Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
. Happy that my post helped you. Yes you are right the new improved Honda engines (HET) are best in performance & efficiency. The new ones easily gives 45 plus kmpl. Only problem I faced in this scooter was the rattling of front fairing which becomes irritating in long rides, the solution is to use rubber washers on the front screw mounts (may be helpful to present owners).Originally posted by icemang View Post

Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
cervical spondylitis, if i am right is related to the neck area.. the riding position on the dio (the older model) might cause some back pain if they maintain a 'stiff' riding position (mostly associated with women riders)..This is because the seating and footrest area is slightly sloping forward. but i am not sure if the front suspension is going to cause neck pain/related issues.Originally posted by icemang View PostHello friends,
My wife has a 4 year old Dio. She suffers from cervical spondylitis which I suspect has been triggered by the Dio's poor front suspension.
I will be grateful to Aviator users for their feedback on the front suspension of this scooter; I feel it is much superior to the Dio's. Difficult to get a test ride so will depend on your inputs.
Thanks.
i have ridden my 6 yr old dio for around 40k km now and never had neck pain.. just a bit of back pain on long-ish rides i.e. 20km + rides in traffic (and that too i guess because of my spine injury i suffered a couple of years ago)
for a more relaxed seating position, you could ask her to try out the pleasure.. which is also a reliable scoot. and i share you partiality to honda's engines

maybe on paper ;-) atleast the wego can't beat the honda's reliability and quality !Originally posted by icemang View Post
Head to head, it seems that the TVS Wego is superior in terms of the overall offering.Last edited by s1d; 06-05-2013, 11:36 PM.

Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
Hi all,
I am planning to buy a scooter for my dad.
I was thinking about Access a while before, but since Honda has launched the Activa and aviator with HET engine, higher FE figures have been reported.
Hence, Access was ticked out of the equation. Now, i am wondering if a Aviator or an Activa would be better?
Dad's requirements would be a comfortable, hasslefree ride also good space available on the footboard of the scooter, since when we go to our local mall we use our old Kinetic honda for this stuff and everything bought is kept on the footboard.
Please let me know which one handles better and i am also informed that Aviator comes with a disc brake option, would that make a difference?
FE on both seems to be the same more-or-less.
Only negative i find in Activa is the sloping seat, if the one behind you is hefty he will have the tendency to slide forward thus disturbing the rider seating space/comfort.
So, have to decide between the two.
Thanks.

Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
you can go for the new activa-i that was recently launched (should be available by end of this month or early july). this model of the activa-i seems less bulkier than the regular activa.Originally posted by Chandrajit View PostHi all,

The aviator is also a good scoot (all these scoots basically share the same engine) - and IMO the disc brake isn't really required on a scoot this size , but the suspension on the aviator is a tad better than the ones on the activa.
And all of them have more or less the same space on the footboard.
What you need to do is, take your dad to the showroom and let him ride the Activa's (activa and activa-i) and the Aviator and then take the call on what to purchase.

Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
Don't go for the activa, go for a scooter with telescopic front forks such as aviator or access. The forks on the activa are hard and not suitable for the elderly. The access is a good option since its fuel efficient and provides more power than Honda scooters.Originally posted by Chandrajit View PostHi all,

Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
I went to the showroom today, didn't find the Activa-i. I am a bit inclined towards Aviator since I am 5ft 10, i find it better. Only thing that makes my father shy away from the Aviator is that its body is made of fiber compared to Activa's metal body as the showroom guys say that once an Aviator falls, the fiber tends to take a good beating and wont look nice at all.Originally posted by s1d View Postyou can go for the new activa-i that was recently launched (should be available by end of this month or early july). this model of the activa-i seems less bulkier than the regular activa.

I dont really know about the parts availability for Access, but i know for sure is that Access wont be able to deliver a mileage of around 50Kmpl which the new HET engines from Honda offer (on road conditions). I hear Access gives a fuel average of around 42 (+/- 2).Originally posted by sinnerz2000 View PostDon't go for the activa, go for a scooter with telescopic front forks such as aviator or access. So as far as the mileage thing is concerned, Honda seems to have it covered here. Also, Honda engie is considered more reliable.
Thanks
Thanks, even I am a bit inclined towards the Aviator, will ask my dad to take a TD tomorrow.Originally posted by RSM2852 View PostGet Aviator.I found it most comfortable among the three however on power factor i am a lil bit confused.

Like i said, the Activa-i should be available only towards the end of this month or in July.. and that's one advantage the Activa has that its body is mostly metal and will free from rattles or fiber parts breaking away. (for which the Dio is notoriously known for and i have almost every fiber part broken on my Dio, it has never fallen down though
)

Honda's spares are easier to procure than those of Suzuki's (from my exp with honda and the feedback from my mechanic on the Suzuki's).. and the newer scoot engines from honda should average 50 +/- 2 in the city
So as far as the mileage thing is concerned, Honda seems to have it covered here. Also, Honda engie is considered more reliable.
I find the Honda scoots more refined than the others.. the Hero Pleasure comes close behind.

Take a TD, and decide..

The Aviator is more comfortable than a dio and shouldn't be a problem to you. A friend of mine who is also 6' has an aviator and i've ridden it a few times and its good. All these scoots from Honda (Aviator/Activa/Dio) share a same/similar great ;-) engine that is reliable in the long run (of course if maintained properly)
But before you make a purchase, take a test ride.. also try the new Activa (costs lesser).

change the bulb like sinnerz mentioned, or if you are unable to get the colored bulb, wrap the existing bulb in that fancy transparent color paperOriginally posted by sinnerz2000 View PostJust change the bulb to the color u want

I feel the hero maestro is a more VFM bike than the activa, its more comfier and has a nice digi meter for about the same or lesser price than the activa, both share the same engine.

Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
Thanks for all advice. But i am here only talking about aviator. Here in delhi aviator cost us approx 53000. Maestro is around 55000 and activa is around 52000. Activa, deo, accesss are small for as the handbar touches my knees. I am only concern is about aviator & mastro. Somehow i again little bit dicy for the shape of maestro.Originally posted by sinnerz2000 View PostI'm 6.2 nd the dios handle bar touches my knees
