if the price has indeed shot up so much.
btw, mine is 2007 model dio.. and am not sure if the coneset for later models (i.e. the 110cc activa's) has a different pricing. what is the year/model scooter you are talking about ?

do get it checked up at the svc. a lot of fake parts around in the open market these days.Originally posted by suj View PostAgain facing problem with the starter of my dio...this time went to local mechanic , after checking he said that starter bendix has to be replaced....he asked me to get bendix replaced at only asc otherwise I'll lose warranty on the part purchased.....guys pls shed some light on this issue..
the bendix is a small gear kind of part that engages when you thumb the starter or use the kick starter. it could have been jammed or maybe damaged.
you will need to have the clutch side cover opened and the parts inspected and replaced if necessary

Scooter won't start with single touch of button , it vll take at least 3 attempt to start...lots of weird sounds vll come...Originally posted by s1d View Postdo get it checked up at the svc. a lot of fake parts around in the open market these days.

Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
pl get it checked as i mentioned earlier.. otherwise you might inflict further damage to the internals which could turn out more expensive to fix.Originally posted by suj View PostScooter won't start with single touch of button , it vll take at least 3 attempt to start...lots of weird sounds vll come...
if the bendix is the culprit, then replacing it is a 5 min job,

Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
guys, unfortunately today the frame on my dio broke on the rear right side lower portion (near the exhaust)
no idea how it could have happened, since the the scoot did not fall over or meet with an accident. It was being used by my dad for just short runs everyday.
when my dad told me today that it was bottoming out, i suspected a puncture or a worn out bush on the rear suspension (the last time i saw it, i knew it was to be replaced by next service).
on taking a torch light and looking under the scoot, i notice the frame just snapped. Will be towing it to the mech and have it welded in the morning and also try to find out what could have caused it.. maybe just the bad roads and potholes took a toll on it or some failure of the engine mounts etc..
felt really bad today

Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
you think they'd give a damn about a 9 yr old vehicle and investigate ?Originally posted by Pinaki View PostI feel you should take it to Honda service . Frame break is not a minor thing and they should know about any weakness in their design at least . Replacement under insurance may also be possible .
I thought about insurance, but again the hassle of replacing the frame (getting hold of parts) and not to mention the paper work !
Let me asses the full extent of the damage tomorrow after stripping the panels, and will see if a weld with a couple of rectangular plates to strengthen the joint will fix it.
that part or for that matter 99% of the frame is not visible to the naked eye on these scooters. i do not use this scooter everyday but did have the seat cover replaced on saturday and it felt fine, but on monday when i my dad said the bottom was scraping and then what i found on inspection was a bad surprise. there was or has never been any rust and i am wondering if that area had developed a crack over time (it was definitely not present 4 months ago when i serviced the bike) and finally snapped today. it was not at any joint but along the frame tubing.
just waiting for 9am to head to the mechanic and sort this one out.

Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
Since summer is approaching use 20w40 instead of 10w30....use mineral oil like shell advance ax5,gulf pride 4t plus or valvoline champ 4t...ensure that you change it every 2000kms ...Originally posted by Straightedge View PostHi Guys.

Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
finally had the frame welded and also added a couple of support patti's welded across the broken joint. holding up well and the scoot is back on the road.Originally posted by s1d View Postguys, unfortunately today the frame on my dio broke on the rear right side lower portion (near the exhaust)
it looked it gave up over a period of time (the past 4 months, because this crack damage wasn't present earlier) due to maybe some 'rash' driving over speed bumps and potholes by a third person that my dad let use the scooter at times for small errands.

Get the welded portion painted so that rust won't form......ensure that scooter isn't used rashly againOriginally posted by s1d View Postfinally had the frame welded and also added a couple of support patti's welded across the broken joint. holding up well and the scoot is back on the road.

Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
Thanks very much.We have elf(moto 10w30 scooter) and castrol(10w30 activ with zipboosters) here in most shops. One shop had valvoline 4T oil for scooters(probably 10w30). Which one do i go for?Originally posted by suj View PostSince summer is approaching use 20w40 instead of 10w30....use mineral oil like shell advance ax5,gulf pride 4t plus or valvoline champ 4t...ensure that you change it every 2000kms ...
Isn't the shell ax5 jaso ma?Honda recommennds jaso MB.
Also what is the change period for spark plug and airfilter?Honda recommends 8k for s.p. and 16k for a.f.
Thanks in advance.
