but from last month i have observed that my aviator is drinking too much of petrol
as my calculation after a full to full tank calculated only 160km for my 6litre tank
guys please help me out as my fe is only 27km per litre what should be the problem
I hav serviced my ride 500km ago by a local mechanic in which i changed oil and filter
    please help me out
you should be getting around 35kmpl at least if its mostly short runs with frequent start/stops.
are you saying that your scooter has done only 500km in total or has it been 500km since the last service ??
What was the oil quantity used during service ? Only 700 - 800ml max should be used. I've seen a few mechs dump in 900ml or even 1 litre at times.. a strict NO.
I would suggest you get the valve clearances checked and the carb cleaned and adjusted at a honda service center or some mechanic who works a lot on these scooters.

What if he poured some more oil than 800ml
Does it make any big problem
      And 500km since last service

Please check the oil level via the dipstick (read owners manual on how to check oil level)
excess oil is bad for the engine. this oil might get pushed out thru the crankcase breather / into the air filter box, and if too much pressure builds in the crankcase then seals might fail and cause further damage
check oil level and drain out excess. and i forgot to mention, also ensure that the tire pressures are correct (i prefer 28front , 34~36 rear)

Thanks brother for your fastest reply
I will checcheck my oil level tomorrow morning itself and I fill air in my tyre regularly
And does excess oil gives harm to engine and even fuel economy

i doubt the existing rim can hold a tubeless tire, ask the svc regarding this. otherwise you might have to change the rim as well.
i have found the stock combination of the tuff up tube and a tire the best (last i bought the tuff up tube a couple of years ago, it was around 450rs). the tuff up tube in my experience has worked very well in holding up punctures and not leaving me stranded. as with a tubeless tire, you will need to inspect the tire at regular intervals to spot any embedded objects since the air leaks very slowly.
For the tire you can go with the stock mrf's or ceat secura neo if you want to save a cpl of hundred bucks.

Ceat is around 800-900rs while mrf is around 1100 (the activa one not the zapper that came on dio's, the zapper is again expensive by a couple of 100 compared to the mrf's that came on older activa's) . prices would vary state wise and might have gone up in the past one year. better check at a couple of shops in your area.
the tuff up tube cost me 450rs almost 2 years ago, and this is mostly available only at the honda svc.

                    Hello guys,
I am looking for a second hand Active for my sister, and i came to find an 2010 Honda Active, 11K kms on odometer..
He said that he serviced it recently changed engine oil/gear oil and charged the battery because it was idle for long..
I found a rust spot and the metal/steel was off and the right side light was not working..
I was getting few vibrations right off the bat when i started to ride it(need some help here!)
The price he is asking is 28k max he can go is 27k..
Is it worth it? As i only want a vehicle for my sister for 2-3 years..
PS: took a pic of the rust spot image attached below..Click image for larger version

I really can't judge if its done only 11k in 5years, which by what you said might have been lying idle unused for long periods of time battling the elements which might have led to that rust.
Again that 'vibration' can't be felt by me online so ride another scooter and do a comparison yourself.
Here is what you can do to get a fair idea on the health of the engine:
                      1. Check the oil level yourself
                      2. Start the scoot and rev it up a little higher and watch for smoke from the exhaust. you need to watch the exhaust closely so ask another person to rev up the engine.
                      3. take a short ride and then, put in on main stand and ask someone to hold the throttle half way and observe if there is any smoke in the exhaust. Next open throttle 3/4 and all the way and observe for any smoke
If you are seeing any smoke, simply walk away unless you want to spend time rebuilding the motor. the engine though can be rebuilt for around 5k.

The price seems a little higher, i wouldn't pay a penny more than 23k if everything checks out normal.

Another visit to local Service : Initially went for a ignition lock replacement but changed a quite few parts and bill went on.
                        Odo reads now 55K
                        Parts :
Ignition lock set (Hero) - 320
                        Seat lock housing - 150
                        Suspension bush (hero)- 130
                        Suspension Mount
                        (Brass) 4pcs (Honda) - 460

                        Fiber welding-front
                        fender (8 clamps) - 500

                        Rear Brake shoe - 230

                        Service Charge - 320

Total north of 2K which is bit of unexpected toll on pocket, but sister would nag less about her ride to office. This is regarding 2007 Pleasure.

Thanks for the reply mate, took the scooter for test ride again this time i tested both his Activa and my friends'

There is no fumes coming out of the exhaust checked it thoroughly & the engine oil as well.

The difference i find is when i go past 50-60kmph the scooty becomes wobbly/shaky/unstable not much but it is noticeable and is annoying while this doesn't happen in my friends activa till 70+kmph..

Is this normal? as i have little or no experience in scooters...

that wobble could be due to any of the following:
                            1. worn/old tires, incorrect tire pressures or a bent rim.
                            2. bad/wornout suspension - check for rust around the front suspension area
                            3. steering stem bearing set i.e. locally called as 'coneset': cost of spare + labor approx 600rs at svc
                            4. bad wheel bearings (the front has two and one at the rear)
                            5. Engine mounting bushes

All the above need to be checked and the appropriate spares replaced.

How much the spares alone cost for that steering stem bearing set? (without labour)

IIRC, as its locally called, the 'coneset' (i.e. which includes all the above) cost me around Rs.340rs in 2012 for my 2007 Dio. Labor was around Rs.150 at the ASC and the guy did a pretty good job. An year later though there was some play again, and it turned out i had to replace the steel balls (dont remember if it was the upper or lower) and had it done again at the same svc for 100 bucks (balls were some 12rs i think, labor was more)
no issues so far since then.
