died(atleast asc told this to me) i am wondering that isn't it a very short interval for a battery to die...they charged it for 4 hrs and now the battery is working fine but i can't feel that power in it while starting or while using horn. Also my tyres are worn out...i was wondering if i can use tubless tyres of mrf....authorised dealer of mrf told me that tubless is available but hes not sure if it would fit in old activa....kindly advice me about the battery replacement & also which battery if i have to change..... Also help me choosing the tyres ....if anyone is using mrf tubeless. Thanks in advance.!

Thanks in advance.!I brought a exide battery for less than 1500 bucks and it has now 18 months replacement warranty, after that some discount on new purchase of same battery, its good and battery lasts only 2 years or max 2.5 years if cared like checking acid level monthly and recharging it in every three months, since no one does that therefore normal activa battery lasts only 18-20 months..Originally posted by Rishabh14 View PostHello guys

I am not gonna maintain the battery in any way, like adding distilled water and charging, so would you advice me to buy the same?

Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
I dunno bout the price, I bought a regular amaron battery for 1200 bucks over a year ago, got 5 years warranty on that. Yes those are maintenance free.Originally posted by Rishabh14 View PostCan you please tell me about amaron battery?(warranty and cost) and also tell me that are these batteries really maintenance free?

Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
Dear , I have been looking for solution for non effective suspension of activa. Most of the local mechanics shown inability to use any other suspension ( telescopic)Originally posted by CJ View PostIs it posible to change the stock suspension of activa which is quite hard to soft ??
However , I am seriously working on the possibility to use telescopic suspension for my activa
I would update as an when i do some progress .
Also request you to guide me for possibilities and risks involved (technical) in assembly.

Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
Kinetic has similar suspension and telescopic suspension can be installed in it. The Honda aviators front suspension mostly might fit on an Activa, check it out.Originally posted by MAS View PostDear , I have been looking for solution for non effective suspension of activa. Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
After learning a lot about using Diesel engine oils in 4 stroke gasoline engines here on Engine Oils thread, I decided to go for it in my Honda Dio during this oil change. I opted for Shell Rimula R3 15w40.
Till now I have done 35K kms on dio in total & used following engine oils –
Honda oem 20w40 & 10w30, Shell AX5 20W40 & Castrol Activ Scooter 20w40.
I have done @600kms on shell rimula r3 which includes both city / highway riding & it has been a very positive experience with this oil.

Following are the advantages of diesel engine oil over conventional 4t oils (as per my observations/experience only)-
Engine feels very smooth & revs freely, no sign of any engine heating or fatigue even during some long distance spirited riding or bumper to bumper city traffic riding. In fact it now runs more cooler & smoother than before.
These oils have very high detergent properties to clean the carbon built up inside the engine.
Being commercial vehicle oil, I am expecting that this oil will stay in grade for longer duration.
No notable difference in fuel economy.
No cold starting issues, instant throttle response, I mean it doesn't takes much time for warm-ups.
Not very expensive (cost almost similar to normal 4t mineral oil).

Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
2500 kms will be too early to go for synthetic oil. Currently, I would recommend you to use normal mineral 4t oil preferably honda oem oil only during free services to avoid any warranty issues.Originally posted by Chandrajit View Posthi, I'm due for a oil chance at free service. @2500 kms on my aviator. Can I go for synthetic oil.... Which one... The one in 'black container' is it????

Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
I still own a Honda Dio 2010 model and it's been nearly four years.. completed 75000 kms today and I still have no faults with it! Love riding it on d highways and go for long rides about 100kms straight... managed top speeds of 80 to 85 but would stay at 70 in order to avoid stressing the engine!!! Mileage is around 35 to 50 kmpl which I think is good enough for me :P Still happy with it

Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
Yesterday had been to the asc to get the cone set replaced. On opening up the front end, it was found that only the upper race and ball bearings needed replacement and not the entire coneset. also had the head light bulb holder replaced with oem since i had been using a aftermarket one from swiss since a year and there was a loose connection and beam strength wasn't good (earlier i had a issue that sometimes high beam dint come on and changed the bulb holder but had to use the connector from the original one since the connector on the swiss aftermarket bulb holder dint mate with the wiring harness) - now again i was having the same issue and it turns out the connector was the culprit, so replaced it with oem and everything works fine now. also picked up a tuff up tube (whose prices seem to be rising faster than gold and petrol) since the front tire is due for replacement.
items 1 & 2 are the ball bearings, #4 is the bulb holder and #5 is the 'upper race' which holds the ball bearings in the upper part of the steering stem.(one component of the 'cone set' - full coneset costs approx 360rs.) and labor charges were 150rs.
total expenses: Rs.829
also inquired about the cost of a full body panel kit for the dio and was told its around 4000!! and was told its difficult for them to get hold of one, and they asked me to visit the local parts market at ram kote, hyderabad. 7 yrs ago the entire kit sold for around 1400rs!Last edited by s1d; 11-20-2013, 12:11 PM.
