Thanks, that's a nice Directory:

Oh, I cleaned the Secondary Air Supply Unit. Earlier I removed 10mm bolts(I'm not sure how I got confused). Five 12mm bolts and the cover comes up happily.

After cleaning which oil/grade did you used to lube the secondary air filter?

While we wait for an answer from SparKot , I'd say stick to the 90 gear oil or even plain ol' engine oil 10w30 / 20w40 - remember, its just a tiny sponge (approx 3 x 4 inch) and requires just around 10-15 drops of oil (and it is not required to be soaked in oil and squeezed out like a regular sponge filter used as a primary filter in motorcycles)
If you ask me how do i know this.. well, I once bought a new one from the showroom and it was sold pre-oiled (with very little oil compared to the 'soaking'/squeezing out excess oil method) - If you buy from a third party spares shop, they sell it dry (maybe not oem but still the same little sponge)

Bought 1 ltr Kerosene from a local provision store @65/- per ltr for cleaning purposes. Remember to dry the foam(AirFilter) long enough to let Kerosene dry up. I did only for 10 mins approximately.

Manual says to soak in SAE 20w40 and squeeze all excess. I used 10w30 engine-oil leftover from refill. I didn't soak as they said but poured few drops on top and squeezed it for even distribution.

Did Honda introduced Viscous Air Filters for better or worse?

Honda says don't open/clean primary Viscous AirFilter till 15000 kms. But I found teaspoon full of fine dust(resembled Boost) in it after mere 3000 kms. I live in the outskirts of Bengaluru(Bangalore) where real estate construction ruins roads 24/7/365.25! I might have to replace primary Viscous AirFilter every 6-9k kms.

Thank you for your help. I am able to now engage the stop lever. The problem was, the rear brake lever travel was too long. So even after locking it, vehicle used to slide down the slope. Now, it works fine.

Hi guys

My activa battery is dead. I gave my activa to a local mech and told none of the electricals work when the switch is on but the engine is off...tried battery charging but he told me the battery is dead..however when i was bringing back my activa to home..horn worked when engine was on and indicators were glowing continously when switched on. When engine is off horn is feeble and indicators glow continously..may be battery was charged thats why

What do you guys say?

And which battery is good for activa?

How old is the battery?? If it is stock once, time for you to change it. Just by charging the batterry for few minutes will nit have any effect on it. Battery needs to be charged for good 6-8hrs. But, since your battery is stock one (making a guess), even charging it will not be beneficial.

Go for Maintenance Free battery, preferably Amaron. They are gel based and don't require any top-up's incase of normal battery. How much is the Ampere of battery??

Cheerz!!

Bad monday for me guys  Me & my friends planned for trip to Tumkur's DD Hills but after traveling a few kilometers, I heard *tap*tap*tap* sound on tar road, I stopped my Dio on the shoulder of road to see a 2 cms pointed needle like object poked into the scooter's front tyre, it seemed like a toy's mechanical part :what: I removed it from the tyre & the front tyre air pressure seemed to be down by 10%, after traveling half way (about ~40 kms) to destination, found a small shop next to a petrol bunk which fixed tubeless tyres. By the time I had reached that puncture shop air pressure was down by 30%. I requested him to fix the puncture ASAP & Whoaa , he showed me another very very tiny hole at the rear tire, air was leaking at a slow pace (he showed that to me with the help of soap water). After fixing the 2 punctures, I asked him what it had cost me & shockingly it cost me whopping Rs. 200/- FOR EACH TIRE. Helplessly I paid him & returned back to Bangalore.(due to mood swing).

But I realized the fact that Stock MRF NyloGrip Zapper tubeless tyres did a great job of retaining the air pressure until I reached the puncture shop and saving me from a worse day.

I just use petrol to clean the sponge cos it isnt really dirty because i clean it every 2-2.5k km & it dries quicker.. pouring on a few drops and just squeezing it to spread it is enough.. no worries

I'd say for the worse .. at least the older dry paper type one can be cleaned with compressed air - I personally prefer to CLEAN the air filter every 2k-2.5 km and yes you are right, it does trap a lot of dust. The max i run my dry paper type filter is 10k km, I just cant imagine 'not cleaning' it every 2 - 2.5k km.

Pls do change the filter every 6-9k km as you mentioned due to the dusty conditions prevailing in your area

Your battery is kaput.. get a new one - I ve been using exide extreme 'maintenance free' and its been holding up really well.
It comes with a 3yr pro rated warranty and ideally doesn't need refilling during its normal lifetime.
You could also try the maintenance free ones from Amaron.
Should cost you between 1200-1400.. The 2007 model has a 5AH battery.

You shouldn't have removed that object until you reached the panchar wala.
Woah 200rs per tire !! They dont charge that much even in the middle of the night when they come to your location to fix it (i am referring to the 24x7 puncture wala's)
Btw, even the tuff up tubes do a good job retaining the air pressure - but one issue with them is if you have multiple punctures you finally run out of the sealing liquid in the tube. That's one advantage the tube less ones have, they are able capable of sustaining multiple punctures and holding up.
And you should be carrying a tubeless tire repair kit under the seat and checking your tires at least once a week... hope you learnt your lesson

Good good.. damn that must have been some free play at the lever, i wonder if the brakes were even effective earlier !
I have always personally preferred a little more free play on the rear brake levers on all my bikes (maybe 2-3mm more) compared to factory recommended specs.. just been used to it due to my heavy hand/foot

Firstly battery ratings:
1. Older Activa, Dio and Aviators came with a 5Ah battery
2. The new models (110cc ones) come with a 3Ah battery

Exide has three types of 'maintenance free' models (and a few regular maintenance type lead acid batteries)
1. Is 'maintenance free' during its normal service life - but can be opened up and topped up with water if necessary. i.e. its not a sealed lead acid battery -- This is the Exide Extreme and fits perfectly in the battery cage of the older model scoots
2. Exide xpack and xpack vrla -- i was told these will fit very loosely in the battery cage of the older model scooters , though i did not check them myself.

I have been using the exide extreme, and been very satisfied with its performance thus far after almost 1.8 yrs. Never had to really top up or do any maintenance.

I haven't had a chance to personally use Amaron, but from what i hear from my mechanic , they are also equally good and cost the same.

PS: You should do some basic research online on the manufacturers' website to gather some info whenever possible
