    All,
I got a new Activa DLX for my wife last week. When driving it there is a whine along with the normal engine sound. The whine increases and becomes high pitched during decelerating. Please advice if this is normal sound or something not proper in the vehicle.

      1) Is there any routine service (like the 75k service interval for cars) to be done?
3weeks back i replaced the clutch belt for 5xx rs. (genuine honda belt)

      2) Can the Combi brake of the new activa be fitted on the old one? Has anybody done it till now? is it worth doing it, i mean will there be any difference in braking?

I have no other problem as of now (touch wood )

Wonderful scoot for traffic, have been riding it from past 3months for 35km/day 5days a week.
There are good visible scratches and lil dents all over the body. planning to paint it white soon
      Vas,

When the scooter is running absolutely fine, no need to do any engine overhaul. At 70k, the engine will be still good and it can run 30k more and even more with services at regular intervals. You can do something, if something comes up.

Regarding, Combi Brake, I do now exactly know whether you can fit. But, I do not think combi brake is required for an experienced rider. Combi brake is useful only for those people who uses only rear brake with less dependency on front brake. The inexperienced riders who uses gearless scooters generally tend to use only rear brake which does not give perfect braking efficiency. It will be useful for those people only.

We know that, for perfect and efficient braking, to use both brakes. So, we do not require it.

ohk, The brakes are more than enuf for stop-n-go traffic. Just thinking of doing something new for the aged scoot. Wont do it, if its aint worth

I am very happy with the Honda for giving such a wonderful scoot, I have seen ppl cribbing about the models > 06. About crap mileage, no pick et all.
I am now getting FE of 45+ under 50% sedate + 50% spirit riding...

I have stopped using Discover and the KING on weekday trip to office. This is more zippy, more convenient to ride in traffic.

Will just fill up new oil ,clean the AF and tank up with Shell for the time being. A DIY hopefully

I have achieved 57 kmpl riding Aviator (same 102cc engine of Activa) with sedate riding (70% highway). It is gem of a mill. I am using Sprinta 5000 synthetic oil.

Right said Ravi! I recently bought Activa Dx. It has combi brakes but I still use both the brakes due to my past riding habit. Thus Combi or no combi brakes, it has not changed my riding habit.

I have got 59 kmpl for my Aviator, of course 80% highway riding at 45kmph most of the time, and with just 5% of time at 60 kmph. With the new 110 cc engine I might get 65kmpl with my riding habits.

I encounter some whine while accelerating from 25 kmph to around 40 kmph but its not significantly loud. Didn't notice anything while deaccelerating.

I have started using Activa Dx since last one month only hence would prefer other Activa users to throw more light on this.

I never encounterd any whine. Why do not you point this to SC guys? When you go for first service, check any other new activa. There is a possibilty that the whine may go after the first service when they change the oil.

                        Update on my new Activa

                        Milage: about 450 kms

                        Fuel Effeciency: About 45 kmpl

Problem: Starting problem when the scooter is started after 5-6 days. It requires not less than 25 kicks to start though its no more that cold in Delhi.

Guys planned to get a scooter for myself as well as my dad. So what is your opinion about both new DIO & ACTIVA. I like the looks of DIO very much unlike activa. What are the drawcard & drawbacks of DIO. suggest me.

Change the oil. The mineral we use is good for only 2500 kms.

Other than being zippy in traffic and sexy looks, Activa is far ahead of Dio. Activa has more power with 110 cc engine (in Dio it is still 102 cc engine) and gives 15% more mileage too than Dio. Storage space is also good in Activa than Dio.

You can look at Aviator too and is the best of the lot (lot better than Activa too), but it is a bit pricey.
