For insurance, IDV is nearly 12k as of now. And the amount premium amount paid till now + compounding interest = 12k. So, my asset value is nil. A Lesson learnt.
I should have increased the IDV of vehicle. Was it possible?

According to that math, your asset value will be nil only if you claim that 12k from insurance. Otherwise its money down the drain.
The value of the vehicle falls every year by a % that is fixed by the insurance company. From what I understand, the IDV is the depreciated value or current market value of the vehicle as calculated by the insurance company. I think the IDV could have been increased by 10%~20% (from the value proposed by the insurance company) at the time of renewal.
The insurance companies fix the IDV based on math and not sentiment.. hence it sadly doesn't matter if the bike was in tip top condition or scrap at the time it was stolen.
If you own any other vehicles, then pls do check on this IDV factor and let us know if you find some useful information.

s1d since scooters run on dry clutch , does that gives us an extra option of experimenting with car engine oil and hdeo..heard dat hdeo have extra detergents that will keep engine clean.

Yes, you can use a car engine oil. But again why the hassle, when the regular oils just do their job perfectly well and are priced almost the same.
Regular oil change every 2500km will keep your engine clean n healthy.
You can though experiment if that's the itch

haven't really seen how the box is mounted. if the screws that hold the box in place are house inside the box, then you have to break open the lock but if the screws are outside then you can just unscrew them and take out the box.
I'd say you first take a look, and if the lock needs to be broken.. take it to a mechanic and make sure only the lock is broken into either by drilling it out or other juggad and no damage is done to the front panel.

Hello guys I'm fed up of my new activa's cold start problem.
It has troubled me since day 1.(Current Odo at 1,200 KMS)
If I leave it idle for a day or two then it won't start before 5minutes no matter how I start it..Kick/Self/Choke.
(Things that I have checked
*Air Filter
*Spark Plug
*Ignition Circuit and connection points)

Opened the panel today and found these weird deposits near carburettor.

Looks like petrol is evaporating from the float bowl near the area marked red.
Is this common for all honda ?
I have a 5yr old pulsar with no deposits near that area.

And It takes a while to start because the fuel evaporates overnight and the auto fuel cutoff stops fuel flow.
When I give time for the fuel to flow into the float bowl it starts with first crank.

Now should I overhaul the carburettor by myself of take it to A.S.S and ask for a carburettor replacement under warranty..
Overhauling carburettor at ASS is not an option for me,
as they suggested an engine flush on first oil change(I'm not kidding) whereas they refused to clean the oil stainer which I did at home on last oil change..!!!
Please confirm if this is a carburettor issue or not..

Get carb cleaned from service centre..switch to 10w30/10w40 ss or fs oil.it will definitely get your problem solved

That little deposits on the carb is ok. could be water splashing and dust accumulated.
The fuel from the carb will overflow from the overflow/drain pipe located at the bottom.
A flooded carb (mostly due to a sticky float) will cause starting problems.
If the carb is dry like you say, then it should start in less than a minute on firing up the ignition (the fuel doesn't need 5 minutes to flow in to the carb)
If the valve clearances are not set correctly, you will again have cold starting problems.

Here is what i would advice you to do:
0. The next time you are in this situation, first open the petrol tank cap, wait for 15 seconds, and then try to fire her up. If this works, it might be an air lock.
1. Have the carb cleaned /check that rubber gasket which is located at the area you marked and check if the fuel petcock/auto cutoff is working properly. Hopefully no one has messed with the AFR setting on the carb.
After doing this, if you still have staring trouble,
2. Get the valve clearances checked and set to the right specification.

Please get these done only at the SVC since its a new vehicle under warranty. If the svc is not helping you, please send this pic and the problem as you describe here to honda via their email. Be polite but firm and let them know the issue and that the svc is not helping you.

Thanks man..
The culprit was the leaking carburetor float bowl gasket .
I laced the suspected area with fevibond and it started at the first crank next morning..
That's a temporary solution for it and I'll be doing the carb overhaul pretty soon.

Check your Starter relay, it's located at the front right next to your battery.

Since it starts after couple of attempts, battery is ok. Starter is ok too.

I suspect fueling and spark-plug, check them too.

Does this happen even after riding the scooter for 10-20 kms?
