Is there anyone who has ridden/owned both the Aviator and the Activa? If so, what would be a better choice and why?

You can look at Aviator too and is the best of the lot (lot better than Activa too), but it is a bit pricey.
Will a full size helmet do into the storage space of the dio
Activa & Aviator both are the best in the lot but look like a crap.(old school)
Whats would be the FE figures of the DIO? DIO has same specs like HH Pleasure it seems.

Suzuki Access, TVS WEGO, The Mahindra scooters. These are all I can recall now.

                Suzuki Access - Less FE
TVS Wego - Site is under construction (Dunno much about it)

                  Advantages of Avaitor over Dio/Activa:
                  • Front telescopic suspension, which aides in better handling and ride quality.
                  • 12 inch front wheel aides in better handling and quick truns. Cornering is easier than other scooters.
                  • Larger underseat storage (22L which can take a bigger half-face helmet under) (Dio's and Activa's) underseat storage is smaller)
                  • Bigger 110 cc engine which has more power and gives 15% more mileage (Dio still has 102 cc engine and is less powered now; Activa has same 110 cc engine)
                  • The floor board is wide and flatter than Dio. You can carry a 20L can without touching the walls of the scooter.
                  • Commanding and comfortable riding position.
                  • Strong build quality.
                  • Better headlight illumination with halogen bulb (Dio has normal bulb)
                  • Combined Braking System.
                  • Disc brake (Deluxe Model)
                  • Maintenance-free battery (present in Activa and Dio too)
                  • Viscous air filter (present in Activa).
I am riding an Aviator for the past 4 months extensively. Rode Activa for a little time. Those above points are based on my own observation, and are mostly confirmed by other owners and even magazines.

I have extensive riding experience with Flyte too.

Wego is promising, but it is not yet launched and relatively new for reliability (if you are looking for this factor). The test rides by mags are really positive and is on par/above with competitors in some features.

True about the mileage of Suzuki Access. And then, I did not find the suspension to be good even with front telescopics. I felt handle bar jolts with regular potholes. Aviator takes them with aplomb and with more muted thud than Access. But, the stiffer rear suspension of Avaitor gives some bumpy ride on big potholes for the pilion, and sometimes for the rider too. Of couse, the stiffer suspension makes the handling better and Aviator is the best handler among the lot. If you look for performance, of all the scooters, the Access is the king. Throttle response at the bottom is very good. Aviator and Activa have good midrange pickup.

Rodo and Flyte are very good products and they really super-feature-rich. But, the low ground clearance is a big issue if ridden with pilion. Aafter sales is still a big worry. Rodeo and FLyte are the best handlers in traffic with puny size and great maneuvering. I absolutely love to take flyte in traffic, but I like the seating position of the Aviator; it is very relaxed.

Coming to storage, Flyte has colossal 25L underseat storage; it can accommodate a medium size full-face helmet and some other belongings too, thanks to the fuel tank in the floor board. Next comes the Aviator and Access with around 22L of underseat storage. No front storage for Aviator. Activa's underseat storage is 20L and the sorage space of Dio is around 18L (no normal helmet, only small half-face helmet).

Are you seriously saying that they are better than the Honda stable?

What about the Honda after sales? You happy?

About the Aviator suspension, I heard that there is a glitch in the telescopic suspension. Or is it just a rumour?

Difference in built quality between Activa and Aviator? I mean, you, given the choice, which would you buy, Aviator or Activa? I am asking since Activa is a time tested product. Aviator is relatively new!

Have tried the Dio/Activa. Did not like the archaic old front suspension similar to the Kinetic Honda that I previously used. I found the Suzuki Access good. If not better atleast on par with Honda. I have a friend using it for a long time. No idea on Aviator. I did not try or have no ownership experience of TVS/Mahindra. Just listed them out as options.

Ken, I have never heard about any suspension glitches in Aviator, and I did not feel that in my ownership. In fact, it is excellent, and the best telescopic susupension among the scooters.

Aftersales service is not bad, it is as good as others. In the last 5k kms, I have not visited the Honda service station for a sevice. I have done the service (just oil change, air filter and spark plug cleaning) at local mechanic whom I know well. If you take care of airfilter and engine oil at recommended intervals, the scooter will not give you any problems. YOu can just run like that.

My choice out of Activa and Aviator would definitely be Aviator because of the features that I menioned in above post. Build quality of Activa is also very good, but I felt the Aviator's to be a bit higher. In fact, I am planning to buy either Avaitor or CB Twister for timebeing for city cummuting, and wait till a 250cc is launched. I am in a dilemma as to which one to go for. Scooter is practical for shopping and comfort in city, but the CB Twister is also temping with good performance for a commuter level.

Thanks for your valuable inputs. You have more or less managed to convince me. It is for someone else. And I will repeat to that person what you said. I would probably recommend that person to go for the disc version.

                          Thanks again.
