Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
Jaso mb comes with friction modifiers just like in car engine oil....jaso ma doesn't contain it for wet clutch operation....so it doesn't matter much if you use ma or mb..the only 20w40 jaso mb oil available in market is servo scootamatic in Indian oil bunks...Originally posted by Straightedge View Post

Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
Bought myself a bottle (800ml) eni iRide 10w30 API-SL JASO-MB(M039ENI018) for Rs 250/- from a local store. Visited couple of them, asked for any scooter specific oils, they offered:
20w50 Castrol SemiSynth
10w40 Shell AX7
20w40 Motul 3000
Then naturally, asked them to look for anything with 10w30, hence got hands on scooter specific eni iRide 10w30.
I think it's a 2011 make Dio (102 cc engine)Originally posted by s1d View Postwhat is the year/model scooter you are talking about ?Last edited by Freak inExile; 01-22-2016, 04:37 PM.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
Hi guys,
My 2012 Activa (110cc), has been giving some pathetic mileage for the past couple of months. I've been calculating it dutifully, and it's dropped from 35kmpl to 29.
Any help? Is this a general Activa thing or is mine a special case? All service intervals regularly followed at the ASC. Please help
Thanks in advanceEat, Sleep, Ride, Repeat.

has your usage or driving conditions changed? Doing too many short runs/stop-go traffic ?Originally posted by Vignesh Padmanabhan View PostHi guys,

I would suggest you check the following in order:
1. Tire pressures : 28 front - 32 rear(35 if pillion)
2. Try to fill up from a different petrol bunk. If possible get this additive (adon p , sold at most Indian oil bunks) and use 2ml per liter for one tankful i.e. around 12ml for the tankful (Am in love with this stuff
.. I can say with confidence that I have noticed that this free's up sticky piston rings and I can also feel the response is better after using it.. I use it both on my duke and dio which has now done over half a lakh km and still going strong with no engine repairs)
3. Do you see any smoke from exhaust? Put it on center stand and rev it up and observe.. any trace of smoke could mean an engine repair(valve or block/piston)
4. Check engine oil level (see owners manual on how to check oil level) and top up if necessary.. If oil is too low then you need to find out why... because normally you shouldn't lose more than 100ml every 3000km.
5. Get the valve clearances set to spec (it is VERY unlikely the svc has ever checked this)
6. If possible get the carburetor cleaned and retuned - but this should be done by someone who knows how to retune it as close to stock setting.

Bought it today, it wasn't 500/- not sure why the counter personnel said 500/- that dayOriginally posted by Freak inExile View PostI visited nearest SVC-spares-section today, the cone-set alone is now Rs 500/-
2011 102cc Dio
1 cone set : 410/-
1 air filter : 168/-
2 10A fuse : 10/-
Replacing cone-set was a tricky business!
Low beam filament of headlight is shot now ;-(Last edited by Freak inExile; 02-14-2016, 01:05 AM.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
Yes replacing the coneset can get tricky.. especially hammering out the existing race and putting in the new one and seating it correctly. A lot of mechanics fail to get this right the first time. I was lucky to have a well trained and experienced young chap do the job and he did it all alone without anyone assisting him!Originally posted by Freak inExile View PostBought it today, it wasn't 500/- not sure why the counter personnel said 500/- that day

The 2011 model uses a h4 bulb right ? Try and get hold of the 35w h4 bosch halogen. If its the older ba20d bulb, still get a similar bosch halogen.

It's bulky, so ba20d model; I'll look for Bosch make.Originally posted by s1d View PostThe 2011 model uses a h4 bulb right ? Try and get hold of the 35w h4 bosch halogen. Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
s1d, turns out there was some sludge in my fuel line. The scooter actually stopped at a signal, and wouldn't respond to the starter or the kick. No engine weight (if you know what I mean) in the kick. Even the starter was just wheezing away. Pushed it to my mechanic who was luckily close by, and he checked the fuel line. Siphoned out the fuel, cleaned the line, and back in. Working like a charm. Have been filling regularly from an Indian oil bunk, and mileage is back up to 35Eat, Sleep, Ride, Repeat.

Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
I'm sure it's ba20d type, owner's manual doesn't list it out.Originally posted by s1d View Postin fact the ba20d bulb is a bit smaller compared to the h4. See if the owners manual has the bulb type listed.
IIRC the 2011 has a h4.
Got the Philips(stock) from SVC spares at Rs 184/-
I'll will be looking for Bosch one still.

for the ba20d ?? It's hardly 60 bucks man, and you can get it at most local spares shops. Don't get the lumax one, stick to bosch halogen.

Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
Hey hi! How much does the all around guard kit for the Activa cost? Also do dealers sell individual parts of the guard kit? If not is there some place else where it is possible?Originally posted by s1d View PostRs.184

Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
i do not know the price, but you can buy it at ramkote or maybe even ask a local spares shop. you can get the front mudguard 'guard' separately but am not sure if the other bits n pieces are sold separately. do ask the dealer/local shops.Originally posted by RoyalIndian View PostHey hi!
